Can't be bothered reading all the previous pages but I would like to see a bid for Anelka. He is out of favour at Chelski and would be worth a punt at 5 or 6 m

I'm optimistic but that's just plain wrong. and maybe an AM I'm a Barton & Geremi fan you see Definitely in need of at least one more quality midfielder and desperate for a centre forward imo. Creativity in midfield has been lacking a bit, but an in-form Barton is very good (unfortunately not an incarcerated Barton though) Not sure centre forward is all that urgent - but Viduka staying fit is highly unlikely I just think we are sh*t at the back, especially as far as strength in depth goes A big reason we're s*** at the back is our midfield. They can't hold onto the ball, they're not mobile, and they don't have good positioning, plus they have a habit of diving in. Teams walk through our midfield. I couldn't agree more. Our midfield was over-run more times than I can remember last season.

I'm not sure that Benfica is that more attractive than us. At the moment they are playing second fiddle to Porto and even Sporting Lisbon.

Much more to the point is that we have still not signed a playmaker for our mid-field. This is the mid-field that was over-run more times than I like to think last season. Why are ,at least being reported that, we are after fullbacks when the two most critical positions to be filled first are a striker who holds up the ball and a skilled attacking midfielder ?

As well as being utterly useless it was Smith who was marking Ballack when he scored the first goal. Should not be allowed near SJP or the training ground again.

Does anyone know if there are any players who are free agents and are available to be signed ? We desperately need a midfielder as well as a left back. I heard today that Blackburn may be signing Johan Vogel ex Real Betis.

I live in Scotland and wouldn't have either Boyd or Macdonald as we should be looking way higher than these two . Neither are anywhere near EPL standard.

Reported in today's Scottish Daily Mail that newcastle are interested in Steven Fletcher of Hibernian. Apparently KK has been sending scouts to watch him. He is a young striker with a lot of potential but far from the finished article at the moment. Can hold up a ball and is pacy.Also technically good and has scored 13 goals so far this season. I hope this is to give more cover for the future and we will be also looking for a proven goal scorer this summer. (Putting tin hat on and awaiting the usual torrent of abuse regarding Scottish players and Scottish football in general.)

So don't put words in my mouth and if you want to criticize that's OK with me but do not assume that everyone's opinion other than yours is s*** But Keegans already publicly stated that he HAS followed football over the past 3 years, but he hasn't been to a live match. Our failure in this transfer window so far is down to two things........... time...... and the lack of quality players that are actually available. Simple, really.
