I'd rather see us sign a left back. We'd then have Santon who can play either side, Simpson who plays on the right and a new player who plays on the left. Raylor as 4th choice/emergency cover. Would be good competition for spots and we wouldn't have to stick players in where they aren't comfortable in the event that Santon gets injured.

Only saw the second half, thought we looked very poor but at the same time comfortable. With Ba and Tiote gone any three points is an achievement, regardless of performance. Can't believe he didn't start Ben Arfa again, he must hate the guy like. Always looks the player most likely to make something happen, that bit of play where he played Best in was sublime.

I reckon he had a falling out with Pardew at half time in the Chelsea match, seems madness that he didn't start any of the so-called easier games that followed. Was pretty anonymous in that game and got taken off at the break, hasn't gotten a start since. Doubt we'll see him against Man U, if he doesn't start in the cup we may as well give up.

In a nutshell. Would like him as 4th choice striker, and would keep him and sell Shola if possible. He'll work hard and put himself about and is always somewhat of a threat to grab a goal. Not enough talent to be first choice for a Premiership team though, unfortunately.

Delighted he got the goal, hopefully this will give him some confidence. Start him at Liverpool please Pardew.

Perfect result for us.

Great result, any three points away from home is always worthy of praise. Big pros were Williamson looking solid and Ben Arfa getting a goal. Both players are going to be important if we're going to do well in the coming months. Negatives were how poor our wide players looked for much of the game. Credit to Obertan, he kept plugging away and set up the second very well, but for long periods he and Jonas were useless going forward.
