  1. He must be the only man less competent than Pardew
  2. At least 5 times a game he shows for the ball and gets ignored, it happened more and more as the season wore on.
  3. Has he ever played that role? Genuinely didn't know that, considering they bought him at a really young age.
  4. to be fair, if we could get a good price for Perch I wouldn't be against letting him go. Like Willo, he shouldn't be that hard to replace. What difference would that make? Exactly. I can't see us getting anybody as bother free as Perch. He's not the best footballer in the world but he's one of the few who gives a fuck and plays in a few positions (even if he is an atrocious right back). Case in point was Norwich away, we gave the ball away and they had about 4 on 2 and Perch sprinted back 60 yards to get a block in, whilst the rest of our fuckers jogged back. It's all well and good saying we won't progress with players like Perch in the squad but if he left there probably wouldn't be a replacement, and certainly not a good one. No point selling for sellings sake.
  5. There were games like Reading at home where he was unbelievably good, but then there's been so many more where he hasn't done anything. For £25m, I'm not surprised we're selling. It also helps solve the conundrum of playing a load of midfielders who sit in front of the back 4, but we'll see. On the flip side, Cabaye was by all accounts set to be the new captain if Colo left, and was supposedly a big dressing room figure. Think the Liverpool game was the straw that broke the camel's back to be honest. Wonder how Debuchy feels about this...wonder how many more will follow.
  6. Don't see them rejecting that ass
  7. 4-0 down at home to Armenia...fucking hell.
  8. Hmm pardon my ignorance but who is Smith? Surprised Clyne's not playing.
  9. Concede 4 goals and blame the defence? What is this shit?
  10. Annoys me even more the player was on the floor asking for the phsyio then miraculously he was able to stand and get in somebody's face. It's basically cheating.
  11. If you aren't paying for players I imagine that will help the old balance sheet
  12. This makes more sense than winning it and having to go through the whole arduous process again.

What European game did we play before the 0-6?

Johnson has looked much better for Di Canio's methods unfortunately, we'll see how long that lasts though. Be interesting to see what happens if they end up with a well disciplined organised squad, but that's going to take a massive overhaul, and a lot of their players have no sale value
  15. HBA was great first half but tired after about an hour.
  16. Boring team - not sure what I was expecting but thought there'd be some surprise inclusions

Like how a thread from 3 year ago was dug up for this. Seems appropriate.
  19. I really think Stoke have backed themselves into a corner. If they get rid of Pulis and bring in a manager for a change of direction they'll have to overhaul most of the squad, and nobody will want most of their thugs. There's only Begovic, Shawcross and maybe a couple of others who have any sort of value, the rest are old, shit, or both. They have little choice but to stick with Pulis and play to their strengths, bringing in another manager to do the same thing would be a pointless exercise. Next season in general presents a really good chance to improve because of all the change as mentioned by a few posters above. Add to that I think WBA will struggle - they'll lose Lukaku and they have a novice manager, and you quite often find sides who finish the season shoddily, like they have, struggle to pick it up the following year. Stoke have finally been found out and look dross, it will take some big money to make them any good. Fulham have a team of pensioners, which will be ok short term but what is the plan there? They can't keep playing 30+ year old's and not try and blood some younger players, surely. Add to that Cardiff, Hull and whoever comes up, either way I can't see any of the 3 promoted sides being any higher than about 14th, unless they spend daft money on good players, I think Cardiff have the best chance of that. I heard today Watford are transfer embargoed until September 1st? That'll be fun for them then. On the flip side if Swansea get Lukaku that'll help them a great deal, their squad isn't big enough at present to handle the Europa League and compete well in the Prem but I assume they'll spend and with 3 or 4 extra bodies they'll be looking at top 8 I think. West Ham could also do well and capitalise on the sheer amount of shit by bulldozing them over at home, especially if Carroll stays. Their form in the 2nd half of the season suggests they have the tools to be a top half side. Then there's the wildcards. Norwich have put a marker down by buying van Wolfswinkel, if they buy a couple of more of that ilk they won't go down, assuming RVW isn't a total fish out of water. I have no idea what will happen at Everton but unless they appoint Pardew they'll be in the top half. The mackems will be totally random with Di Canio in charge, absolutely no result will be a certainty, but I think that'll average out to leave them in the middle somewhere. I really fancy Liverpool to push for the top 4, even without Suarez, Coutinho has made a massive difference for them. Villa will still be relatively inexperienced but Benteke alone will keep them well above trouble. Southampton are a strange team too, they look excellent at times but they always seem to look great in defeat, I don't see enough of them to really judge but they impressed me a lot at SJP, except for their centre halves obviously. If they lose their manager a few might start to think "what the fuck is going on here" but they'll be fine. Should be a really interesting season, I just hope we're in a situation to enjoy it and not suffering through it.
