We were persistently told that Botman wanted to sign for Milan too. If Ashworth believes that Maddison wants to move elsewhere, he won't even move for him. You'd have to be blind or stupid to want a spurs move.

2 things interested me in that interview... Firstly, he hinted at wanting to play in his favoured position. Presumably at number 8. Secondly, when asked about how long he will stay, he was rather non-committal. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it and hopefully he signs a new deal soon.

Because we need an AM and DM, McTominay is neither, therefore that's potentially 3 midfielders, plus other positions.

If we are looking at signing McTominay, I'd wager we are planning on doing ALOT of business this summer.

I don't want to sign McTominay either but worst case scenario is that he's a like for like with Longstaff. He's not creative enough to do the things that a Maddison type could and he's not good enough on the ball to play number 6 regularly. I do think he could do a similar job to Longstaff and Joelinton in the number 8 position, high energy, pressing, box to box etc. I've no doubt that Howe would improve him from a tactical and mental point of view. In short, I don't want him but he would strengthen our squad, just not our first team.

All of that was unreal. Hard to imagine things going wrong when you look at that. So powerful and moving. Imagine anyone wanting to leave that? Such investment has gone into the spirit of the club. What's clear is that the "rawness" has disappeared. He now looks in tune with the rest of the team.... However, with that, he's lost a touch of his individualism. It's a fine balance. It's like he's slightly afraid of taking people on etc. He's certainly moved up a level and can now take that into next season.

He's had an excellent game. He's just not a modern full back but he's helped snuff out everything.

I'd swap Anderson for Maxi and shift Isak number 10.
