He was, but I just hope we have read this right and aren't in danger of just hoping it will all work out. Brentford don't want to lose him, and unless we are willing to pay daft money, we can't guarantee they will let him leave. So what are the alternatives to the alternative?
-
My take on the "greedy bastard" chant is that it was just fans venting, and probably fans who are half cut by that time of day so all inhibitions will be out of the window. Fans will be down in the dumps one day, and over the moon the next, that's just the nature of following the game. The club has to view things more strategically. We can't give up one of the best strikers in the world to an immediate rival when it would weaken us, and they have shown no intention of paying the required fee to do it.
-
Of course we can. We just need to be ahead of the game instead of crossing our fingers and always hoping it might go our way. We've known two months ago they don't want to lose him, so we should have some alternative plans in play. I'm hoping some of those alternatives are still in play instead of ending up at Forest or Aston Villa.

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Yes but whether we could have agreed a deal is the issue. But I do think we failed to read the room, agree with you there. -

We'd still have had to sell Isak at a price which suited Liverpool not us. -
Will be difficult this season with other teams having got their signings in BEFORE the season commenced. We aren't really ready yet so will need to find some way to keep up with the leading pack until we are. On the plus side, other than having no striker, the rest of the squad looks hungry and capable. Once we fill the gaping hole in the first team, we should be able to go hard after 5th spot you would imagine.
-
If Wissa is coming it has to be done in the next few days so he is ready to start against Liverpool. This is the Wilson replacement, it should have been done already ideally, but with Isak going on strike it's become imparative. We have not handled the striker search well IMO, we seem to be constantly surprised by events then playing catch up.

I'm sure we probably had some inkling Isak was going to be a dick. We just got caught napping and are now scrambling to play catch up. -
As far as I'm concerned we dropped two points yesterday because we didn't have a striker. That doesn't mean every striker is worth a fortune, but having a good one makes a massive difference so no surprise they fetch high prices.
-
Not even worth predicting anything until we know if we are going to be able to start with a striker up front.

He's fucking dreadful. After seeing the highlights the scoreline flattered the mackems tbh. Graham Potter handed them an easy start to the Premier.
-
I don't think it the rules would survive if they were challenged in the high court. Problem is, PIF signed a waiver that we wouldn't take the PL to court as one of the conditions of the takeover. Some other club needs to do it.
-
He's put that into words perfectly. Shame on the Premier league for reducing a great competition to this.
-
I won't begrudge him that either, he was a hometown boy, The decision to sell him was Milan's. Obviously I want him to be here for a few more years first.
-
I used to think my hatred for them was unreasonable before and it could never get any worse. Who knew?
-
Nah genuinely forgot he was at Everton now. Once Moyes has been at a club I always associate him with them.
-
Aye he was genuinely loved there. Think the Liverpool fans are secretly glad of the insurance money.
-
Chelsea haven't played yet.
-
Moyes is in for an interesting season that's for sure. It won't take long for the spiteful spammers crowd to turn on him big time.
-
I looked at him and just got pissed off that we aren't even allowed to THINK of buying someone like that. Sorry like but the PL is a closed shop. The ones who got in before the drawbridge got pulled up are in for life.
-
Exactly. Tonali was the only player I thought about when considering who would be next in line for the vultures if we cave on Isak.
-
Not only was he winning the ball in the 50-50's, his first touch immediately following was often sublime, putting him in great positions to start the counter attacks. It was elite football, and we are going to have the top clubs lusting after him this season I reckon.
