Whilst all that is true, the pandemic has, in an odd way, worked out well for Ashley from an NUFC point of view. Fans have had 18 months of not being able to go and going is normality for them. It’s the day out, it’s seeing family and friends in the pub and everyone is sick of sitting inside alone. So I think there’s a feeling of seeing what it would be like without their ticket and putting all feelings aside. I haven’t been since Rafa left and I won’t be rushing back any time soon but if I wake up one day and fancy watching ASM before he leaves then I probably will.

I had been a believer but the day Caulkin said Justin Barnes was the consortium’s source the penny dropped for me. Ashley has £17m from them, will go to court for as long as it takes (the longer it goes on the less pressure he gets from the fans, he’s trying you know…) to probably get more compensation somewhere down the road. If the Saudi’s are still interested after all that he gets £350m too, or the circus rolls on for more years.

I don't think Burnley, Wolves, Southampton or Brighton are any better off. Palace could go either way. The top clubs have gone mad, a lot of the rest have been a bit tit for tat. Likewise the three promoted clubs, I've seen very little suggest any of them will be better than relegation candidates. If our star players stay fit for the majority of the season we won't be in any trouble whatsoever. Unfortunately even a couple of injuries exposes our shit squad depth.

He needs replacing so we can move forwards but the system he finished the season in made him look decent. All he has to do is pick the ball up off the centre halves and spread the play to one of our runners.
