Never heard that figure before your post, the general consensus was that their offer was £12m and some on here thought we might get £20m.

Says a lot about some of our players lack of ability to step up for the big games that we made Casimero and Amrabat look world class after a year of them stinking up the premier league. A sniffle doesn't stop him, but a 60% Isak has effectively been stopped anyway as we saw against Brighton. If he's recovered enough not to be affected by fatigue, we'll see the real deal.

The premise I'm working off is that the more earning power a club has, eventually they can buy the best players and hire the best staff in it's simplest form. If there's an alternative view where we can compete long term without that earning potential I'm keen to hear it.

Yep. Any solution which means we can't build a stadium which can bring in the same income as the Emirates or Spurs new ground means we'll always be at a permanent disadvantage. I'm just not sure how we can turn St James into a multi-event site such as those given the building restrictions, but if it can be done, happy days. Otherwise we should really move if there is any options out there which can seriously be considered.

I keep reading these sort of comments, then invariably he turns out just to be telling it like it is.

Man U is still a bigger name than Newcastle, for players who don't have local ties, there is some extra prestige in saying you're a Man U player. I'd like to think we are still getting this done, but if he's a free agent and there's one of the cartel clubs interested, then it would be daft to think it's a done deal.

It will end up being more like £10-12 million if the Maxi sale to Saudi was anything to go by. For us to be able to get £20m would probably need an offer of something similar from a club outside of Saudi to justify it.

If we spend big money on one position it might be a striker rather than right wing IMO.

If Chelsea are backing away from his wage demands then it doesn't say much for the EUEFA restrictions on spending if he's sat in Spain turning his nose up at PL salaries.

Hopefully Palace didn't front load his contract like we did with Little Dan. I'll happily be accused of being a hypocrite if it gives us some luscious PSR spending power.

Would we have to pay compensation to release Freedman from Palace? Would be interesting to see how much we are quoted after all the fuss around the fee for Little Dan Ashworth.
