  1. I think the current panic is due it becoming clear that we're not going to be bringing anybody in during this window, and in half a season of relatively easy fixtures with our current squad we're still not beyond the threat of relegation. That said, with the quality of teams below, i can't see us going down. Any need to change the title of his thread because you disagree with it, by the way?
  2. You do realise for us to be relegated Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Wigan, Birmingham, Bolton and Reading all have to accumulate more points than us from now until the end of the season, don't you? Do you watch these teams?
  3. He's no Ameobi, though.
  4. Encouraging performance. Caçapa has looked classy, Duff dangerous, Carr competent, and Alan Smith has actually had a shot on goal. We deserved to convert one of those chances. Now let's see wether Keegan can get them to reproduce it in the second half.
  5. Very good start, there's a noticeable increase in our confidence with the ball.
  6. Post on GG: It really does read like someone on here writing a parody.
  7. Aye, Milner has been terrible. You've watched ONE game, haven't you. Jesus. Which of Milner's recent performances have impressed you? What do you think he brings to the team? What does he bring to the team? He's the best right winger we have, he takes full backs on, and he creates space for others to support him. His crossing has been gash for the past few games, but he's not a bad player. I'd rather have him on the right that anyone else at this point. If we were jettisoning players after 2 or 3 indifferent games, we'd have an entirely empty first team. I don't think he's bad player either but it's gone beyond 2 or 3 indifferent games now. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he just needs to be rested for a couple of weeks after the amount of games he's played over the last 18 months, but fatigue aside he doesn't really offer enough to be a regular in a team hoping to compete with the top 6. He certainly doesn't offer pace, which is what we're going to need tomorrow and why i would have opted for Kazenga.

Chelsea versus Tottenham is going to be fun for the police.

    Riise

Riise won't come here to sit on the bench and i think i'd cry if we dropped Enrique to accomodate him. A hopeless defender who used to live off the odd wonder goal, now he doesn't even score those.
  11. I'd play Lua Lua and drop Milner, who has been dreadful of late. We're going to need pace on the break against Arsenal and Kazenga, although only having made two short cameo appearances, has looked as though he might be able to provide that, we already know Milner cannot.
  12. Tremendous goal from Tunisia. 2-2.
  13. Abdoulaye Faye. Monstrous in appearance and a bit mental - remember when he started twatting the dugout sits earlier in the season? Although you'd have to back Barton in an actual street fight with any of the names mentioned.

I mentioned Reo-Coker's performance earlier in this thread, he has an unbelievable engine. It's a shame Agbonlahor didn't play him in when you were 2-1 up, he deserved to score the winner.
  15. A dominating defensive midfielder with all of Faye's attributes is harder to find than a centre-back with them. I would therefore keep him in central midfield and look to bring in someone of van Buyten or Campbell's ilk to partner Caçapa at the back for the rest of the season. Taylor has done well in recent weeks, and if we couldn't get a centre-back in i would still play Faye in midfield and keep him in defence, but in the long term i don't think he's good enough to be a permanent fixture in the first team.

    Reo-Coker has been very impressive.

There's the best goal Marlon Harewood will ever score.
  18. Martins booked for diving.
  19. Yakubu, Kanu and Martins up front, should be interesting...
  20. Milner is not good enough to be a regular in the first team on either flank. If he's not happy to be back up then sell him.
  21. I think Man Utd would accept a bid that would see them break even on Carrick, though. He would be an excellent signing for us, just what we need.
  22. Owen is the better footballer, and would score far more goals in a top team. For us, however, i'm beginning to think Martins is more effective. Despite him being poor positionally, panicked in possession and lacking in composure in front of goal, he gives us something. His chasing down of defenders, strength on the ball and most importantly his pace - which does scare defences, even if he doesn't know how to use it - completely change the balance of our side. This was painfully evident when he was replaced by Owen against Chelsea and again against Man City, and the reason we have looked bereft of any cutting edge whatsoever in the last two league games. When Martins returns i would partner him with Owen for a run of games, something we're still yet to see, and use Viduka as an impact sub.
