This is hindsight though, before the season started everyone thought they were going to walk the league after spending £300m on players, with plenty in hand to spend more. That's when Isak started agitating for a move, all he'll have seen is a club which wins stuff every season and would be one of the favourites to win the CL. For all our progress we are not that level yet, and due to PSR shackles, unlikely to be in the next few years.

He's doing the same as Isak but he hasn't downed tools. Liverpool will only take him at a pittance otherwise they'll get him for nowt next season.

I'm glad you brought this up because not going to lie, I was praying we would shut up shop after getting the equaliser. I can understand why we didn't, as going for them was what got us back into the game, but with an extra 11 minutes on top of the hour already played with 10 men, we were obviously going to start leaving huge gaps, as well as being absolutely shattered by then.

I don't think the ref was the issue, the problem these days is VAR which is called on selectively in favour of cartel teams. The new holding/grabbing in the penalty area has already been used to ensure results in this way.

Is Hojlund even a proper striker with a record of goals? He's always looked a decent player to me, but someone who doesn't really get on the end of much.

Don't hate them as much as you do, but I do think the PL is a better place with Leeds in it. Precisely because the atmosphere is vicious. That's how it should be, it's what makes the PL the most popular football league in the world.

Wow, finally a bit of unexpected good news after a night of heartbreak. Just need Mrs Tonali to put out a tweet now, that's she's massaged wor Sandro to full relief from any pain. Of the shoulder. Obviously.

I was really onboard with this signing at the time, love that he can score with both feet and he has a wicked delivery IMO. But must admit I was a bit concerned at a few dodgy first touches in the pre-season games, but he was electric last night. With a proper CF he would have had a couple of assists yesterday...and his first touch was magic as well.

He seems to particularly hate us. Not sure it has anything to do with the ownership either, just think he doesn't like either the club or the city.

This is the problem with brinkmanship when it comes to negotiating fees. Clubs like these won't sell even if at one point they were willing to for the right price. With a few days left they won't be able to source their own strikers, or at least not ones who won't be too expensive or unproven.

This is more the sort of reporting of the game I expected to be reading. I don't know why though, by now I should know that the Liverpool wankfest has become part of English football's DNA.

It's been mentioned that the owners met him at his residence yesterday (wherever that is now), would be interesting to see what the outcome was. It's being reported that they were trying to convince him to stay, but could just as easily be informing him that they'll let him rot on the sidelines for 3 years if they have to. I don't know if it was just Jamie Reuben who met with him, but can't imagine Yasir would be too too conciliatory with an employee downing tools. I think the message will most likely have been you are staying for this season so pull your finger if you want us to help you find a new club next year. Otherwise you can sit on the sidelines for the rest of your contract if you want to be too precious.

Tbh the Sky coverage once the game actually started was pretty good. The commentators were lapping up the atmosphere and give us our dues for battling back. I've seen a couple of match reports in the papers and it was all about the 16 year old wonderkid winning the game. Our herculean effort of coming back from two goals down with 10 men was relegated to a sideline. I expected more would have been made of the bear pit atmosphere at St James, but they were still bleating on about Isak.
