Just watched a highlights video and while I know that's never a full picture I saw enough to make me think Brentford will come out of that very well if they swap him out for Wissa. Kalimuendo looks two footed, can pick a pass and can finish. I would be happy to see us go in for him tbh.

I don't know enough about him, but generally I like to buy players with a higher ceiling rather than a 29 year old, but Wissa is proven so I can understand why we don't want to take any chances.

Yep. This is just a last desperate effort by him and Liverpool to get him over there on their terms. They like to pride themselves on driving a hard bargain, and they will want to show their fans that even when they buy the best they buy them at knockdown prices!

The Wissa deal seems complicated by the AFCON issue, I'm wondering if that's why it's not sorted yet. I get the feeling that we might go for a Wissa/Jackson partnership to eventually replace Isak altogether, but AFCON etc. An alternative might have been Wissa/Kalimuendo...but then we don't get Wissa because Kalimuendo is lined up to be Brentford's replacement for Wissa.

I think we would go for that if Liverpool eventually coughed up the right money for Isak. The AFCON thing is an issue though.

Unfortunately I'm seeing a good chunk of our fanbase are doing exactly that. One of the most popular podcasts The Toon Review has their main guy Paul this morning saying get him out and sold, and obviously that means at the price Liverpool will have dictated. I don't usually watch it just because I'm not a fan of "I'll say it like it is!" brain fart merchants like this. Liverpool are taking the piss here, they are using the player, his agent and the media to do it.

And while I agree that he is paid by Isak and the player has to accept some responsibility, we are clearly dealing with an absolute shark here, the agent might have mob connections for all we know. So I would still leave the door open for Isak to reintegrate once the window closes and the agent has to back off.

This. We still hold the cards, the last thing we do is cave. Get another quality striker in and we can use Isak once the window closes then sell him at his full value.

They won't though. They don't value him that highly and won't go anywhere near the £150m IMO. They'll hope we relent and sell for a lot less, maybe £120-130m otherwise they'll sign someone else I reckon.

If we are hanging on in the hope of landing Ramsay I hope it is fairly well down the line. I would be a bit pissed off if we missed the Khanouss release clause deadline then got told Ramsay's not for sale either.

Brentford are looking to sign Kalimuendo to replace Wissa. Reports that we are in for him as well, just wondering if him being 23 means we might be pushing on that if we feel the Wissa price is too high.

If there's a relatively cheap release clause, I'm not really sure why we are waiting for it to elapse. Why not just pay it and get it done?
