if a bid is made and accepted, it should be quicker than when Ashley bought the club though, surely? Ashley was having to buy up shares, and then once he'd done so, was obliged to make a formal offer for the club. If theres money in one big pot (the consortium) buying out Ashley, then surely it could go through in about a week? How long did it take the Arabic group to buy Citeh from Shinawatra? Can't remember it dragging on. It took a while iirc but they put up a wad of cash prior to the take over being formally completed. They were buying the club whatever so they could afford to do it. A consortium/individual buying us would probably not be in this position and wouldn't release any funds until all the i's are crossed and t's dotted etc

Damien Duff Pledges future to Newcastle - BBC

Like I said, the worse performances we put in the more players wages are quoted as. Owen started the season quoted as being on £90 a week. Now the quotes are from £125k per week up to in some places £140k a week. It's crazy. Frankly nobody has a clue what any player is on. Yes we know those who are on high wages but we don't know what those high wages are. He wasn't even worth that tbh -
Swansea and Cardiff within an hour of me so those for certain

He has a squad of over 25 players, he has every right to use them in my opinion. He should play the 11 he would use if this was the match he had to win to get the title thats what he should be made to do! bollocks, quite frankly, there's absolutely nothing in the rules that suggests he has to play anyone in particular apart from players registered to play. yes there is. In every league match, each participating club should field a full-strength team. 1 Goal Keeper 10 Outfield Players Required number of substitutes Thats a full strength team

I know it is, but as opposed to struggling to be brilliant consistently, he looked as though he just wasn't pulling his finger out. If he just upped the work rate and effort, who knows what could have been? Can't live with "what ifs" man. Not a personal dig, I just hate the whole philosophy. He was what he was. If he did have the attitude/application to go with it (at all times) then he wouldn't have been playing for us in the first place... Still think he was fucking ace. Still sends shudders down my spine that our first choices that summer were Zenden and Jeffers

They're both American. 70 percent of American males are called Brad. That's a statistical truth. off topic, but how many Brad's are there in the US national side? 7.7 -

Majority of the press seem to have written us off now. Can only be a good thing from a motivational point of view. -
Wrong. In the same way that when ranking Girls Aloud the order goes (1) Cheryl (2) Kimberley (3) Nadine (4) Sarah Stop (amend the order of these 4 as required) You do not assign a rank to no matter how low down it is.

There is no way that Martinez would leave Swansea for a club like us this summer. He's got the backing of his board, the patience of the fans and the nucleus of a good squad who enjoy playing for him. Why would he leave that (add to this the fact that he has a very strong bond with the club and city)? Personally I'd love him here, one day he will manage Real Madrid, I honestly believe he has the potential to be that good

Robson's team was greater than the sum of its parts. Each player had a purpose and added to the qualities of those around them. Bellamy was a better player with Shearer, Shearer likewise with Bellamy. Robert and Solano were two different types of wide man who kept the opposition on their toes (see also Ginola, D and Gillespie (K) You can go through the squad of the early 2000's and very few of the players would be world beaters on their own, but put together with a plan and a system and they were magic. I've no doubt that Martins would look a better player in Robson's team, similarly I doubt that Bellamy would have the same impact in todays version.

I've got a very calm serene feeling that all will be ok. Don't like it, doesn't feel very 'Newcastle United' -

You might need a new server if he scored the goal that keeps us up btw. The internet will melt, when Ranger scores the winner to keep us up. -
Looking at Fergies 'potentials' We know that the following will play against Barca: Van der Dar Vidic Evra Ferdinand (if fit) Park Carrick Rooney Ronaldo So up for grabs are: Right Back (Neville/O'Shea/Rafael) Midfield (Anderson/Scholes/Giggs) Up Front (Tevez/Berbatov) I'd say that Fletcher and Nani are almost certain starters v Hull, along with at least one of the right backs and midfielders above. Not sure if he will risk one of the 2 strikers. A team containing these players should have more than enough to see off Hull, unless the of course the other spots are filled by Smith, Duff, Nolan and Owen Edit - ignore. Rich posted almost the same above as I was typing

Nah, she was the one who was the honey trap which led to Shep finding Souness writhering naked all over his desk - which (ITK on this one...) led to his sacking. We should be hailing the Tea Lady
-
The mess started the day Robson was sacked. The mismangement/timing of this act (and it doesn't matter if Robson should or shouldn't have been moved upstairs, the decision should have been made in the June/July) immediately erased the work of the prior 3 years. Then along came Souness and out went our attacking nous and potency. Our Va va vooom, our Mojo, our testicular fortitute all gone in the space of 3/4s of a season. Then came the Master Plan. Lets spunk the best part of £50m on 4 players (not including Boumsong....), none of whom seemed to fit onto any long term plan. If it works great, if not then.... (we know whats coming now). Glenn Roeder seems like a nice bloke and did well alongside Shearer for a few games. He's obviously a better bet then that Eugene Levy bloke they've now got at Villa. Oh shit Owens gone and broken himself again - enter Sibierski! Oh well, Glenn sans Shearer actually wasn't all that great was he, and I've run out of cash (damn that Albert Luque fellow). Big Sam works well on a budget (and a few pies). Shame he prefers cloggers like Smith to pace and unpredictability like Dyer. I'm selling up by the way - all hail Mike Ashley. Sam's a bit naff really isn't he - lets get Keegan back, he'll work well with Shearer - oops Al wants to stay on the telly, oh well Dennis is a good DoF instead. You know what, Keegan wants to buy Henry, who does he think I am - a billionaire? lol/rofl/pmsl. Dennis can take charge of transfers and make me a bti of money in the process. Shit, I've scared Keggy off. I'm outta here, the fans have turned into a baying mob and want my testicles for tea. No I'm not, can't sell (fuck) - Joe, getting your fucking arse over here, just don't die on me... Good transfer window me thinks, get rid of the last remaining pace and replace it with Nolan and Taylor (and I've made a bit of cash). Joe's dead (maybe). Chrissy boy will see me right. Oh bollocks, Al - HELP!!!!!!!!! Someone forgot to bribe Howard Webb. And here we are. Its impossible to blame one (or even two people). Its been a long slow painful (laughable from the outside) process to get to where we are today. shepherd started it, many contributed in the middle and Ashleys change of direction failed to stop it and in many ways accelerated it. Oh fuck it - the real reason we are where we are today is selling Aaron Hughes for £1m (either that or Phil Neville taking out Gillespie at Old Trafford, December 1995)

Jeff Stelling all the way for me. It's got potential to be comedy gold (assuming results are going our way of course.......)

A draw will probably be enough for us IMO as I think Hull will lose at Man U. I doubt we'll be going all out for the win with this in mind. I think they may well sneak a draw, or at least be holding out until the last 5/10 minutes. Looks like the 4th choice keeper may be playing for Man U.
