  1. that's what I've always thought, up t'individual though.
  2. You seem to be the sort of bloke who jumps to conclusions Sribble, nothing wrong with that of course but I think you've unfairly described me. I think I'm probably more pedantic than a half full type of bloke which my comment in this thread suggests, I'm happy with the way the club seems to be going but I'm not worried about pointing anything out that isn't quite up to standard, I'm talking about in general and not the way we've played, which on the whole has been very good. Certain things like Stephen Carr looking like our first choice right back and the lack of pace the team possessed today are a slight worry going into the new season, on the whole though I'm happy enough, believe it or not I'm actually swinging my shoe's around my head at this very minute. Marvelous stuff. But hasn't Carr looked ok so far (can't believe I'm typing that tbh), decent against Juve and apparently today too? Dont know if you can tell but I'm pretty optimistic at this moment, and think 6th is a definite possibility. BTW did anyone see the Leeds protest at ken bates the other day? Shoes off in protest - weirdos!
  3. How freaky is it to see that? I think out of any of our players, Viduka would probably be the one that needed a full Allardyce pre-season training, shame he was away in the asian cup. Agree that he will be good for us after a bit more fitness work.
  4. Baggio, I'm guessing you're a bit of a glass is half empty kind of person after reading a few threads and seeing your comments. Come on, look at the positives for a bit, there are a few. New players, shortages in numbers addressed, left back position almost sorted out, good target man in viduka, a more solid look and purpose about the team, decent football being played and good results against some decent pre-season opponents to prepare us for the league, its not all bad you know. Give us a smile you grumpy bugger.
  5. Were you listening to The Dude's story, Donny?
  6. Hey - I'm not the drip who has just spent the last petulant ten minutes going back 4 months trying to find captains posts ! yeah because its a lot of effort to type in captain in the search feature Has this merge captain thread been cleared with Toonie? We don't want him posting numbers at us!
  7. Yes, but now we know most of the players we're going to be starting the seaon with, and sam did say before that he may still have to buy the player who will be his captain. I'd go for making nobby club captain, though as he is a good example but not certain to start every game. Still unsure who would captain the team on the pitch though.
  8. Good point, but if everton dont match the highest offer then the choice may well be out of his hands (if indeed we have bid 6m). It's also the same kind of thing that makes young english players go to chelsea, they all think they are good enough to beat any competition and play every week. All players need that self-belief and lets face it, we're no Chelsea, so he might well be 1st choice if he did come.
  9. Last week when Terry signed his new contract of £130k a week, they listed the top 5 earners in the Premiership, and I think the 5th on the list was Lampard at £95k. So Owen is on less than that. Not true, Owen was on there quoted at 110k alongside someone else (poss Rooney) - it was on a thread on here and someone missed it then too.
  10. Yesterday's Times had us linked to Diop for £3m in the fulham section of their The Game supplement, no mention of N'Zogbia though. I'm going for crossed-wires or plain speculative crap on this one. Would like Diop though.
  11. Take the Dyer cash straight away, that deal sounds good (if true of course). Not too bothered about Smith, but he's full of effort and not a bad footballer (by no means a finisher though).

    Idiots booing Dyer

More a statement of fact than abuse really

I was in the family enclosure at that end but couldnt make out what was going on but the people near me seemed to reckon a fight had broken out.
  14. Deco would be my favourite, good aerial presence alongside Emre in the middle. Great playmaker though
  15. yep, would hope we test that one too

  18. Good links, thanks. :icon_thumright: I think they might have been overlooked in the joy of Shep's departure. We had a thread in the past about the club helping players settle (or not as the case was). Good to see a bit of professionalism creeping in - can just imagine the look on terry Mac's face at one of Forde's update meetings
  19. Cool, sound promising, hopefully tighter with Geremi at RB instead of Carr, Taylor back in with Rozenhal, and a few more defensive signings.
