  1. I would, I don't think he gave a shit who he sold the club to, but at least he managed to have it up for sale for 2 years without as much disruption to the team. To be fair though, no-one can really know what the intentions of a new owner actually are, they all come out with the same bollocks about moving the club forwards. You can only guess their motives from their previous exploits, and try to see through the spin and look at what they actually do. Technically it was up for sale from 1997
  2. Muppett on Talk Sport claiming that Taylors performance and confidence is suffering this season playing alongside Colo! Unfortunate slip yesterday, but everyone has one of those once in a while, even Rio had a rubbish 10 minutes on Saturday where he looked like Anton's less talented brother
  3. Newcastle (from): ....... Ranger. Fire with Fire man!
  4. Was waiting for that. Seriously though, who else would there be if we ignored the foreign contingent altogether? The return of Big Sam!
  5. nope. It certainly is. There's far too much emphasis on having this type of player as well as an AM, what's wrong with having two box to box players together? Like Gerrard and Lampard? They're both not box to box though. I reckon they are. Who is then if they aren't? Lee Clarke and Rob Lee.
  6. Aye Ferguson is a right c*** too. So was Brian Clough. That Roeder is a nice fellow though. If you look through history a lot of players change their approach once they step into management - look at Keane and Hughes for recent examples. Who's to say that Shearer the manager = Shearer the player in terms of personal style. He's had, as mentors, the likes of Dalglish, Robson, Keegan, Gullitt, Venables, Hoddle, Souness. All big personalities, all with a distinct style. If he hasn't picked up from those what works and what doesn't then he really is as thick as pig s*** Souness was a c*** a so called hard man, we all know how that went.. KK not a hard man, SBR not a hard man, it takes more than fear to get things working well.

  8. It makes him much, much more qualified than Shearer. Without doubt, but there are probably Sunday League managers who are more qualified than Shearer. But qualified enough to take this job? What about Shearer's role in Roeders caretaker stint. About as much relevance as Ketsbaia's experience imo
  9. I'm sorry but there is nowhere where Shearer could 'prove' himself for this job. If you are getting in a Shearer or Keegan then it becomes more than just management. Dalglish, Gullit, Souness, Allardyce. All to a degree proved themselves elsewhere and either won trophies or got teams playing above themselves. All failed here. Keegan, unproven but worked. The exception is of course SBR, but there is not another Bobby waiting around the corner
  10. Yes, But..... Only if he puts together the following backroom team. Rob Lee Les Ferdinand Phillipe Albert David Ginola Peter Beardsley Tino Asprilla (we need to replace Terry Mac)
  11. They'll probably use an audit firm rather than a legal firm
  12. Didn't a certain Alan Shearer set up at least one of Fentons goals? I'll always remember Gillespie admitting to diving after that game. - as a side note how much of a cunt is it that Phil Neville cost us the league by injuring Gillespie at OT in the December. Fucking Phil Neville of all people!
  13. Euro 92 vs Sweden. Gary Lineker being substituted, England desperately needing a goal. On the bench is Alan Smith (The lanky Original) and Alan Shearer. Who does Turnip bring on? Alan Fucking Smith!
  14. Cisse has the tools to be an awesome player, just never quite clicked together for him (and he's made out of cheap glass)
  15. For me you've got to isolate the derby from every other game, there are too many variables to consider. Yes he got it wrong on Saturday, but prior to that we've had: Good second half v Blackburn Spirited Comeback v Everton Encouraging display v Citeh It will be interesting to see the team on Tues, it will give us a measure of the man as he finally has a squad to play with. Butt should be rested, the foot knock he is carrying gives a convenient excuse to 'rest' his stand in captain. This brings in Barton for a full comeback - I'd also be tempted to give him the armband. Jonas must play as we are at home, its a toss up between Duff and Geremi who gets rested. Also tempted with Zoggy to give us plenty of pace down the wings. I'd also question Shola's ability to play 3 games in a short space of time considering his last couple of years. If he applies something like the above I think we can look forward with a bit of confidence to pulling safe, if he sticks with the old warhorses however then he has fallen into the Roeder trap of playing those who got you into trouble in the first place
  16. If you are pinpointing a single moment then it's Cantona at SJP in 1996. Outside of the Toon its got to be Liverpool's comeback vs AC Milan. I was living there at the time and it compounded Souness' first season, showed how far we had fallen in such a short space of time
  17. Portsmouth may be in trouble depending on who they get in to replace ol Deputy Dawg. They've no money to spend in January and may well come under pressure to sell the likes of Defoe, Crouch and Diarra. West Ham will yo-yo around 14th to 17th but will ultimately be safe I reckon. Bolton, Stock, West Brom are the obvious candidates. Boro look very weak, but there are potentially goals from Mido, Alves and Tuncay which should see them OK. Spurs should recover, but they will come into April still not being safe. As for us, depends on a number of obvious factors Owen being fit Club being sold New manager beign brough in Viduka getting fit Butt losing a leg Duff " " Our games to Christmas are vital, if we are in the bottom three come Jan 1st I think we will go down, pull away from it slightly and we'll be OK. Oh and we will get to the FA cup final again in May
  18. Jonas is twice the player Geremi or Duff is though tbh, we really could do with him today Jonas on for last 25-30 against already tired fullbacks......
  19. Everton Toon not a big derby either remember. Remember kids. Drink and Drugs fuck up your brain
  20. I think we are all being very harsh on poor Styles. The rules should be changed so that you can not challenge a player in the box, infact give them a yards space all around them. Its the only way these poor simple referees are going to stop making silly decisions
  21. Can't believe I'm saying this but it would be harsh to drop Duff atm! I'd only play one of Oba and Owen, ditto Barton and Jonas. Be tempted with something along the lines of Shay Beye - Taylor - Colo - Bassong Geremi - Butt - Guthrie Duff - Shola - Martins Options on the bench from Zoggy Owen Xisco Jonas Barton Ranger Cacapa Harper This game will be won through graft and the odd spark from either team
  22. Hasn't Howard Webb awarded 4 of them as well? Bar last nights I think that all of the penalties were justifiable. Funny how we got away without conceding one at Old Trafford
