Awful last night again. Needs to be put in the under 21 team for a few weeks. Hopefully he regain his form and become a key player in the last ten games or so.

Palace didn't want him out that badly or they wouldn't have been dicks about the loan fee. They could easily have offset that against the £13m in the summer and if we didn't get promoted so didn't take the option to buy, surely he would command a better fee after playing rather than warming their bench. Didn't see Townsend come out begging to return either....probably hoping another prem club would swoop in. No other premier club really came in for him. As far as we know ,so does that mean he is over priced or Palace had no desire to sell him for the 13 million. Think they be more to it than just Ashley not wanting to spend money

i think the most likely scenario is that rafa and the club have agreed to try and get promoted within a certain budget thus ensuring that we don't end up in the PL in august with a squad full of players we can't shift...this would be my reading of it personally; we want a couple of players in but want them to be of sufficient quality or loans for obvious reasons if rafa thinks he can get there with what we've got and isn't agitating against the owner/charnley then i'm content to let him get on with it and keep my mouth shut i know ashley has previous but it does seem highly unlikely to me he agreed a contract and strategy with rafa in may/june or whatever...everything is going exactly to plan and then he just decides to tear it up and hamstring our chances of promotion for no apparent reason Agree with this.

Why ? We not desperate for players so no need to pay over the odds . We are still on course for promotion.

No. i'd like to see 3 major signings (among many others) in the summer if promoted giving us a significant upgrade in quality at CB, CM and ST lascelles and clark to fight for a spot with the new guy You can add goalkeeper to that list also.

Send him to Barnsley and bring Armstrong back.... Only joking , but think he needs a run of games somewhere. If we sign another forward it may be worth loaning him out for a month or so.
