It feels like we are hawking our players around a bit, this Miggy deal certainly feels like it's more club led than the player himself wanting to go.

Well he's caused a shitstorm on this place for no reason if he's made it all up.

I don't think this happens if Joelinton wasn't out for the season. The midfield is down to the bare bones and we don't have any options there.

I think midfield is the most important gap to fill, we can cover Miggy with Murphy or Barnes when they come back. Maybe even Lewis Hall at a push.

Who is that guy? Is there any reason to believe his insistence that Big Joe won't be extending his contract?

I would imagine Murphy might be sold as well in the next year or so. He's 28 and still a good squad player, but if we get a chance to get decent money for him we'll trade him for a younger version.

When it comes to selling to Saudi the price is dictated by market value. If a European club offered £30m for Miggy then we could justify asking for a stupid amount. No club ever has shown that much interest though and certainly not for daft money.

Probably one of my favourite players in the last decade. Will be sad to see him go, but at the same time it's time to upgrade.

Don't think there's that much between the two personally. Miggy has better movement which is no small thing, but Murphy is much more direct.

Selling players for big fees will allow us to move this window. If and when it happens.

Anyway getting back to the transfer business, I don't think we'll see anyone coming in as things stand as I don't think we are selling any of our major stars and we'll probably be hoping that we get enough bodies back in play to still finish in a Europa place.

The football we've played last season and early doors this season before the squad got decimated was some of the best football I've witnessed as a Newcastle fan. If Howe can produce that using players with PL experience more power to him.

Tbf Howe might like Onana because of the type of player he is rather than it being anything to do with PL experience. He's very physical, he's big and fast, and I imagine he'd be ideal for a team that wants to press relentlessly.

Ben Jacobs just made him look even more clueless and it was a shame because Jacobs patter was mostly shite. Some of the comments which were flashing up pulled him up on it but they flew right over Steve's head. Maybe he was concentrating too hard on understanding what Jacobs was actually saying, which was basically FFP is A-OK.

Bored with the lack of NUFC games I have been searching for any snippets I can get my hands on and came across nufcmatters with Steve Wraith as the host. I watched a couple of shows despite my better instincts and it was pretty shite. Wraith spent most of his time congratulating himself on ranting, then in the show where Ben Jacobs was the invited journalist who was a nice bloke but was making daft points about FFP which Wraith looked totaly unprepared to address. Plenty of supporters pulled Jacobs up on it while Wraith just sat there looking non-plussed. What stunned me though is that this channel has almost double the subscribers of the two much higher quality podcasts which I follow, The Toon Review and Loaded Mag. Is it an age thing?

So do I but I don't think it's the primary factor otherwise we wouldn't be buying Bruno and Tonali.

Don't get me wrong, if he leaves we are definitely going to be a worse side for it. I just think the club will look at long term over short and they won't want to miss out on a significant transfer fee while they can still get it. Especially considering we desperately need a midfielder. Anyway, my gut feeling is that we won't get enough to make it worthwhile anyway so he'll still be here for the rest of the season. I'll be happy enough with that as well, I do like having good players at the club.

That Tino Livramento has looked quite decent to me, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could step up and do a good job.

He'll be closing on 34 in the summer and we'll get less every year. Yes he's a fabulous player but his shelf life is limited, I think the club would have to make hard decisions if they want to keep progressing.

Just read in one of the papers again today how McTominay suits our ethos being tall and physical.

I'm inclined to agree because I think by the time we can put together a decent midfield and bench we'll be further behind, but at the moment we are just 6 points behind 6th spot, while that's the case we are still in with a shot of putting a run together. But no chance if Wilson goes and we don't sign a replacement.
