Yeah I was against sending him out on loan as well, just from what I saw in pre-season where he looked a real threat, quite similar to what he was doing yesterday. He's a huge talent, just needs to be honed a bit more for games against the best sides where winning the ball back isn't easy.

Yep we are missing the goals part, but it's a hell of a leap to think that Elliott is the answer on the back of 45 mins against one of the bottom teams. Many were debating letting him go on loan in the summer. He can still play a massive part off the bench fwiw, just think we shouldn't ramp up our expectations too much just yet.

Anderson did great when he came on, but it was 45 mins, we know what Joelinton has brought to the team over two thirds of the season. It's the same as the Willock situation, it's not just about the goals, it's about what a player brings to the team dynamic, Joelinton is absolutely one of our best midfielders who covers the whole left side and central areas box to box. Doesn't just cover ground either, he's great at bringing the ball out under pressure and releasing players. Not to mention he's also a beast in closing the oppositon down. This was a game against one of the bottom sides in the division as well, just need to keep some perspective.

We need him more.

Was gagging over that in the match thread. He's got some fantastic skills when he's up for it. Expect Eddie to keep coaxing these out, he'll know what he's capable of, and he'll demand it week in week out.

Joelinton's a midfield boss, it's not just about goals.

He didn't have it 5 years ago. He's always been a mid-table player at best, he only stood out here because our standards were so low. Him and Colback would be run off the park now. In fact he was yesterday, he only stayed on the pitch because we had a ref from the 1990s in charge.

I think people don't really watch what's going on off the ball, or how the ball is transitioned from defence to attack, only see the fluffed shot or his facial expression. It was clear as day when he was injured that we lost plenty from the team dynamic while he was out.

That might have been his injury tbf. I've been fairly critical of him this season but wouldn't want to judge him if he was only half fit.

Agreed on both points. He'd love to have been here for the rest of his career, but just like when he was here, he was chasing shadows. Not up to the top level, but wish him well at Forest.
