Safe to say that when the season ended I never ever thought we’d be in a mess like this. I thought we’d be building properly and cement our place in the top 5/6. It’s all going in the opposite direction at the moment. Not a lot of positivity around the place right now. Most of that is our own fault too.

If we know the exact details and the fee RBL want then put another 5m on it as goodwill. If it means we get him then it’s worth it. Worst case ManU have to pay even more. Unless the player rejects us of course.

I was “ok” with us not signing a keeper if it meant more money available for other positions. This signing is a step better than not signing a GK at all while still allowing us to spend more in other areas. We just need that last bit sorted, actually getting players over the line. Having a keeper with decent feet will obviously make a difference to our overall play, no doubt. Not the most exciting in any way but still a solid addition if he can find his best form. Not much to lose really.

Watkins is a safer and better signing than Sesko is now. He is more or less guaranteed to produce from the off. Having said that, I prefer us to go for Sesko for many reasons even if more expensive. Obviously because he’s a lot younger but mostly because his potential ceiling is ridiculous and I can genuinely see him fulfilling it under Howe given some patience and time. He is by no means the finished article as of now and there’s a lot to be worked on. He’s got everything, pace, power and agility despite his size. Good technical ability and so on. Just needs to iron out a few bits here and there in his game. When maturing and developing under Howe I genuinely don’t see it taking too long before he’s one hell of a player. It’s mostly about decision making. Oh, and we need to get him over the line first

I don’t think Liverpool will bid. If they do I doubt it’s less than 130m in total. Why the fuck should we accept a fee around that, as in their first bid Might as well put up a red “Cartel Charity” sign. It’s always at least 10-15% on top of the first bid. Never mind when there’s an extreme shortage when it comes to strikers of even near his ability and age. If Liverpool bid less than that then they are taking the piss and we should demand even more. If he’s their dream striker signing then pay up or fuck off. This isn’t a charity. It’s them and Isak/agent playing it ugly, why the fuck would we sell him for below market value because of this. I’m ok with Isak leaving, but I’m not ok with us bending over, never mind to Liverpool.
