On the plus side, Owen is going to have to come to terms with the fact he isn't valued that highly any more. No one is going to pay a fee for him and he isn't going to a major club in this country IMO. Man City and the like will be his best option or stay here and be part of Keegan's revolution - assuming he's in Keegan's long term plans which is by no means certain.

I don't think it's cut and dried that he wants away, Keegan did say we have some time to work with him, and he does tend to have mood swings, so he might well swing back yet! I doubt replacing him will be that easy, either, although it could be argued that his explosive speed isn't matched by his use of the ball sometimes.

The players you have mentioned there are all cream of the crop. How many of that type are realistically around and available? I'm trying to think of where we need players for specific positions where we are short. A left winger to replace Zog if he leaves? A defensive midfielder to replace Butt? A right winger - Bentley maybe? A mobile centre forward?

Do you think Arsene might be kicking himself a bit? Didn't Bentley ask to leave ... in fact from what I remember he pretty much demanded it! Besides is he really better than any of the players in their first team right now? From what I've seen of him he doesn't look to be that quick, similar to Milner, but his use of the ball is excellent. He also looks like a winner, someone with a bit of hunger which is where the similarity to Milner ends.

It depends on our ambition. If you could get into the Champions League on a regular basis by signing mostly British players other clubs would be doing it. How many of the current top 4 have teams which are made up of predominantly British players?

We're an easy club to make fun of though. Part of it is down to the Reign of the Fat Bastard in my view. Now I know he has his fans here so I don't want to start anything off, but if you have a blustering blimp mouthing off to the national press about punching people on the nose, Geordie women being dogs etc, it makes it a lot easier to take the piss. Big Mike Ashley with his toon shirt is going to get it for sure. Add Dennis Wise to the mix, with Keegan in charge and you can see why the Press will practically set up camp at St James. On the other side though, despite all the mockery, I think there is a lot of genuine affection for Keegan, and if he can turn things round we'll get our share of good press.

It's not all bad, Duff has been a big plus, Beye, Faye and possibly Enrique all look to have what it takes to be useful players. A bit of quality investment in the summer should make a big difference. The key being quality, no more bargain buys.

Can't say I am too surprised at how it has turned out, while I agree Keegan might have over-rated our players, I think given some patience he will address this in the summer. This is precisely WHY it a smart move to sack Allardyce swiftly and unceremoniously - so Keegan could use this wasted season to assess the squad. A lot of these players are not physical enough to play Sam's devolutionary football, and are too slow to play pass and move to Keegan's taste. Butt, Geremi, Emre, Smith should be sold and replaced with more technically gifted players with some pace if we want to follow the Arsenal blueprint. A forward with height and pace ala Adebeyor would make a massive difference as well.

Had rave reviews about Krul from my Falkirk season ticket holder of a friend, thinks he's miles better and has loads more potential than Kasper Schmeichel who they had on loan last season. I saw enough of Krul in one match in Europe to see he was a cut above. Young, but has everything Given and Harper have in their closet, with height and self-belief to add. It's time to bring him home instead of getting injured playing in the Scottish League, or anywhere else for that matter.

Krul needs to be no 2 when he regains full fitness as he's a real prospect. Harper should be sold imo.

The cameraman didn't catch Duff and the defender when the ball was played, they were too far ahead of the play. How convenient. Looked miles on from where I was sitting, lush through ball from Charlie. looked off from where i was but maybe cos he ran round the back of the defender. like to see it again I saw it, was a perfectly good goal. Refs and linesmen are supposed to give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker so to talk about being 'a fraction offside' is going against the whole point.

I hope he works out, but ts far too early to have him down as a world class-type defender. Yes, he's been good for us, but he's gotten himself into some trouble that really good centre backs really shouldn't, although granted he has normally good enough to recover the situation - but he can't rely on that, and shouldn't be making the errors in the first place. I'm not saying he's not good enough, just that he isn't necessarily brilliant yet. We don't need him to be world class or brilliant, just better than what we've got which he is. In both defence and midfield which is sad but true.

Cacapa's a bit lightweight, but makes up for this with his reading of the game. He's class imo.
