  1. Any news as to who the other 2 are? The other 2 who? I thought the story was that there were four on board with this Parkinson fella?
  2. Mate works at the Chron.
  3. Nobody knows. I've heard they are claiming it is a billion
  4. He may have opted out of having his name on the published one, a lot of people do these days to avoid ID theft OK, then if these 5 "North East businessmen" are worth £1 billion between them, why is Parkinson nowhere on the Sunday Times rich list (it goes down as low as £30m)? Here are the 5 richest people in the North East according to the Sunday Times: 144 (232=) Mark Fenwick and family £365m £21m Department stores 178= (270=) The Duke of Northumberland £300m - Land 268= (312=) Alastair and Michael Powell £205m £55m Cabling, Property 309= (397=) Sting £180m £20m Music 388= (525=) Sir Peter Vardy and family £140m £10m Car sales Can you see Fenwick's, the Duke of Northumberland or Sting getting on board???
  5. If he lives in Northumberland then he's not on the Electoral Register (I checked). I smell a Mackem wind-up.............
  6. Wasnt it just to confirm the interest of that profitable group? Well I thought there'd be something else, because that statement was released yesterday, so that doesn't really qualify as "breaking news". Thus my sarcasm....
  7. Madrid's £80m bid for Ronaldo meant David Craig has just been cut off on SSN as he "revealed" (??) "breaking news" (??) of Profitable confirming their interest in Newcastle.
  8. Chron says the Profitable Group ARE in talks with Seymour Whatsit, and that a South African (unnamed) is also ready to make an approach
  9. I'm told today's Chron will give us a better idea of what's going on.
  10. On a lighter note, I look forward to seeing that c*** Phil Brown sacked in late November after Hull rack. up 2 points in their first 15 games...
  11. The fact that EVERY other result went our way and we still couldn't do it just sums this lot up. Cue a million "we gave it everything", "we're devastated for the fans" soundbites from the feckless wasters who have taken the piss out of us all season. BUT, the basic fact is that these wankers weren't good enough to finish above some of the worst teams I've seen in the Premier League. So it's the people who bought them that deserve most of the blame. FFS, Allardyce, Ashley, Wise, Llambias, JFK and even KK (would we have stayed up if Abdoulaye Faye had stuck around and Colo had never come?) step into the stocks....
  12. £10 treble on us to draw and Hull and Sunderland to lose. £152 coming back.
  13. Which Premier League manager WOULDN'T have walked after two (mediocre at very best) players were signed without his say-so?
  14. Barnsley or Leicester (at our place) in the 1992/93 promotion season.

    NUFC Shirts

If you fancy a 1988/89 relegation home shirt instead (in XL), let me know!
  16. I was at WHL that day. It did get very scary for a while in the pen next to the one the police had left empty until dozens of our lot scaled the fence to get into it. Even after that, my feet didn't touch the ground the whole game. I also remember an FA Cup replay at Forest (91? Definitely a year or two after Hillsborough anyway) when there would have been an almighty crush outside the away end if fans hadn't worked out what was happening. On both occasions, the police either just stood by or tried to nick people.
  17. I think I was saying this a year ago.... I agree with the sentiments of the interview, it's just ironic that the comments are being made by one of the men in the areas that needs an overhaul. If you were saying it a year ago, then you looked pretty stupid by the end of the season after Butt had been superb in the last 10-12 games.
  18. And the fact he can't pass, run or header makes him an even bigger c*** in my eyes. Total waste of time, he should have stayed at Brum, that was his standard at the time and he has only got worse since! That's a load of bollocks tbh Spot on. Were "Taff" or "Kryten" at Hull, where Butt held things together single-handed? Were they even at the Everton home game, when he was outstanding? Did they watch the last dozen or so games of last season, when he performed well week in, week out? Yes, he's nowhere near the player he was, but the abuse he gets on here says far more about this board than him. My advice to him is to get a hair transplant and grow a bubble perm or pony-tail. Then he might get the same easy ride as Colo and Jonas (both vv poor recently) on here. Then maybe we should drop Colo and Jonas and see if that makes us play better football? It didn't seem to have much effect last season when Keegan had great lads like, Duff, Smith and Milner to call on as well as Butt and Geremi, but because Butt is saying all the right things it must be someoene else's fault that our midfield is s*** and SLOW. No. I backed up my point with evidence. If you want to forget the fact that Butt contributed plenty to our storming finish to last season (and, judging from your KK reference, you don't recall picking us up 15 points from our last nine games) it's up to you. themanupstairs has hit the nail on the head. Still, I appreciate you arguing your corner rather than resorting to "Nicky Butt is a f***ing c***" etc etc

    Souness

"I’m not big on systems and tactics. Systems are for schoolteachers." Graeme Souness, Dec 2004.
  21. what a load of s***. mort said keegan knew the system/situation and agreed to it before he signed. any talk from keegan himself about breaking world records was sheer stupidity. Your the one talking s*** - Keegan would not have returned unless he had been promised significant funds and control over transfers. Why do some people on here prefer to believe Ashley rather than Keegan, amazing really at what point in ashleys time here has he or anyone connected to him claimed we would spend "significant funds"? the club would NOT have said "here kev have £200 million m8" as a lure. keegan most likely came back for the money he would get, not spend. sad, but very possibly true. The 16 million quid they were going to spunk on the croation tranny? and Woodgate in January again, that would have a knock on effect on other transfers we did complete. i would bet significant money on keegan being told he would have to sell to buy for the most part. what a load of s***. mort said keegan knew the system/situation and agreed to it before he signed. any talk from keegan himself about breaking world records was sheer stupidity. The 16 million quid they were going to spunk on the croation tranny? they thought that would be a "right deal at the right time". that doesnt mean we would follow that up with another £50 million on other players. chances are we'd not have colo if we'd got modric. Nonsense. Net outlay last summer was barely £2m, Colo included. So a) what happened to that £16m for Modric, because it sure as hell wasn't spent? and b) why shouldn't KK have expected to have it available to him?

No, he didn't agree to players being signed on Wise's sole authority. Cue the denial brigade.......

    Shepwatch

Worse than McKeag? I assume you weren't around pre 1990ish.
  24. again correct. Nowt like a reality check. oh f*** me, what a load of s*** no, it isn't. YOU show ME where the club is in the league and also show me why important players have bailed out, if they are happy with the direction of the club. the post dave made was about wise, wise is not in charge of the budget is he? his boss is i'm going to assume that difficult decisions have to be made within the constraints of that budget in his role as DOF/transfer kingpin or whatever you want to call him it's not s**** from your perspective 'cause it meets your anti ashley-ism but it's s**** with regards his last sentence, blaming wise for where we are on the pitch is a f***ing joke imo since he arrived we've signed potentially the best CB we've seen for ages, another very good one for 10m, a better winger than was already at the club and a few squad fillers...if you think wise WANTED to offer owen a pay cut, or let given/zog leave then you're mental someone back up the anti wise s**** or f*** off with it, already said that but it was roundly ignored of course 'cause it ain't popular To kick off, and without mentioning the KK issue, no new right-back (Ryan Taylor has clearly been bought as a midfielder) or left-back when successive managers have pinpointed those areas as desperately in need of strengthening. No creative central midfielder (another priority) to speak of either. I would also seriously question your description of Colo as a "very good" CB - and he was hardly much of a discovery. But that's another argument.
