I like Roy Keane. There I've said it.

I'd pick myself. Sod what's good for the club.

I was just reading this. Rooney certainly doesn't inspire the same excitement that he used to at Everton and in his early days at Man United. I don't think he's a worse player though, he just plays for the team more. Reminds me of the big difference in Andy Cole's game when he moved to Man U.

Kranjcar's been canny. Bentley's had a good year. Pienaar's looked good to me too.

Don't think anyone's mentioned Henry's goal against Man U a few years ago where it came to him on the edge of the box facing away from goal and he chipped it up, turned and volleyed it into the top corner. Absolutely stunning goal. -
Not really, the competition has been quite intense these last couple of seasons and only one of the so called big 4 can win it. It´s not so much his inability to win the Premiership in my opinion, it´s the fact he hasn´t even got close. As a matter of fact, they are turning into a perrenial 4th place place team, slipping away from the big 3 and getting caught up by the likes of Everton. Have to admit he is an excellent cup manager however, going by results of course.. I was taking issue with the fact that his main target, the Premiership title, is consistently out of his reach, yet it's almost an afterthought the way it's mentioned as a failing. "One of the game's great coaches" should surely have won it by now with the resources available or at the very least he should be getting somewhere close to winning it whilst showing real signs of progression each year. As you say, he isn't anywhere close though. That's a pretty big failing.

"[benitez] is one of the modern game's great coaches, whose only failing in top-flight management has been an inability thus far to deliver the Premier League title to Anfield." That's a pretty big failing all things considered.

indeed. That goal was slightly better than decent. Bet you there's 2 or 3 better goals scored every month in the Premiership, at least. Yeah it's a great goal but because it was the final and because it was Zidane, it's made to be better than it was. I mean look at this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/sports_talk/1990830.stm Greatest ever goal in Europe? Was it bollocks. Because it was Zidane, you know that he meant exactly what he did. He wasn't just swinging his foot at it (his weaker foot too, mind). That's why there's always more credit when someone like Steven Gerrard scores a good goal than when someone in the lower leagues scores a good goal. Because it was the final, the pressure was so much higher. The truly great goals are scored when it matters because of the added pressure. It was a World class goal scored by a World class player in my opinion. -

Man United should win it. They've been streets ahead of anyone else this season. Wouldn't surprise me too much if Barca knock them out though.

Thierry Henry.

There are a lot of short term thinkers on here.

Their match report was quite fair though I thought: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article3466702.ece -
you been to the training ground? Clip of him on SSN's KK looked open to him as well. (for those suggesting every backroom appointment is above KKs head) Just how long was this clip?

They weren't always a Premier League club you know? EDIT: Unless you mean with England; in which case, no he didn't.

I'm still recovering from the brevity of the OP.

Allardyce retrospective. (If you're looking for a long read).

It's a canny read but the content of the concluding paragraph is stuff most people on the board would've thought anyway. -
Yes, I've thought that as well. If he plays Carroll, he'll be crucified if the results don't go our way. TBF though, that's not the only reason why he shouldn't be playing him.
-
Again people bench marking him against the worlds greatest of talents. Carrick? A man running at him with the ball while a second man makes a run is a situation he'll face fairly regularly in top flight football. It didn't matter who the opposition was, he fucked up.

What a good idea. It's quite clear ''King Kev'' can't manage anymore, he's f****** past it, why can't people just accept this? He's been out of football for 3 years, and look at our team, we aren't European contenders anymore, we are a joke. Now, under Keegan, not Allardyce we are in a relegation battle. Since Keegan has been in charge we have conceded 13 goals in 5 league games! How is this acceptable? In the same amount of time we have scored a meager 3 goals. We are now 6 points off the relegation zone, player morale is the lowest I've seen it in a very long time but the supporters need to wake up and see Keegan has lost it. Allardyce was doing things with this club, Keegan no longer has the ability to do so. http://got2begreen.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/wind-up-lamp-key.jpg

How can you argue that after arguing Allardyce should not have been sacked in another thread? Or are you taking the piss? He's either taking the piss or on the piss. Or his thinking power is weak as piss.
