  1. Mugs. He might get them 10 goals in the championship.

It does seem as though almost everyone thinks he is on his way to us, other than.. erm.. us.
  3. Majority? He's better than every single one of them. Shockingly true.

That's the real reason behind this negativity, so they can turn around and pretend like they are suprised when we do sign him.
  5. Gerrard just scored a cracker too.

People don't sign players on the basis of one goal FFS. On the other hand Marsaille may have just trebled his price.

I agree that the sensible option is to get players in early, in practice it isn't so simple.
  8. Depends on the situation for me. Injuries, form, fitness, moral and opposition all change my opinion on the sort of line up we should adopt in cup games. If we were playing Sunderland in the cup would people want us to play a weakened side? If we were playing Man Utd at Old Trafford should we risk our best players to injury? It all depends on the scenario, ideally we will get some shite team at home, which would make our decisions far easier.

Zinaldo reminds me of those people who read the BBC gossip column and report it as fact. The difference is that he is reading French gossip columns.
  10. Aye Onuoha would have fit the bill. However, we can't fault Chris for sticking with his players, he signed both Perch and Simpson. We have the two Taylor's who can play right back too.

Tommorow will give the press a chance to quiz the cryptic Hughton over the transfer, such chances can often be revealing. I'm in know doubt that he will be conducting more than one set of transfer dealings this week, whether they come to fruition or not is another matter. We may well here something on Ranger to Blackpool too.

Do you think it's more like buying a candy bar? transfers shouldn't take weeks like this one has been doing. there is 3 weeks of the transfer window to bring in the 3-4 players we need, we simply can't afford to lose any time! i seem to remember us selling woodgate to real, in a matter of hours, that's how business should be done! Marseille have many suitors for Ben Arfa. We had one suitor for Woodgate who are a bigger club and we're offering a lot of money. No brainer so we bit their hands off, different scenario entirely. And we made one of the best sales in the clubs history, up there with Dire for 8m.
  13. Not surprised, I've always said they never deserved a manager as good as O'Neill. Southgate is more fitting form them or even Souness. Still doing your predictable, smalltime routine, I see. I'd point out where you're making yourself look a bit daft, but you're doing such a great job yourself, it seems a shame to tread on your toes. The whole Villa hate-in by some on here, because of some 7 fans or something is embarrassing to the enth degree. If you had any brains you'd see the hypocrisy and irony in it. Brummie will tell you, I've disliked Villa for a number of years. But lets not criticise such a lovely club shall we ? That's even more embarrassing. You want to get yourself one of those life thingys. Do you want a leg-up onto your high horse?
  14. Ah the old managers left rumour..... this means he will be gone within the year.
  15. I love to generalise and i think Villa fans are cunts. Villa won't go any further than where they are now, unless Lerner discovers Oil in his back garden.

Nonsense. Million pound deals don't get done over a phone call. It's only because this has made it into the public domain why people are making such a big deal out of it. Are you really so naive that you think Ben Arfa is the only player we are trying to do a deal with?

Bloody drama queens. These things take time, we should fucking know that by now, and we are clearly the front runners for HBA. We aren't in any rush to get him in, as he will not start for us straight away anyway, Hughton wouldn't throw him in the deep end. If we can get him in the next 7 days or so he might be available for Villa.
  18. Far too early to be writing off Perch, although it may be a benefit to him if expectations are low.

The fact that he has said nothing has been agreed means we are in talks. Which should please people.
  20. 'Chance at the big time', I think he'd have a chance at the big time with Aston Villa, and that he has no chance with Everton. I also don't think there's a more established English team that will appoint him any time soon... though maybe Man United or Arsenal want to prove me wrong on that. Redknapp's ensconced at Spurs, Chelsea want superstar managers, Man City are mental and Liverpool are also from Liverpool. His only other option would be to go abroad, which is something Brits rarely do... although I do seem to remember something from a year or two back about him learning Spanish or something. I think Villa might well have missed their moment because of developments at Man City and Spurs - a better manager a couple of years ago and things could have been very different, I feel. When Man City break into the top four (which is inevitable), Spurs, Liverpool, Villa and Everton will all belong to the same bracket and the only chance of them joining the "big four" will be if they spend the money Man City have. Spurs have been fortunate this year that Liverpool were shite but they won't remain their long IMO (unless Arsenal slip, which i doubt).

I can't actually imagine Ashley being involved in these sorts of negotiations either, that will be Dirk's job, he will be required to stick within Ashley's "budget" though.
