Well, he started his career at the Sunday Sun didn't he? During the KK years. Would've been hard for him not to have fallen for NUFC. He speaks very well of the club and about his time with the players during the 90's. He even had one of the players as his best man. I'd say he's a Newcastle fan first and foremost, but as a North East correspondent on a national paper he's bound to at least pretend he loves all the teams. 100% correct.
  2. Can't blame the doubters for not getting carried away - it's what supporting this club for any length of time does to you. You only have to look at this season's results to see why we suspect things could go wrong on Wednesday.

Don't trust him? He seemed pretty trustworthy when he didn't put a foot wrong in the first half of last season before his injury.
  4. It is, if you are daft enough to believe Ashley won't be looking to get back the £100-200 million he has loaned the club. Note the word "loaned".
  5. Mate who works at Express newspapers in London reckons Woolnough is one of the best three or four paid writers in sports journalism - on about 175k a year. Staggering if true, his stuff is embarrassing.

Thoughts on the chipped ball Carroll fluffed? Wow, one nice ball in 90 mins of football. Well worth 65k a week he's on I fear entering debate with you could be a bad idea but here goes. I didn't say he was value for money, nor did I say that his 65k a week is money well spent, but when we have a midfielder who can produce a ball of that quality just once in a game that is deemed a poor one, I'm happy for now. Like much of the squad he's had an indifferent season, when he's played well we've won. He's far from a fantastic player, but he at least seems to hold a semblance of ability when it comes to playing through balls and creating. It appears to be a bit of a theme here but players are either very good or very bad, there is no middle ground. Personally I rate Barton as a solid player with potential to be very good, Wigan is the worst I've seen him play. This is my thoughts aswell realy, I think people like neesy must watch a bit too much Barcelona/Real Madrid if there expecting 5-6 Xavi esque balls each game from a player if he's of any quality. in that wigan game, that one ball wasn't enough to make up for the rest of his play, and i'm not one saying he's been s*** all season. I don't rate him, and haven't for the last year, and would rather get rid due to his wages. Just a very very average player and he hasn't done much this season for me, and his set-pieces are dreadful, no wonder why we hardly score from any. It amazes me that anyone would disagree with you, and anyone who thinks the Wigan performance was a one-off cannot be going to games home and away. Barton's surely due yet another heart-on-his-sleeve chat with the Press soon, to disguise his shortcomings.
  7. Also worrying for me is the influence I'm told Nolan has on Carroll, who apparently sees him as a real mentor. He ditched his agent to go with Nolan's agent on Nolan's say so by all accounts, and they are often out together. One more reason why Nolan is undroppable??
  8. Keane off to Villa, according to yet another Spuds ITK. Do the Tottenham hierarchy hold ITK briefings?

    Steven Taylor

Really hope he stays. Him, Williamson, Colo and Sol are a really good pool of centre-backs, with Taylor more than capable of playing r-b. For all that people go on about silly mistakes, Taylor didn't put a foot wrong in the first half of last season. Colo deserved credit for knuckling down last season, and Taylor should too.

Or simply doesn't rate him, based on his Premier League history?
  11. The latter. These NE journalists are getting absolutely trounced on transfer stories. If I was one of their editors, I'd be embarrassed. Journal had Tiote - and the fact that he was in Newcastle - this morning.
  12. He was definitely staying in the Jesmond Dene House Hotel with his agent last night.
  13. There are dozens of former Newcastle players worthier than Given of your contempt, not least because they did absolutely f*** all for us while they were here. I'm indifferent to him now. I appreciate he gave us great service, I don't appreciate the way he left, but I don't think it would have made a difference to us beibng relegated because there were an untold number of wasters still on board who would have dragged us down regardless. He's not here now, and I've moved on. "Gay Shiven"? How old are you ffs?
  14. What on earth suggests that Xisco will contribute in any way at all? Ask Santander fans what they think of him.
  15. There was talk a day or two back about Flamengo bidding 5 million euros for him. Would that blow us out of the water?
  16. The email sent to the Journal cited the 'no new capital outlay' line in the club statement as proof of why the bid for Onuoha story was wrong. that was to sunday sun wasnt it dont remember seeing diddly in journal on it other than a lack of clarification It's one team that now put together Journal, Chron and Sunday Sun.
  17. Surely this iß costing the club money? Also, what's the point of denying transfer rumours? The emails to the papers (the Sun and Mirror have also had them apparently) are from some law firm in London, so won't come cheap. All the emails demand that rertractions are printed in the papers. Haven't seen any so far...... This seems an extremely odd way to be acting if indeed it is true. Strange but true.

  20. The club has to deal with Thommy House & the Sunday Sun is in Thommy House. Correct. I'm told the club lawyers contacted the Journal denying they wanted to buy Onuoha, citing the "no capital outlay" statement as evidence.
  21. Yet he's seen by many British pundits as being a bit of a liability. So is Enrique. Either way, you cannot argue that Colo built any sort of reputation from August to Jan this season, he just restored a bit of faith. Anyway, daft arguement. 22. Laughable, given that you confirmed my first point in your initial response (ie that Colo impressed - thereby improving his reputation - alongside Taylor between August and January). That he did so in a sh*t league is no fault of his own.
  23. Time to adjust to a league with no 20-plus goals a season strikers...
  24. Other than Fabricio Coloccini in the first five months of this season....
  25. Does standing in front of those terraces, seeing and hearing at close and first hand those scenes that we can hardly bear to look at on our PC screens 20 years on, and doing absolutely f*** all about it equate to "majorly screwing up"? It was CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE. "Villified excessivly?" Look at the pictures - look at what they stood by and watched - and think again.
