Nonsense. He's a hypocritical SOB who gets his way because he wins, and winners set the rules at the table. How many times has he had a whinge/moan about whatever's annoying him that particular day then go on to criticise an opposing manager for moaning about the same topic at a later date? How many times has he complained about the pitch? Then goes on to moan and Wenger? How many times has he moaned about the refs? He's a great manager. He's arguably the greatest manager of all time, but as a person he's just the same as any other person. He's not incredibly loyal or virtuous, he's not good in defeat, he's not a straight-talker who tells it like it is. He's very smart, and knows how to get things done, which is why he's a brilliant manager, but he's no more than that.

Devious cunt who's only liked because he's a winner.

Poor Arsenal

His strength and pace is perfect for the Premiership.

Ash doesn't want to swap Benzema for Clichy? What world are we living in that Clichy's more valued than Benzema? Wenger would do that deal in instant. How can you turn down a young, quick, very talented striker who possesses all the physical attributes of a world class player for a left-back who hasn't progressed in two years? Benzema is a true striker. He is the kind of player that Arsenal haven't had for years, and he'd flourish in their system because his movement is good, and finishing very good as well. He's a bit lazy but that's just a French thing; Arsene will sort it out.

The owners are smart. They'll take time to understand football, to know who to trust, but they won't hire Allardyce. Maybe they're wrong to trust Comolli now, but they'll eventually get it right. If Roy gets sacked, Comolli will have a massive say in who gets hired.

Freddie borrowed at 12% interest? That's what we call a 'five years from folding' rate around here. It seems that Shepherd really left us fucked when he left as he had used every single one of the club's assets to finance the spending under Souness. What a total idiot. If he had stayed, there's no doubt in my mind that we would have gone into administration because he was not going to put a dime of his own money into the club. The fact that we still lost twenty something million in Ashley's first year pretty much says it all, as there's no way Shepherd would have been able to roll over the money in that year because we had run out of assets to secure financing.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
Taylor Swift replied to Pilko's topic in Football
His feet still aren't quick enough for his ground game to be top class, but it's been getting better. If he can improve his technique, ball control and passing, he'd be world class. -
Very effective yesterday More of that please.

Ha, fkn hell. Fucking hell man, they cannot be real ffs His English is fucking pathetic. Worse than neesy's, man

I bet Stu called all the anti-war campaigners 'unpatriotic' for not supporting the troops. Stop conflating the issue of supporting the club and supporting the regime. You can support the club and be against the regime, even if the latter position means that you don't show up on Saturdays.
-
I still want us to win every match, but it's a kind of begrudging support because Ashley's the only one who's going to benefit from us winning. You know he won't spend the money necessary to keep us improving, you know he won't spend the money that's needed for us to get back in the top 10, let alone challenge for a European place. I want us to beat Liverpool on Saturday, I want us to survive this season, but I think we all know that in the long-term, we're not heading in the right direction (on purpose, too), and that's extremely worrying.

It's all relative, man. Have you ever complained about your life in any way shape or form? If so, aren't you being hypocritical since there's millions of starving children in Africa? This is the same thing, innit. Happiness and sadness are relative. If you've been used to a level of comfort for such a long time, when you experience the slight bit of discomfort (or a decrease in the level of comfort), you will complain, whinge, moan. It's natural, because these feelings are by default subjective. It's the same thing with supporting a club. I was disappointed that we finished 5th under SBR. I wanted him to stay, I supported him, the club, the players, but I was actually disappointed that we finished 5th, but that was because we had finished 4th and 3rd in the two prior seasons. If that makes me a gloryhunter or whatever then so be it. I want the club to consistently improve. Who likes mediocrity? Now you come to this season, and I'd be fucking delighted if we survive. Does this mean that I'll be consistently happy if we survive? Nah, man. The goal is progress, improvement, striving to be better. I hope one day we're back in the CL, I hope we win the league title. Hell, I think that should be the end goal for any club - to rise to the top. But it's the relative fall that is making this moment such a heartbreaking one. The fall from 3rd to 5th wasn't a big one because we had money, we had the players, we had a once-in-a-generation manager (SBR), then we threw it all away, but we still had the money, we still had the stadium, we still had the players. Even when Souness was here, we still had money. We didn't expect relegation. We reasonable expected top 10, and hopefully within a couple of years, push on further even more. But the fall this time is big. The fall is from having a promising, young manager taking charge of a young, hungry team who have just blitzed through the Championship and are doing so, so well for a newly-promoted team to an apathetic squad who will now no doubt struggle to survive, and managing them is a cliched 'give them a hard time, boys!' manager. We had a squad that played for Hughton, we have genuinely good and exciting players (Carroll, Ben Arfa, Tiote, Enrique, Colo etc.), so now the expected fall from this is huge. That's why this can be the final straw for many people. Where do we go from here? If Pardew comes in and alienates the foreign contingent, then I think that's pretty much Jonas, Colo and Enrique off in the summer. And If Pardew has come in with the mandate to priorities the finances, I think Carroll's probably off in the very near future as well. Where does that leave us? With a fucking cheap and dumb owner, bare squad, shit manager. You see what I'm getting at? I'm completely apathetic, at this moment. I'll read the news, follow the team, still get excited about the matches, but there's always this nagging feeling that we're not going anywhere; that there's no light at the end of the tunnel, that's there's just mediocrity, survival in the Premiership and making sure we're profitable for Ashley until he's had enough. Then, and only then, will there be some genuine hope of us becoming good again. Maybe it's because I (or we, if I'm correctly assessing the sentiments on here) feel we're entitled to having a good team, but so fucking what? Good is relative, anyway. We just want a team that has a future. I suppose we just want to be able to visualise us winning/competing. We really did have something good going on here, even with Ashley in charge. And now we're back to I don't know what. Worse than Kinnear since he was only a temporary manager. Worse than Big Sam because at least he had a good track record. Worse than Souness because we don't have the money and squad to fall back on. This is probably the worst state the club's been in since the early 90s. It's actually not worse than the start of last season because we were playing in a shite league and were favourites for it. Now we have a squad that's probably as apathetic as the fans are, a manager who's admitted that he doesn't know the squad, and an owner who has been plotting for quite a while to replace the successful manager that we had a charge. So yeah, this is a real low point, imo.

Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition
Taylor Swift replied to OzzieMandias's topic in Football
Apparently your bid team told our guy that you only needed his vote from the 2nd round onwards, that you were confident of getting 8-9 votes in the first round to go through, so now our press are saying that this is of your own making. -
Curbishley's an idiot, as well. If you've heard him talk, you know that he's a Kinnear type with the cliched bs about experience, hard work etc. He'd be a disaster here.
-
Pardew would be such a fucking nightmare because everyone knows that he's a Souness/Curbishley/Kinnear/Wilkinson type. He'll get us relegated this year or next and be sacked.
-
I thought he showed that he was growing into the job, that he was willing to change and adapt the team, that he had an open mind regarding the players, the tactics, our style of play. He showed me what the very best managers have, and it's something that none of our managers since SBR had. All the great managers start from somewhere. Hughton showed intelligence, and that's such a rare quality for a football manager. I think he'll go on to better things from here because he has the skills necessary. I think he could have turned us into a top side, given the requisite financial backing. I don't think he's a mediocre manager who was only ever going to get us to mid-table security, but he showed a willingness to change, and that was/is what we require if we're going to become a better team.

Someone should get that dossier sent to Rijkaard. I'm sure he loves golf.

Bullshit. This is what all sports are like. Angry. Confused. Angry. Can't believe we posted back to back and neither of us went for the obvious joke. How devastated are we?! Holy shit. You got lucky, Apisith! Ya cunts I'm confused as hell as well, but I have to say that apathy is the dominant emotion. I just don't know how much more you're supposed to take, how much more you have to wait before the payoff. I don't see it paying off in the medium-term, let alone the short. Supporting this club is just some sado-masochistic shit, man. At least let us have one good season so I could have a good summer, enjoy the transfer rumours, dream of us being back in Europe again. This past summer doesn't count because fear of relegation was what I felt. The payoff was going to be surviving this season and showing some potential. We can't even have that, man.

You should be on some sort of medication. In charge of England this week, last week was title/CL, the week before was relegation

I'm completely apathetic now.
