you don’t just lose the cost by writing them off though. ffp covers 3 years, so for a 3 year contract of say £1m a year that’s what you get for wages each year. Put a £30m transfer fee on top the annual cost for ffp is £11m. if we wrote the wages off in the first year what happens is you would get the full £33m in the one year which has an impact for the next 2 years before it drops out of the calculations. of course it means you can take more of a punt on year 3 as the cost has gone, and if you are making profits in year 1 despite the write off then obviously the impact goes away. hence my use of trick. It can be used to you advantage, but it can also be something forced on you by auditors and then it could be more problematic

he doesn’t get paid earlier though, wages are still paid until the end of the contract

Amortisation is over the initial contract period, so extending it etc has no impact -

I played my first serious game of 5 a side in goal for nigh on 10 years the other week at the age of 42. my admiration for the likes of Ben Foster went through the roof. reckon it’s a life of perving for me from now on (n reality my career hopes ended at 9 years old when I broke my wrist and missed a NUFC talent session. That and not being very good obviously

I wish I’d been a footballer

So close to a legendary midfield combo of Bruno and Tonolni. shades of Curry and Rice for Forest or of course the holy grail of Fish Costa Fortune

have you heard Kane talk? You’d be asleep before he can say ‘you should join me at Spurs’ -
Probably linked to this, I see Laura Woods is leaving TalkSport over the summer. Likely to be the new face of TNT sport?

It hasn't, but the number of teams realistically looking at top 4 has grown. We're either going to see seasons where the points difference between 4th (and maybe even 1st) through to 7th is really small as all of the newly termed massive seven have the seasons they are expected to have or where the aforementioned seven beat everyone from 8th down but there is a split in results amongst them, giving a highish bar for anyone to get into the top 7 but there being a clear gap between 5th and 4th. The final option is of course that every season has a Chelsea/Spurs so the dogfight remains amongst 5 of the 7 plus a surprise package -
I hope that includes returns as well with the amount of stuff our guy has to pick up that the wife is sending back to Next! (he’s a good egg as well)

3 titles in a row is pretty impressive though.

stick a fiver on it and then when he moves report him for influencing betting behaviour. (Pickford not the brother)

Very likely Everton get a points deduction for their FFP breach next season mind
