  1. In summary, for 7th to be Europa it would require: Arsenal to finish 5th Arsenal win the FA Cup If Spurs win the Europa League and finish 5th or 6th I don't think it would make a difference, there was no extra place for Everton this year based on Chelsea winning it.
  2. Am i reading it right, does that not say the losers of the FA Cup get the Europa league spot at the expense of the Lowest Premier League placed team if the winners of the FA Cup have already qualified ? Making me right ? confused now like Without sounding like an arsehole, what I said is right and the stuff Hans posted backs it up. "In the event the FA Cup winners are qualified for the UEFA Champions League the FA Cup runners-up will qualify" - This is the important bit "but in the place reserved for the lowest ranking Barclays Premier League representative." - This is just rubbish about what stage of the Europa you enter at. "The place with direct access to the Group Stage will be given to the club that finishes in the highest position in the Barclays Premier League of the clubs qualifying for the UEFA Europa League." - As is this. You're not being an arsehole mate, only a debate about it , that sentence i highlighted does that not say different though. 'but in the place reserved for lowest representive Europa team' , in this case it would 7th in the Premiership) in regard to the loser of the FA Cup. or am i reading it wrong ? When it says "in the place reserved for the lowest ranking etc" in means out of the three qualifiers, they would have to go through the most qualifying rounds. The cup winners normally get in direct (like Wigan this year) but in this scenario they would get the lowest ranking spot.

  4. I still find it amazing footy fans dont know how the FA Cup Europa quali works after all these years You're telling me..
  5. Nope, it's just the winners are normally in the top 4 so it goes to the runner up. A few years ago, Man City played Stoke in the final. Stoke needed City to get 4th ahead of Spurs so they could get the Europa spot. Unless it's changed since then, it'll still be the rule now. It just never happens.

There's a new cycle for mackem fans. It goes: WEMBO SECOND CHANCE AT WEMBO PRIDE AT FANS Team put in disgraceful performance Abuse mags for revelling in their failure Pile huge pressure on next league game
  7. What's that got to do with it. If Wigan knock Arsenal out then Wigan and the other finalist are definitely in the Europa. The runner up only goes into Europe if the winner is already in Europe...? Unless Arsenal lose mentally then it's the losers in. I know it's a bit jumping the gun but can you see them not making it. So you could say, it's probable that Sheffield United, Wigan or Hull are going to be in Europe? One of them will be for definite. Might have already been covered but Arsenal would have to finish in the top 4 (yes, very probable) for the runners up to get in (assuming Arsenal win it) Top 6 to be exact. If they finish 5th, they would qualify for the Europa League through the cup, and the next league place would get it, not the runners up.

  9. He's most likely finished as a footballer. Preparing for the future can only be a good thing. Back in August We'll see. Spending two years on the sidelines at this stage of his career will surely ruin him? At least at the top level. Don't know if he will be any good but that's when he's hoping to be back

So not Arsenal then. Can't trust them to do any thing. Let's just go with the whole Hull thing. They'll get Sheff Utd or Charlton anyway in the semis
  12. He hasn't played enough for me to form a proper opinion on him. He had a shitter down at Norwich but other than that it's been a handful of sub appearances and the odd cup start after a spell on the sidelines. He's a midfielder who likes to get up to support the strikers, but I've no idea how he'd fit in

I was thinking about this yesterday, where the fuck are they all? Somebody pointed out that they can travel down from Manchester this morning but why the fuck would you?
  14. Lescott is fucking shit He might be but they were so much more solid when it was him and Kompany.
  15. He has been poor the last few weeks but he played very well yesterday. Doesn't mean he wasn't bad the last few weeks though.
  16. He's the manager. The very hierarchy that exist in work mean that a manager has more power and would therefore get a more severe punishment for an indescretion
  17. The treat that is Villa vs Norwich
  18. Why the fuck are we wearing yellow against a team who wear orange?

Being from Chester-le-street I went to school with a mix of Newcastle and mackem fans. Some of my best mates are mackems but it's always been reasonable debate with minimal dickishness. That is until the semi final. I know success changes people but I didn't expect one league cup final to turn level headed people into arseholes. Their twitter feeds are full of "the wear runs through CLS so why do you support Newcastle ?" and my favourite "should be another 3 points for County Durham this weekend" which just makes no sense. Also regular references to "mags get back under their rocks" and its like a who can be a bigger cunt competition. For that reason alone, I hope they get dicked and get relegated never to return.
  21. I didn't think it was that bad a game, really. Lacked a fair bit of quality but I wouldn't have said it was dull
  22. Weird game. We started well for a change but that soon drifted away as Villa made use of the extra man in the middle, which caused Pardew to change to Cisse on the right fun times. A lot of the forward thinking players played ok in fits and starts but nobody was on it all game. There was a 20 minute spell where it seemed inevitable Villa would score but the final ball was just lacking or Krul made a decent save, then they just declared second half for some reason and seemed happy to get 0 but without ever seriously trying to see it out. But enough about them, we have enough of our own issues without worrying about them. Krul - Some decent saves first half, not totally horrific distribution for once. Debuchy - Terrible crosses but got forward well, always an outlet. Dummett - Had a nightmare 20 minutes where he turned into Shola but I thought he did ok in the end, would like to see him and Haidara plenty towards the end of the season, I'm not sure what's going on with Santon but having a left footed full back was nice. His set pieces weren't gash either, surprisingly. Willo - Really good, made one great interception during the second half. Him and Colo are our best partnership, undoubtedly. Colo - MOTM. Imperious, reads the play so well. Welcome back, please never leave Tiote - Not his best game but we have nobody else who can play his role effectively, as evidenced by his absence. So for that reason I'm glad he was back. Anita - In and out all day but the last 10 minutes he was a driving force, I've never seen him play that sort of role. A big reason we won today Gouffran - Not his best day it's fair to say but some good graft at times Sissoko - What to do with this guy. Plays without a brain but his ball carrying ability is useful. Just makes some really odd decisions, but I don't think anybody is sure where to play him. Remy - So much better than all of our other strikers, but in the 1 striker system I prefer him on the left depending on who's in the middle. Cisse - Horrific miss. His control is superb at times but he's shot. Got through some work on the right wing but why not just play a winger there? Thought it was odd that he pushed Cisse out to the right and left Remy through the middle, but then once De Jong came on he moved Remy wide. But that's just Pardew, we must change formation about 4 times a game, one sub causes the whole team to be re-positioned. Atmosphere in the last 15 minutes was fantastic, relieved to get the points. It could be a fun end to the season if we try some different things out and play with no fear but the manager will be shutting up shop for that precious 8th place. Went to the game probably the lowest I've been about NUFC, thinking what was the point etc. but came away determined to just enjoy the rest of the season, forget everything going on behind the scenes and just wait and see. It's nice being fairly relaxed at a game so I'm going to enjoy it whilst it lasts as unless the right decisions are made in the summer we might be in a spot of bother next season.
  23. He's on loan at Toronto as of about a week ago I think
