I'd have kept the faith if he wasn't coming out with such shit. Systems don't matter, you just have to work hard. We didn't play 4-4-2 against Swansea. We're lacking intensity because of the UEFA cup. Just a few examples of absolute tosh.

His defensive headers ALWAYS go into dangerous areas. It's like he's trying to head it to the oppositions attacking players. It's amazing because when he's attacking, he heads it miles away from our players. He is just crap though. He's not a sackless twat as well like Simpson.

That's because he's being asked to be some kind of target man, old stylee. Criminally our entire side/players look really tired after 60 minutes. That's basically been Ba since he joined us, though. He fades terribly. I've noticed he does seem to fade quite a lot but then I've seen him put in full 90 minute shifts. In general though, I'd say along with quite a few of our players, he doesn't have the best range in terms of stamina and that for me personally is a training issue. If he genuinely cannot last the full 90 he should be used in ways that his stamina etc. correlate with. He is being flogged though in my opinion in the same way Jonas is often flogged. I don't understand how him 'being flogged' had anything to do with being unable to control the football for the first 45 minutes of the game. Was he tired in the first 3 minutes when the ball was played into him in acres of space and subsequently bounced 5 feet away from him?

His goals are masking the fact that he's playing horrifically at the moment. His touch is shocking and his decision making is absolutely terrible.

Shocking yesterday. Barely pressed the ball. Abeid did more in ten minutes than he did. Regressed hugely since the summer. -
Re this long passes thing against Cabaye. Surely his pass to Ba against the Mackems would be counted as a 'long pass' by a machine?
-
To be fair though, they don't continually invite pressure onto themselves by playing hit and hope balls to the opposition defenders - they pass the ball on the deck and retain possession. For me, every player in a Premier League team should be having an impact on most games, either offensively or defensively but preferably both. Simpson doesn't have an impact on any game unless he makes a goal line clearance - he is one of the most anonymous players i've seen. Modern top-level fullbacks have so much more to their game than Simmo - look at Rafael, Clichy, Kolarov, Kyle Walker, Baines, Richards etc etc. The gulf in quality and technique is absolutely massive He has an impact by knowing things like where he's supposed to stand, which is very important as a defender. Kyle Walker strikes a ball well and runs fast but defensively he's an utter mug. Who would you rather have between Simpson and Walker? Depends what sort of team I'm putting together really. I wouldn't want either long term. Walker's been culpable for every goal we've scored against Spurs since he's played for them. Including Hatem's penalty where Van Der Vaart and Lennon fouled him? A tad harsh.

Re the long ball stuff, I honestly don't care if we play long ball. We beat Man U last season playing it, we played it under Bobby. My main gripe is that we do it really poorly. Other than Shola, none of our strikers can hold it up. We don't get our midfielders around the strikers or in the box when we have it wide. Direct football is fine if done well. You can get your dangerous players into dangerous areas quickly and effectively. We often went long to Shearer who got hold of it or flicked on it to Bellamy. We'd then turned defences and gave Robert and Solano a real platform to work off. At the moment it's just aimless and even if we do win it up top, it ends up just being played backwards with the hope that Hatem will skin everyone.

Got to love the old 12 man tactic. -
Karagounis? Fucking Mackems are going to win aren't they.
-
Does anyone know where he was for their first yesterday? He was literally no where to be seen.
-
I does get depressing when you KNOW you can pick better side that the Manager. Just the other week he was saying we need Marveaux's 'clever pass' when Cabaye is out. Outside of Cabaye and Hatem, not one of our first front 6 have a brain cell.

Could be a cracking left back but as a left winger it's so obvious what he's trying to do and therefore easy to shut down.

Sounds like they did tbh: "Immediately following the Premier League fixture against West Ham United on Sunday the Club went through the normal communication channels to advise the Senegalese Federation that both Papiss and Demba Ba would not be available for the international friendly match between Niger and Senegal scheduled for Wednesday, 14th November 2012, due to injury." No idea what 'normal communication channels' are in this case but we're claiming we got in touch. I'm not convinced - weren't most people of the impression Cisse would be off on international duty? I don't know the facts either of course, but even if Senegal did have a grudge against us, they'd need something to work with in order to lodge this claim, some failure/incompetence in procedure. Not sure of the exact regulations tbh, I'd need to have a little dig for them. They've obviously got FIFA on their side though so there's not much we can do in all honesty. From a completely selfish point of view I hope he tells them to fuck off and retires from International football. You actually can't retire from international football. They can pick you anytime they want. I've heard that before but surely it's bollocks. It amounts to fucking slavery- he doesn't want to do and has no contract saying he has tot but is forced to. It's not even slightly enforceable. I remember Makelele being called up after he quit when he didn't want to play anymore but was forced to. That's why I'm saying it. I'm not sure if FIFA clarified the situation after that. Maybe they did and you're allowed to quit. Aye that's the example I was going to use. I do recall that. I imagine Makelele didn't kick up enough of a stink- I seem to recall the French manager and Mourinho arguing about it and him being caught in the middle. If I was a footballer, I would refuse to play international football. I'd then sue the crap out of anyone who tried to make me. -
