Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26

Wearing all white. -
Man Utd playing some great stuff.
-
Great to hear that commentator. Good memories of Channel 5 Waffa Cup games.
-
Pretty sure we went after Dele Alli before he ended up at Everton, so we did well to dodge that one. Same probably goes for Lingard tbh.
-
If the player doesn't intend on signing a new contract then I'd argue that they do and ideally (from their point of view) this window.
-
'Just under' £50million according to the article. I think he'll leave Crystal Palace; they'll be motivated to sell on account of now being the last chance to get maximum value, and the player's head will have been turned. Whether its to us, I dunno. I wouldn't say it has a 'gazumping' written all over it, but the longer we go without getting a deal done, the chances increase. I'm surprised Liverpool aren't in for him seeing as he's apparently available at what you'd consider to be a competitive price.
-
West Ham have upgraded what's in the dugout as well as what's on the pitch. They'll be good this season.
-
And the material sticking to their frontage as well. It's so shite, man.
-
Interesting that he's been identified by Howe and Tindall as opposed to Mitchell.
-
Would absolutely hate to see Trippier turning out for another PL club now.
-
Isn't engagement all that matters?

Matt Ritchie (now Technical Director at Bournemouth)

Love to see that, hope he plays loads of games. He's easily capable of doing a canny job for a team with aspirations of Championship survival. Keep us posted, @AdoptedGeordieFromPompey. -
Personally I feel that if you've got the exact people you want down the spine of the team - GK-CB-CM-CF - you can mix and match around that and still retain the main facets of your team identity. We've seen Gordon, Barnes, Almiron, Murphy, Joelinton, Isak, Anderson, Saint-Maximin and Livramento occupy wing positions over the last two seasons and not deviated from our general approach. Obviously the effectiveness has varied.

It's only a gamble at the absolute baseline level, in the same way that literally any signing (which costs a fair whack) is a 'gamble' - because your investment choices are so crucial in this day and age. And any signing at all has the capacity to go wrong. But beyond that it's as low risk as you can get. You're getting proven quality that is as likely to improve and increase in value as any. The CB position is approaching a tipping point with Schar, Lascelles and Burn all approaching their twilight years, so I can understand the decision to invest heavily in that area. It's also a really, really important position in terms of delivering your long-term vision (more important than RW), so, if the opportunity is there, I can understand trying to grasp it from that point of view as well. If you're worried about the expense then I'd say think of it as investing in the position rather than an individual- because Kelly goes some way to offsetting. I get the temptation to go big on a RW but it definitely isn't as sensitive an issue imo.
-
I'm fairly ambivalent towards most. Detest Liverpool and Chelsea for very different reasons. I should hate Man Utd but I find that hard to do when I've so little respect for them as an outfit. Similar sort of thing with Arsenal and Arteta; I think he's a divvy compared to say Klopp, who was fucking hideous. Developed a particular dislike to Everton after a few visits to Grand Old Team. The rest, couldn't give a shite really.
-
Lightening the load on Isak, improving the left side of the defence, and recruiting arguably the most promising English defensive talent - whilst keeping Bruno, Isak and Gordon - would be a very good window imo. If Vlachodimos is better than Dubravka then better still. I agree that there's an upgrade to be made at RW but I'd be prepared to wait if the right target isn't available this window, and I don't believe any success next season hinges on it. We scored about 400 goals last season with a patched-up squad.

Given Trippier Schär Coloccini Enrique Ben Arfa Bruno Joelinton Ritchie Shearer Martins Carroll might've taken the spot alongside Shearer had he not returned as an oil tanker. I know Martins went quite wrong but I adored him. Surprised about the number of shouts for Beye. Not cos he wasn't good, but Tripps...
-
Think that was Everton (h) under Howe when his revival was well under way, no? Still, the shout is a good one, incredible how hopeless he was.
-
Guy's a tool. No way that approach is sustainable in the modern game.
-
Of all the names in this thread?
-
Will throw Bigirimana's name out there. Surprising that he had such a non-career after a very bright start.
-
Daryl Murphy is the sweet spot in answer to this, like, doubt I can beat it. Fair play to Pilks there. Acuna is so well forgotten that literally everyone remembers him.
-
Elated that he's staying.
-
His contract only just ran out.
