I've a sneaking feeling we might see a lot more of Owen/Martins unless Viduka can remain fit for more than one match in three. Keegan won't be too bothered about the lack of height if he thinks he can get us playing to feet.
-
Milner has some talent, but is a bottler who lacks the killer instinct hence his lack of goals despite having a decent shot on him. Best suited to a club with lower ambitions like 'boro maybe if he wants regular first team football. Otherwise a decent squad player.

Aye man, f*** building for the future. No being serious! lets just watch the youth side, instead of the shower of s**** we've watched all season This is how Arsenal have signed players like Fabregas, Anelka, Vierra etc. in the past btw. Worth pondering.
-
If we really think he's good enough for our squad - and we must do otherwise why make a bid - we'll pay £3m. Nowt wrong with trying to get him cheaper though which would explain the take it or leave it attitude.

No but N'zogbia is a better player than Duff is NOW. Duff has not went past a winger crossed and created a goal in his 18 months with us. Try and palm Duff off to them he is finished and on massive wages. Very true. I've been disappointed by Duff, he looks off the pace and has no bad intent as an attacking player should have.
-
He's not indispensable but we won't be selling him now, maybe in the summer for the right price. Keegan wins again.

I am pretty sure this one will go through. Mort and Ashley are playing hardball like they did over Dyer.
-
The arrogance counts in his favour for me. Milner might be a much better player if he had some arrogance. Lacks self-belief like many in our side.
-
It was never in any doubt that he'd take off. He turned down Man U then as well iirc. He wasn't just scoring goals, he was sometimes carrying defenders on his back while he did it
-
Wouldn't be surprised to see this one happening if we've made a bid. He doesn't seem to have made a position his own yet which makes you wonder why not? Strikes the ball well, though.

If Keegan doesn't like the idea of having the best young players in the world scouted for him, he shouldn't be here anyway. But he is, and he is quoted as saying he's happy with this situation, as any sensible bloke would be, so let others worry about it.
-
Seeing as we'll be playing on the deck so would I. I thought Viduka was fit though?
-
to me it means they will help in the assessing and acquisition of players with keegan. to be fair you could take it either way, depending on if your positive or negative about the idea. Didn't Keegan say he was against the idea when he was suggested as Director of football under Allardyce? That's what worries me. I think he told Mort that he'd have to discuss it with Allardyce as he was the manager at the time.
-
Forget the result, this match should tell Keegan a lot about the players he's got and their desire to compete at the highest level. Will they be up for it to the bitter end or will the heads drop at the first setback?

Berbatov is a different player to Shearer, more silky and as you say his touch is sublime. Shearer was more brute force, probably the best traditional CF this country has produced in recent memory anyway. No he wasn't, Shearer could be just as classy tbh. He was in no way a 'brute force' striker, at least in his prime. I said more brute force in comparison to Berbatov. That means stronger, I don't think many people would argue that.

No point in getting wound up about it any more. This is going to happen, we just have to stay focused and keep going in the right direction. It's their problem not ours.

Aye, he was one of the top 3 or 4 strikers in the world at his peak though. It's a shame his peak was before he came here though. Didn't quite have the same movement that he had before the knee operation imo. Aye we only had 1 year of the real Shearer as such, until he fucked his ankle at Goodison. One thing me and Alex have always maintained he was about 80% of the player after that, just shows how good he was that he still scored all those goals. Also never seemed to strike free-kicks with the inside of his boot after that injury as well. Shearer at his peak for me was at Southampton and pre-injury days at Blackburn. People who saw him here probably didn't realise just how explosive he was back in those days.
-
Fuck the press. Asley and Mort are building a juggernaut which will hit them all for six. End of.

Yes - Keegan will be bound to run away, thereby proving the press scum right and giving them what they wanted. What a great move that would be.

It wasn't that long ago - around the time of the last WC i think - when many members on this forum dismissed Adebayor as being 'a glorified version of Ameobi'. Keegan has compared a potential Shola Ameobi to Emmanuel Adebayor, and wonders why Shola cannot be as good as the Arsenal hit man. Keegan said today: “If you look at Adebayor, what I would say to Shola Ameobi is what I saw of Adebayor a year and a half ago when he first came on to the scene is what I saw of Ameobi when he first came on to the scene.” “That guy has kicked on and Shola has had injuries and other little problems, I guess, but he is 26 now and I don’t think it is too late.” “Everywhere you go when you see a performance like that, you can say to a player, ‘He is a similar size to you. Has he got more ability than you?” “Well, it would look so at the moment, but truthfully, I think Shola has got a lot of stuff packaged there that hasn’t quite come out properly yet.” “People might say Alan was dominating when he was here - of course he was; so was (Thierry) Henry, but Adebayor has gone straight in and filled his boots.” “That’s not easy, that’s almost as difficult as filling Alan Shearer’s here.” Adebeyor can head the ball, which is usually a big advantage for a big guy.

I think Keegan is wise enough to realise that this should be seen as helping his chances of success rather than undermining him. Why wouldn't he want this sort of support and know-how?

Grampus 8, Brother BigTRon. It was Grampus 8. Or was it Grandpa's 8? I find this new setup very confusing, but I'm worried that I cannot recollect the time Wenger was our manager? Did we win anything?! Surely we must have? This is dork territory. It's over to you my friend.
