That's what nicks it for me. With Nobby in a position like that, you're pretty much guaranateed an absolutely class ball atleast once in a match. Whether the striker on the end of it pulls it off, that's something different, but a quality attribute such as that is something that the likes of Nobby will never lose, regardless of 'legs'. Also, Solano is far more organised a player than Dyer, which is crucial. For me, Dyer is definitely one that i'd like to see stay and be tutored into something by Allardyce (has Dyer ever had a specific position for Newcastle?), but not a defender.

Would have to say that Nobby's second goal against Everton two seasons back beats that one for slick football. Fucking class goal, regardless of the stupendous finish. Not saying that's my favourite 30 seconds, i honestly can't think of one in-particular, but that's one of my favourite ever goals.

On non-uniform days, you see as many Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal tops as you do Newcastle and Scumderland. Which is scandalous really. 2 big NE teams to follow every week and yet they choose one of the top 4. I can understand it in a way because kids want to support the best teams but fucking hell..... x100 Chances are, if they're young kids, they'll start to see sense about 11 or 12. Surely every, or a lot, of little kids go through a phase of supporting the best teams - especially now with the enhanced media-hypage and vast array of merchandising and advertising on offer nowadays? Still, i'd say that the parents that allow it should be enforced to do atleast a week's worth of community service and, failing any improvement, inprisonment.

On footballing ability alone, if you asked one randomly selected fan of each of the other 19 clubs in the premiership which player they'd take given the choice, Parker or Barton, I'd be surprised if 5 went for Parker. I wouldn't be, infact i reckon the majority would go for Parker. Because not every manager in the Premiership is as good a man-manager as Allardyce. People would take Parker due to the comparison of reputations.

And them players you mentioned first, turned them into a damned good team. Just like with Robson. For every Bellamy, Robert and Woodgate, there was a Bassedas, Cort and Viana. And we finished 4th, 3rd and 5th. I'd be content with a ratio such as that!
