  1. Fuck, what a weird picture. It looks like one of those 17th century Dutch portraits where the whole family have their noses in the air and you can tell the painter really thinks his patron is a cunt.
  2. The strange case of Paul Dalglish http://www.wsc.co.uk/content/view/4156/38/
  3. Simon Bird's trying to manage the trick of endlessly slagging off Newcastle while keeping the fans onside. What a cunt.
  4. Like Peter Crouch or Andy Reid? Don't underestimate the States, they love a good underdog story. Also, you're retarded. Aye, but you don't HAVE to be a freak of nature to play football, do you? I'm not underestimating the USA. I don't think they're going to be as easy as some on here seem to. But I still think that the sooner they're on the plane back to Yankland, the better for everybody.
  5. I don't think the USA should be playing football at all, really. It's un-American. Yanks should stick to sports that can only be played professionally by people who are freakishly tall or wide, and which have plenty of time for commercial breaks. The sooner they're gone from the World Cup, the better.
  6. Same here. Tried opening the direct link in your media player? Thanks for the advice, but still no go. Oh well. This is the only thing I hate about being relegated...not being able to even hear so many of the matches. They told me it was something to do with the security/licensing software -- I can't remember exactly what the jargon was. Basically they don't have software to protect commentary from piracy if streamed to Mac, so Mac users are barred from getting it. Tell them the problem and they will refund your subscription. Cunts.
  7. It won't work on a mac and the fuckers should make people aware of that before they sign up. I subscribed to get the radio commentary and ended up getting my money back.
  8. Not saying you're wrong but I need educating on this and am willing to learn. At first glance it looks like he bought some canny players with money and on a budget made available to him by the owners, overall did the club eventually sell those players at a profit? And whilst he was manager they won the FA Cup. He's no angel by any means but what did he do wrong at Pompey? Portsmouth probably made a profit on transfer dealings under Redknapp tbf. The problem is the wage bill he tends to leave clubs saddled with. At West Ham & Pompey he would offer whatever daft money he could get away with to get players to sign up. As you point out, the board have the ultimate say but at the end of the day people like Redknapp aren't daft. They know what a reasonable budget is for a club like Pompey but just bury their heads in the sand and splash money about like it's going out of fashion regardless. The manager of a club should have more responsibility than that imo. I know we've missed out on players the manager really wanted because Moyes wouldn't go above the wage he thought the player was worth. I think O'Neil is the same. Round here that's known as "ambition".
  9. Junk the League Cup. What's the point? Junk the Champions League and bring back the old European Cup format – only champions qualify, all champions qualify, no group stage, just knock-out from start to finish. Europa League would then also become a decent competition instead of a bin for second-rate teams. And the crap situation resulting from a handful of clubs having a monopoly on CL money/qualification would be alleviated.
  10. They've apparently also asked to be compensated by being seeded for the next WC's qualifiers.
  11. It's a crap draw that doesn't tick any boxes. Away from home, neither easy nor exciting.
  12. as should you. Don't come moaning to me, you plank. When I tried to arrange a story that would get the fans' point of view across, you spat out the fucking dummy and accused me of being some kind of traitor.
  13. Was this bell actually at the match?? He was probably reading the "season so far" thread
  14. Should be in the "wah! the media hates us!" thread.
  15. I don't particularly care whether it's at Newcastle or not, but I'd really like to see the lad sort his head out somehow. I get the impression that he really needs people around him, and a structure, so insofar as the club can provide a job and be some kind of family for him, that's a good thing... as long as he's giving something worthwhile back. Our youth set-up should not exist for the benefit of the old players it employs. Quite the reverse. It's a tragedy, really, the Gazza story. I don't think he was underrated at all. He never managed to truly live up to his enormous talent, and everyone knows that. Including him.
  16. Journos don't usually write their own headlines, to be fair.
