  1. Not too concerned either way. He looked good in the friendlies, but I get the feeling he's probably burned his boats with Keegan. He was shipped out pretty sharpish after some comments leaked out about Keegan's team talk iirc.
  2. If we can finish the season on a high, which I think we will, I can see Newcastle United under Keegan being a big draw again. We might be able to compete for players that you would have thought were out of reach otherwise. I could quite easily see David Bentley for example, wanting to be part of the Keegan revolution if we can keep playing the type of football we have in the last few games. I am looking forward to the summer activity to say the least.
  3. Yeah I hope it is quickly forgotten, as we return to the level we got used to and regular European football. I just can't help feeling that Owens goal was an absolutely massive for us, but there again I had become convinced, at one stage, that we WERE going down. No doubting it was a massive goal, but having been through both situations for me it doesn't really compare. Kelly's goal was literally just about the last throw of the dice, there were no home games against fellow strugglers to give us another shot.
  4. Woodgate's played against us twice now and they've shipped 7 goals. Love it

    Abdoulaye Faye

I don't agree with this, I'd say Bent's header was fantastic and extremely hard to defend against, it was so well placed and even Harper had little to no chance. I've liked Faye ever since he arrived. I'd love for us to buy another big central defender to partner him with Faye actually kept Bent pretty quiet and you are right, Bent did fantastically well to get that header in from there. It's not like he was unmarked.
  6. You've just reminded me how badly I want us to shaft Harry Redknapp. Lord, make it come to pass

    Abdoulaye Faye

He's a pretty dominant centre back in the Darren Peacock mode, in that he's not really top class in the Terry or Woodgate mode, but he's pretty solid and will do a decent job. I would prefer a specialist midifelder so I say stick with him in defence, hopefully alongside a really top class CB. Taylor's done ok recently, but the two together still aren't 100% convincing.
  8. Would be difficult to believe, except they actually played like they believed it.
  9. I don't know how good a coach he is but he seems to fit in well as part of Keegan's team, while Pearson always acted and sounded like a Souness type. It's a happy camp again.
  10. Both players lack the legs to compete at the highest level and that's not taking anything away from how well they have done last few games. We need players to be able to go 4-4-2 as well, and I think that's where they will struggle.
  11. I don't think we have even started to get carried away to be honest. KK's done the tricky part and then some. To have that team playing football on the floor to even half decent effect needs applauding. Reading was going to be a tricky match before yesterday, but I'm certain we'll beat both them and the unwashed now.
  12. Well it helps if the manager encourages you to pass rather than lump it high and long like Allard...well...never mind.

    4-3-3 long term ?

As has been said before, tactics can be overstated, having good players is the most important thing. Even so, it's necessary to put players in positions which suit them, and Keegan has got it spot on with the current 4-3-3. It's not future-proof, but it allows Barton, Butt and Geremi to create a bit of an engine room without much pace. The use of Owen at the front of the midfield diamond has been a masterstroke though. Must have a few hacks scratching their heads re Keegan's tactical naievety
  14. There's a female caribbean cricket commentator who is actually not bad because she knows her stuff. The problem with this football commentator is she is just rank.

    What Four Players?

Harper's been rock solid in my view. You only have to look at the problems Spurs and Arsenal have had with keepers to appreciate we are really quite lucky to have Harper.

    What Four Players?

I'd go with that, but I think we also need a really commanding centre back so I don't think four signings is enough, and I'm pretty sure we'll see more.
  17. Had a hard time reading newspaper drivel for the last couple of months? Tired of everyone lining up to have a dig when the chips were down? Well the shoe's on the other foot now so I'll start with Jimmy Greaves who wrote this last week: Well Jimmy you doddering old twat, your beloved Spurs just took a right pasting on their own turf. It seems strange to say it, but I really hope you're still alive next season you can watch us hit 7 on our own ground. I seem to remember Keegan's side walloping 7 past Spurs in the past, and as you are now witnessing history can repeat itself....

    4-3-3 long term ?

He's getting the best out of the players at his disposal and then some. Let's be honest, who could have foreseen Barton Butt and Geremi looking so fluid earlier on this season?
  19. Was listening to talksport in the car before the game today, and one of the pundits talking about us was saying he liked the look of the two full backs, Enrique and Beye, and how they would only be stronger next season. After the last few games, I hope we aren't looking anywhere else tbh. Fair play to Fat Sam, he was a low level manager with limited vision but he signed a couple of good un's there I reckon.
  20. Spot on. Come on guys give over and let's enjoy this one. It's been a long time coming.
  21. Keegan's magic has started to work. I can just bet those players will be feeling 10ft tall right now and like the great man said, those who leave this summer will be the ones missing out. Yes Charlie I'm talking about you
  22. All the shite we've had to put up with while biting our lip, all the snide laughter...but it was worth it. When we were getting battered Keegan said something so impressive I made it my signature weeks back. How sweet does it look now?

    Graeme Souness

Patrick Kluivert in midfield with Shola up front - I'll never forget it as the single shitest team selection in living memory.

    Sunday Gossip

Isn't his shooting and crossing meant to be a bit weak?
  25. Don't see what's so saleable about Harchester United for that matter. Who gives a shit about involving 2nd rate actors from some daft tv show? A much better idea would be to rename the club Whorechester United and have strippers at every match. That would get them on tv no question.
