Signed for £21mill. Guess you'd expect a relegation release clause to be not much more than that? Leicester still in bother financially so you'd think they'd be willing sellers.

It's been made a lot bigger since the changes but I don't want to undermine your team's glorious victory (again).

I guess what's certain is that the two Europas are a lot closer together than the CL and Europa.

Aye, fair enough.

It's a farcical outcome, even if it's legally the correct one. I found that article as clear as mud tbh; I still don't feel clear on what's gone wrong but seemingly they're bang to rights. It's a dreadful thing that a club should be denied its just rewards based on these types of issues, but the game's vulnerability to clumsy/malevolent ownership is utterly ingrained at this point. At least from a football perspective, the standard of the Europa League isn't massively distinguishable from the Conference League. Betis, Fiorentina, Bilbao, Bodo/Glimt: all semi-finalists in last year's respective competitions, but probably not wildly apart in terms of quality, especially when stacked against the resources of the Premier League teams. (Bilbao and Betis played out two draws in La Liga last season, for instance).

You're welcome. There's even a two-parter on Liverpool's famous 4-3 win over Newcastle in the 90s!

Not sure how it evaded me for so long, but just started listening to It Was What It Was, where Jonathan Wilson basically just talks for an hour about some football fascination from yesteryear. Really dunno how I missed it because I listened to a bunch of his similar ones under the umbrella of The Blizzard, which just suddenly seemed to stop (presumably replaced by this). Absolutely A1 football podcasting; the last two on Revie's Leeds were terrific. Wilson's maybe the best in the business tbh; shame he's a Mackem.

If Isak stays and reintegrates then we've retained all of our best players and made significant upgrades on those who've left, CM pending. It's a job very well done in that scenario. Not transformational (whatever that looks like) but frankly that's just impossible to us. The Isak thing has dictated the vibes of the last three weeks, and I still don't think anyone is really losing their marbles over the rejections, if it weren't for the added pressure of that situation.

Netbreaker for the winning pen. Good for them, amazing little run at Wembley for that lot.

how the fuck do you kick the ball that hard when you step up to it like that? I don't understand the physics of elite football.
-
Hell of a save.

Would put every penny I have on us never hearing another thing about it from anyone who ain't some Twitter random. It was just some shite from that sell-out Ornstein.
-
If it wasn't for my deep-rooted aversion to everything that wasn't NUFC, I'd quite like Palace. Looks like they've really revelled in these three Wembley visits.
-
Unrelated to the discussion but I remembered Barnes' second against ManU the other day. What a mint goal that was, just powered through and slammed it in. Proper "fuck off" of a goal.

Great news. Please Like the OP, makes it simple by having a definitive list when it comes to sorting teams/format.

Porto are always willing sellers afaik, but they'll probably want to wait until everyone is convinced that the guy's mustard, and get a higher fee. It's plausible that they've put a daft price tag on him now as a bit of a guarantee.

I think we're gonna see a lot more of that this season, particularly in the Champions League. Hope so anyway, when it's worked it's really worked imo. Everton on the last day was the outlier. Chelsea pre-red card I thought it was particularly good.

Basically said as much in response to Caulkin's question about how it feels like the whole club is on a knife edge atm.

Fair. I don't know why I keep going back in. I've never said those empty roles hasn't had an impact. My argument has always been: sure, we have issues internally, but PSR is the main problem and accusations of clownshow etc have always been totally unfair for that reason. Howe wants those executive positions filled too but he's saying that us being unable to conclude transfers comes down to finances (i.e. PSR).
