He's a pretty dominant centre back in the Darren Peacock mode, in that he's not really top class in the Terry or Woodgate mode, but he's pretty solid and will do a decent job. I would prefer a specialist midifelder so I say stick with him in defence, hopefully alongside a really top class CB. Taylor's done ok recently, but the two together still aren't 100% convincing.

As has been said before, tactics can be overstated, having good players is the most important thing. Even so, it's necessary to put players in positions which suit them, and Keegan has got it spot on with the current 4-3-3. It's not future-proof, but it allows Barton, Butt and Geremi to create a bit of an engine room without much pace. The use of Owen at the front of the midfield diamond has been a masterstroke though. Harper's been rock solid in my view. You only have to look at the problems Spurs and Arsenal have had with keepers to appreciate we are really quite lucky to have Harper.
