  1. Ah aye. Easy to snip out I guess.
  2. It's a brilliant ad. Love Murphy's wave and Nobby emerging from the bogs playing the trumpet. Telling that Bruno wasn't involved in this or the home one like.

    Wouldn't accept Raylor, 3/10.
  4. He's been so much more than just that purple patch, too. Was absolutely magnificent in Paris, for instance.
  5. Fantastic advert and a great shirt in isolation, just massively inferior to what it's replicating.
  6. We had to get Vlachodimos as part of some PSR chicanery.
  7. Okay, I'm not arsed enough to argue about this, happy to be wrong. The guy seems like a knob; I got Gerrard (the manager) vibes all last season. Assume he must have something seeing as Bayern appointed him.
  8. *to that sort of childish garbage delivered by anyone other than the greatest managers who've ever lived.

£55-60mill is an exceptional offer, like. Palace area having a laugh if they sniff at that.
  10. If by gap you're referring to RW then there's only a gap if our attack is fundamentally dysfunctional. I don't see any evidence of that based on last season; we scored a million goals. We all might engage in the "how did we do" debate but in reality you can't actually judge how effective the window has been until the results are seen on the pitch. It's the only real measurement tool.
  11. Hard agree, and if we get Guehi but no RW, that's clearly the club's approach too. If we'd got Tosin for nowt we'd probably be chasing a Raphinha type at this point.
  12. Do you honestly think you can make a fair judgement on a transfer window before its results have been tested over the course of the season? Obviously there will be exceptions, like during the Ashley era where we were objectively harming the squad... but in cases where we're clearly investing and managing the growth of the squad in a measurable way - how can you make a judgement until it's played out?
  13. shocked to see he's a total gobshite. Surely there's no player anywhere, ever, who responds well to that sort of childish garbage?
  14. Why would you apply a rating to a transfer window anything less than half a season-to-a season after the fact, let alone before it's even finished?
  15. It's not a downgrade though, he's never been a Newcastle player. Excluding matters like the squad regaining fitness, it's as-you-were when it comes to RW.
  16. At CM we've got Bruno, Joelinton, Tonali, Willock, Longstaff, and Miley (perhaps x2?). I like Anderson but we're not losing a great deal in him going. Whereas with Osula it's a 100% upgrade because we didn't have a third choice striker last season.
  17. It's pointless making any judgement at all unless it's critical to have all your recruitment done before the first game of the season. Even in that case there's a full working week before that actually comes around. Just whinging for the sake of whinging imo.
  18. Very glass half empty seeing as it was entirely plausible that we'd lose one of our big hitters. And on top of that we've improved the squad in both defence and at CF.

That's all you need re Guehi.
  20. My recollection is that he was incredible against Villa then shite but for the odd semi-useful half here and there. Hopefully the betting shit goes some way to explaining why he was so unimpressive and he'll hit the ground running and make up for lost time. Definitely one of the most exciting aspects of the new season. Got everything to prove.
  21. Looks utterly stupid. I give up with kits.

I don't think his legs will fall off but it's not implausible that he doesn't maintain his levels for too much longer. The wider point is that if three of your options in one position are over 30, you've got a sustainability issue and investing heavily at this point is totally sensible.

It's absolutely right that the volume of goals we shipped last season wasn't especially accountable to the personnel in the backline, but that doesn't mean investment in that area isn't crucial if we're to progress. Kelly is a good start but Schar and Burn both turn 33 this season and who knows what Botman's injury has done to his progress. Then it's Lascelles, another on the wrong side of 30.

The lack of stand out quality at RW is compensated by the effectiveness of the team as an attacking unit. I'd be far more worried I'd we didn't recruit at CB than if we didn't recruit at RW. In fact I'm more concerned about the backup goalie situation than anything at all; being forced into signing Vlachodimos as opposed to who we actually wanted is frustrating.
  25. Keen to know where Harrison is playing, for anyone watching...?
