Unless Newcastle are going to be allowed to compete for the title, I just don't see why the Saudis would invest £1bn in a new stadium. I've said this ad nauseum for ages now, for them to do it, it has to be a vanity project. As an investment it just doesn't make sense. Why would you spend billions to finish 6th? The PL and their paymasters, the cartel clubs know this very well, that is why the rules keep changing specifically to stop us spending money on title winning players.

Don't know the ins and outs of it, just heard it mentioned on Sunday then repeated on one of the social media channels. But even that example you gave there....it would be nice to see some inventive short corners mixed in given the balls lobbed towards Burn are inevitably going to end up skewing off his head into the stands.

Joelinton is probably in the next tier, and he's a former striker playing midfield. That is quite telling.
-
We did try it early on in the season and ended up with 40% possession stats or something. Most of our players are hopeless when some pressure is applied. We are playing nicer football now, but it's leaving us wide open when we do lose it.
-
It was mentioned on Sky that we've had 50 corners without a goal, and apparenly if you add in cup games it's closer to 80. When you have a side of fairly big lads you don't think that's a bit concerning?
-
The central point is right though isn't it? Our set pieces are shite, and Tindall is the set piece coach.
-
Don't see us going through tomorrow, but we are playing Arsenal at the perfect time with their two CBs out. Their season has revolved around them keeping clean sheets and providing set piece threats.
-
If we'd bought him when Brentford did. These links are so shit man, we clearly aren't going to continue buying players once their price has been inflated by proving themselves in the Premier. It would be a nice idea if we had an unlimited pot of money, but we don't.
-
If he continues to press high with two really slow central defenders, it's difficult to see how we stop conceding goals on the turnover. I suppose if we bang in a few goals before we get countered, that would be the plan.
-
It seems to be working fine when he plays for Italy, 90 minute shifts every time. Maybe the set up there fits him better.

NUFC was never really about making the money for them, it was about giving them a global presence, and they'll only get that if we are successful. I still think if the rules are changed whereby we can channel funds into the squad and building a CL team, the rest will follow. But that will only really be tested over the next phase of the Man City legal fall out.
-
Which is why I suggested Barnes will now be a depreciating asset. None of these are bad players, but unless we stick two fingers up to PSR and just sign players hoping it will all sort itself out, there's no way round it. We'll end up with an ever decreasing pot of transfer money to build a squad with.

£10m rising to £15m isn't that low tbh. For that you should expect him to come on for 20 mins and provide some nuisance value at least.
-
I'd rather go the other way and back Mitchell if it's going to be one over the other. There has to be a consistent direction, and I would expect any manager to follow the blueprint. At this point I still think Howe is that man, if he's not then we have to move on. I certainly think we should be past the stage of the CEO trying to win popularity points because he wants to prove a point to some fans by keeping a fan favourite against his better instincts then saying I told you so if it goes wrong.
-
There was quite a few criticising him for sure, I wasn't one of them. I thought he did alright, and I thought he was a hard worker even then.
-
Never felt he was shocking tbh. Even when he wasn't getting loads of assists or goals, he decent just because he would run at defences and open them up, and also run back and cover for 90mins.
-
Yep. getting rid of a manager is the easy part, finding a half decent one to replace is the tricky part.
-
He's got my vote for sure.
-
It was a 5-3-2 that was mentioned, so I would probably have Kelly down as the left sided one. Maybe Krafth could be the right sided one for now and Schar given the central role.
-
A lot of people think the players we have might be more suited to that formation.
-
What sort of striker would play to Howe's strengths? We keep being linked with Calvert-Lewin, would we really be a better team with him in and Isak out?
-
Blaming players for missing chances over a few games is a bit mental though. The best players in the world will miss chances. If there's criticism of Howe then it should be based on what he's done for the past 12 months or so, not a window of 5-10 games.
-
A lot of those players were never going to come here because the likes of Liverpool or Chelsea were also in for them. Madueke was definitely a chance missed though.

With Sir Jim Ratshit at the helm? I don't think so.
