  1. I'm not that disappointed tbh. Wasn't Bolton's goals against tally worse than ours last season?
  2. Not the sharpest tool in the box by all accounts.
  3. I don't care whether he goes or not if we have a top quality fit first choice left back. We still need a squad. Unless there's a decent understudy in the stiffs, in which case he can fuck off. I'd be amazed if anybody will actually pay to take him off our hands though.
  4. Row after row of empty red plastic seats to look at. The hush of a half filled stadium. Pigbag. If you're lucky. Gareth Southgate. A relegation battle to look forward. Massimo Maccarone. Fuck me and fly me to the moon. That's living the dream all right
  5. Souness is like Gullit, still trying to justify failure. He won't stop as long as anyone will listen. We know the truth.
  6. I think MO was only ever passing through, and if he leaves I won't be in the least bit surprised. His wages are huge and his contribution has been minimal, so if we managed to replace him with a class player I wouldn't be too gutted. Especially as he'll want to be elsewhere next season and will probably break down with injury again anyway. If he's too big for the club then let him go I say. From Shepherd's perspective the signing made perfect sense - replace Shearer, get goals into the team, lift the team, sell shirts, sell season tickets. The only truly barmy thing is the size of the release fee.

I enjoyed the Blade series but Demolition Man was terrible. Overrated at £10m for sure
  8. "Sam Allardyce doesn't respond to cheap shots like this"
  9. Sam.......Sam......oh Sam........heeeeeeurgghhhhhhhhh! Now I feel cheap and dirty :-[
  10. Clear as day Big Sam knows what he is doing. He makes it clear that he is working WITH the players for mutual development and he also makes it clear that all lines of communication are open. It's heartening he's not referring to himself in the third person. Unlike Ratfink.
  11. The first radical, thought provoking and intelligent post in this thread. blueyes.gif How hurtful. To be serious Parky, I question your assumption one or the other has to go. Owen has been injury prone and shouldn't play in every game even if he stays fit. If we set ourselves up around Viduka with pacy frontman alongside (with maybe Carroll deputising in that role), I think we will need Martins. Put another way, if Owen is injured would you be happy with Dyer/Ameobi/Caroll playing upfront with Viduka? If we bring in someone like Anelka, then sure, I can see one or the other has to go.
  12. Are you sure that's right? I seem to remember Jay Jay Okocha used to shoot and miss quite a lot......
  13. ...yeah but you have to choose. Oh... it's one of those threads. I choose Martins to stay. Over Owen one of the greatest finishers in Engish football ever? You're a winker Parky. In these new billionaire-tastic days I say let's keep all of them in case of injuries. And bring a couple more in, just because we can
  14. Personally I've come round to thinking Dyer's best position is on the subs bench, to be thrown on against tiring opposition if we need a late goal. I also suspect he'll spit his dummy out if he has to play in defence for long, it's not exactly going to pull the birds is it? I'd be happy if this came off but I can't help but feel that if he's really on £80k p/w, we'd be better off selling Dyer if there's no place for him in central midfield (if anyone will take him that is, given his wage demands and injury record). Also given his age I wonder how much longer his pace will last and there's not much more to his game imo. I'm kind of indifferent to whether he stays or goes but on balance I'd rather have a proven right back, so long as he's not short fat and Irish.
  15. I agree. They would be short and pithy I expect
  16. Now he won't be wearing black and white, I'm looking forward to seeing one of his trade mark air kicks or high sliced clearances next season
  17. Hope so. Allardyce-Anelka-Ashley. All 3 must be in place. http://www.gameweb.gr/lordoftherings/photos/images/gandalf.jpg Parky: "How can this not be so, did the planets not foretell it?" This is a very dangerous time, the sands have shifted...I did not see red nose strike from the shadows...Ashley himself is in grave danger. Fergy as before is the dream breaker. http://www.patient.co.uk/images/dis100.jpg "In yer face Parky!"

  20. Who cares what Gullit thinks these days? Ancient history imo

    Craig Moore

A squad player at best, but too injury prone to justify that position. Cheerio.
  22. Because no-one ever bothers to mention the performance-related bonuses that are added on. Admittedly, the total package doesn't come up Newcastle's levels but is still better than generally quoted. It was also going to be reviewed this summer by Levy but that review may now be deferred The source for this rumour was Ward who used to contribute regularly on the 606 forum.........that says it all really. I stick by what I said previously, Spurs bid £8m rising to £10m (which was reluctantly accepted by Charlton) and Egghead has bid the full asking price of £15m. Bent doesn't want to go there and has gone on holiday. One looks to be coming to fruition. I did speak of Younes Kaboul about a month ago (http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=39258.25) and that should be finalised after the final French league matches this weekend. This is now widely being reported by the media. I am also more optimistic about getting Gareth Bale now than at any other time, even if he is still trying to get a guaranteed starting place. On the downside, Chelski have bid £10m for Chimbonda and Levy is seriously thinking about it. Good money for him but not so easy to think of a good quality replacement. Beginning to fear the worst with that. Would be a disaster tbh. First time we get this right back position sorted since the Steven Carr days and were now going to off load him. Doubt we would accept tbh but if Chelsea offer silly money then its bye bye Pascal :'( :'( :'( :'( Don't worry. We'd reluctantly have to accept a bid of £6m for Steven Carr, problem sorted.
  23. I don't care where he's gone as long as he's gone. I'm more interested in who we bring in to replace him.....I'd be surprised & delighted if 'Arry let Campbell go
  24. Thanks & good luck. Right time for all concerned methinks.
