With Wilson's injury record I would fucking hope not.

Played from the start against the European champions yesterday apparently, and had an excellent game. I think I'd prefer to get this one tied up over signing someone like Joe Gomez who was supposed to be used as a makeweight in the Gordon to Liverpool transfer before it was called off.

Spending a relatively small amount on a back up striker might mean we can put in a big bid for a really top class RW hopefully.

Obviously one for the future, but I trust our recruitment team, they don't get that much wrong.

That's why I'm not convinced we'll be buying a new RW/striker. Unless there's one available at the right age and price, we might take our chances on rotating Miggy/Murphy/Barnes. Obviously if we can sell Miggy that will change, but despite all the noises, I'm not convinced the Saudi route is still there, and there's no proper club who'll pay us any sort of money.

As far as I know we priced Trippier out of the move, we obviously felt he was too important to let go unless we received X amount.

I actually think he really does love it here though, Newcastle as a city probably suits his personality down to the ground. Only his hometown club would be a bigger pull. Obviously if he could double his wages elsewhere, that's a different thing, no one is going to turn that down.

Don't think Gordon would even entertain the idea of leaving Newcastle...unless it was for Liverpool. Sorry guys, but that's probably the only club in the world that could turn his head, but it's not out of the question.

Just had a look on Transfermarket and according to that his contract expires Jun 30, 2026.

That figure of 3.5 years is fairly specific. Where would someone have got that from? I'm surprised it hasn't been shut down if it's not true, it's been circulating for a few weeks now.

Unfortunately this is true. Not sure we'll be able to offer him the same contract Liverpool will either, but we can still make him wait until the next window if he really has his heart set on Liverpool.

I think both Barnes and Gordon look much more threatening on the left, and I reckon with them both liking to cut in to shoot with their right, they both want to play left as well. Murphy's a solid back up, but both him and Miggy lack genuine finishing ability and their assists record is patchy as well, even given Murphy has put in some fantastic crosses last season. I just don't think they are top level, they are back ups.

You might well be right, we'll only really know in a year's time if that was a great price for him. I can accept many feel that way, personally I already said just the way he scored his goals had me quite excited about his prospects here, and I said it before there was any talk of selling him. IMO we were forced to sell him for PSR reasons only, not because it was a great price, but these are only opinions at the end of the day. No one's going to jail for having them. At least I hope not.

Exactly. I'm sure we are actively looking for a RW but if it was that easy we'd have had one here long before now. All I said was that currently our RW options are Miggy and Murphy, and factually that's correct. Hopefully it won't stay that way, but it easily could.
