We don't really need to replace him though, he's got a contract for 3 more years. I'm sure if we could get in someone of a good enough quality we might have accomodated him, but there's not much we can do if every striker we approach has chosen to go elsewhere. As for throwing a wobbler, if we ignore some of the more insane theories, he hasn't actually said anything publicly. When the window closes we'll see if all these stories he's never playing for us again are true or just scaremongering.

His shooting is quite weak, and even then it's not particularly accurate either. He can't even direct his headers. The only thing he's got going for him is he's big, and the ball sticks a bit.

Honestly I think it will be hard enough to get a result on Monday with the fans fully behind the team instead of focusing on Isak. He's not going to be there anyway. The only winners in such a situation will be Liverpool and their scumbag fans.

If the fans are still happy to cheer on a struggling team rather than bring Isak back into the team then fair enough. In my view, results tend to overshadow moral high grounds when the rubber meets the road.

Regardless of whether he deserves a new contract, we don't have that many on our books who could realistically ask for bumper pay rises. Tonali would be the obvious one, maybe Livramento with City sniffing around, but I think he's getting one anyway from what's been reported. To ask for world class wages you do have to be a world class player in the first place.

I should have worded that more clearly. I meant the risky strategy was to leave it until the end of the window to sign a replacement for Wilson. It should have been done yesterday, but I guess we don't really have much option now but to hope the selling club will relent. That means it's out of our hands somewhat.

I'm not confident either. Wolves aren't going to sell us Strand Larsen with 2 weeks left of the window, so I'm hoping the only reason his name is being mentioned now is because we have our real striker target well under wraps from prying media eyes. Although fuck knows who it could be.

Agree. Fans understandably get more emotional about these things, but at a professional level there's big money and livelihoods at stake. Players and agents will use the media to try and affect outcomes, but there's a reason why they are still careful not to be quoted directly in case they have to backtrack.

Logically that is of course correct. But firstly, as a foreigner he might not even be aware of Liverpool's reputation for burglary. Secondly, when you personally experience a home invasion, that picture hits home much more than theory. I know it happened with me at a former residence, it's hard to disassociate from the location once you experienced it. Although Ponteland shouldn't feel that threatening tbf.

Same here, and I'm a Jackson critic for over a year now. But as a replacement for Wilson....hell yeah.

It's not that hard to figure tbh. He'll stay out of the picture until the window closes, then if he hasn't got his move we'll start the work to bring him back into the fold.

At the moment it looks like Anthony Gordon is the alternative to Wilson. Not sure I fancy that much tbh.
