  1. Content management update. Guardian piece: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/oct/10/uk-and-ireland-confirmed-hosts-euro-2028-men-uefa
  2. I've absolutely no idea what the infrastructure is like and nor do I have much of a clue about their footballing heritage beyond the performance of their national team and a few household names, but the idea of a World Cup in Morocco seems incredibly fun. As such - if they have to share the tournament between confederations - Morocco + Iberia feels like a very sensible shout logistics-wise/carbon-wise, given the lack of distance there compared to, say, somewhere like Paraguay and Spain. Oh, wait...
  3. Stupid thing is, it's not even that long ago that I was comparably buzzing after a match, cos that Spurs game last season was absolutely iconic too. I'm not saying it was more special (it wasn't; PSG will be remembered with the same generational weight as Barca/Howay 5-0); I'm just saying that this era is bloody littered with truly amazing moments. It's just staggering how good life is as a NUFC fan when you compare it to the abject misery of October 6th 2021.
  4. This is a decent replacement, if you haven't already seen it.
  5. Evening meal re-cap. Currently down as attending the meal at Chilli Padi at 19:45. 6. Likewise. As soon as the Metro one appeared, that one was inevitable and I was very anxious to get in there first to prevent anyone from the satisfaction, but alas...
  7. In which case I think my average should be 21 (or 22 if you're rounding up)? please this is all i have
  8. Wor Eddie so very obviously dragged kicking and screaming from the training ground for that snap.

It was maddening watching it on the tele cos the only replays were of the potential offside on Bruno (of which there clearly was none), so it was like, wtf are they waiting for? Only afterwards did they show the potential Lascelles handball, which is presumably what was causing the bulk of the delay.
  10. Very curious to see how Rooney gets on if he comes back to England; got a lot of time for him these days and he was unlucky at Derby. No idea what (to an outsider) his poor performance at DC says about him, like. If he does areet I can see him in the England dugout one day.

Yeah, I thought that. The thunk! as he connects with it, followed by it smacking the net, would've been positively orgasmic. Also, watching it back, fuck me it took an eternity to make the bloody call. I guess I didn't notice the length of time on the night because I was having a fierce debate with the PSG fan I was sharing the pub with. I suppose that's the trouble with clear and obvious; sometimes it takes several minutes to debate something that is obvious.
  12. A satisfying strikethrough on the bucket list this week as I finally took in a match on the continent; specifically Toulouse vs LASK in the Europa League on Thursday. Was fairly unimpressed with the quality but not with the surroundings. Lovely stadium and a canny atmosphere, though it was unsurprisingly generated almost entirely by a several-thousand-strong Ultras section at one end. A great experience though and we were fortunate enough to be very close to the action, right behind the dugouts. Finished 1-0 to Toulouse and my assumption is that that's a big deal, as they haven't been in Europe since 2010. A very buzzing 30,000 spectators supported the theory. The stadium is interestingly located in an island in the middle of the Aude River meaning there's only really a couple of routes towards and away from the ground, resulting in bottlenecks, but it wasn't a disaster. Great occasion, was thrilled to finally take something like this in.

    St James' Park

Winds me up something fierce that people pile into here clamming for a shiny corporate bowl only hours after those incredible scenes from the other night. I understand the reasons why but the idea can absolutely fuck the fuck off for me.
  14. The lad is just an absolute diamond. I love the likes of Schar and Miggy because of who signed them and because of their story here; I love the likes of Burn and Longy because it's wonderful that the team has a Geordie identity; I love Trippier because he represents sheer excellence... but there's something really very special about Bruno. You just feel so proud that someone of such immense quality represents us, and loves us as much as we love him. Great news. Onwards and skywards.
  15. Tried and failed by the looks of it. Can't wait for Shearer's, not.
  16. @GeordieDazzler I've got that feeling this morning where I just don't know where to start. What an incredible night that was.
  17. Yep, loved that. A contributing factor to what's now gonna be as iconic a modern strip can be.
  18. Those white shorts are iconic now, like. I assume we're not gonna see anything different for the rest of the group stage. European as fuck.

Adore the guy. He is this team. Sela sponsor looks tiny on him.

Difficult to find the words to describe that goal, it was simply one of the best ever imo. I was watching the game in France with a couple of very decent PSG fans so I'd mostly kept my emotions in check all night, but I hit the roof when that went in. Sensational. I get it but I think the days of iconic moments in commentary are over. All I can hope for these days is that they don't ruin the moment. Fletcher didn't, thankfully.
  21. There's just no words for that Schar goal, like. I feel like I can't not die happy having seen that. Peak life.
