  1. Some sites says Porto couldn't afford to pay what Marseille wanted so they agreed to pay 2M euro instead He played his last game yesterday against Rennes and was the worst player on the pitch. Worth mention is he has wanted to leave the club for a while now. Actually...
  2. The title was worth it, especially considering that PSG will take it for the next 20 years. Cheers to Porto for their consistent robbery, though. I honestly would not deal with them if I was a top club. bargain that like.....Arsenal should have went for him in the summer (as heavily rumoured).....it's not like they are following their age policy these days of signing up and coming youngsters anyway.
  3. Genoa have signed a striker called Ciro Immobile El Hamdaoui to Fiorentina watched him for Feyenoord last season a canny few times. Looks like he could make the grade IMO
  4. looks a fantastic prospect and still just 19 Just read his full name is: John Alberto Fernando Andres Luigi Olof Guidetti
  5. read this on a another site earlier.... I just wanted to come on here, having watched the criticism of Mariappa from afar, to put them right. I had a season ticket at NUFC for 3 years, but when I had to move back home (watford) before moving to the city (London) I had a Watford season ticket for two years. Now I don’t know what basis everyone else is judging him on, I guess the fact they don’t know who he is and plays in the Championship but I can actually judge him on 70 odd games over 2-3 seasons. The boy is committed, quick, strong and good in the air for a smaller player. He was there at the same time Williamson was and Mariappa was also considered the star defender. If he didn’t play they more than often lost, and definitely leaked goals. He is a good player and would do a good job as BACK UP, because that’s what we are signing, not a first choice. What gets me even more about the fact people criticise him is that inevitably the same people want to see Douglas come in, a player that they also probably have never really seen play, but they have bought him on Football manager. Mariappa is far better in the sense that he knows he is coming as back up and will not agitate for first team – if douglas comes in and finds himself on bench next season how long will it be until he wants to leave/causes trouble in the dressing room? Still back the management who have done so well on transfers, I think Mariappa is good enough (far better than Willo) and they think he is good enough too. If you disagree, because you have watched Mariappa play 10-20 times and have identified faults I haven’t fine, if its because of rep/who he plays for then you aren’t qualfied to make that judgment.
  6. Bundesliga - Bayern's ‘new striker’ stunt backfires Bayern Munich have angered their fans after a media stunt in which they claimed to be unveiling a new striker backfired. The German club announced on their website that “a spectacular name” would be signing for the club, with the unveiling to follow in the afternoon. The news generated a huge wave of excitement from fans on social networking sites to see which superstar striker had been brought to the Allianz Arena. Fans were able to watch the unveiling on the club’s Facebook page, but were disappointed when they tuned in. Bayern Munich’s general manager Christian Nerlinger was shown in the video unveiling the new player’s identity, only for users to see their own Facebook profile picture. The users then saw their own name appear on the back of a Bayern Munich number 8 shirt. “Dear fans, you probably already noticed, that we did not sign a new player,” a statement on Bayern Munich’s Facebook page read. “This app is for our fans to show the importance of you for our club.” Within half an hour of the announcement the Bayern Munich explanation had attracted well over 3,000 comments, almost universally negative. “Failed PR campaign, very, very weak,” said one commenter, Tim Wiedmann. “You stupid idiots! I’ve sacrificed my lunch break for a bad joke,” added Bunyamin Divarci. “Those responsible must feel the consequences.”
  7. Certainly wasn't w*** in Germany. Saw him live for Hamburg (and on tv) a couple of times last season, technically very, very giftet. Might lack a bit of end product, but a real threat down his wing. Can play on the left or right. Good player. only seen him a few times but reminds me of Obertan...bags of pace but as someone said, lacks end product.
  8. "fantastische" win for Steve McClaren on his return to FC Twente...5-0
  9. Canavarro and Cordoba even shorter at 5 ft 9 and 5 ft 7 respectively.....not the tallest but are/were good man markers. I have no idea about this fella Mariappa like....
  10. SHOLA Ameobi has counted them in and then counted them out since making his Newcastle debut against Chelsea in September 2000. The Toon’s longest-serving outfield player has seen it all since bursting on to the scene as a teenager during the early years of Sir Bobby Robson’s reign. He’s worked for 10 managers and has probably had more strike partners than any current Premier League forward. “I’d guess it’s around 28,” he said. “And I’ve had almost as many managers.” The actual figure of strike partners is 21, with £10m signing Papiss Cisse set to become the 22nd striker recruited since Ameobi’s arrival on the first-team scene. But Cisse’s arrival hasn’t got Ameobi sweating over his place. “You would think that in a way, the signing would disappoint me but it doesn’t,” he said. “We’ve had numerous strikers come in since I’ve been here and it does not change me. You’ve got to fight for your place at every club. “Cisse is a top player who’s done fantastically well in the Bundesliga and his signing is really exciting.” With Cisse and top scorer Demba Ba at the African Nations Cup, Ameobi has the chance to ensure he still has a key role under Alan Pardew, starting at Fulham today. “If you’ve got the shirt, I know the manager is faithful to the team if we’re doing well,” he added. “Some managers say stuff and don’t really stick to it but this one gives everyone a chance. “Of course, we’ve had stand-outs like Demba Ba, but generally if you do well, you are going to stay in the team and I can’t see that changing.”
  11. Milan haven't been doing very well with left backs recently. Taiwo has been a disappointment by all accounts. They also have Urby Emanuelson who hasn't impressed, Zambrotta (who plays both sides), Antonini (woeful) and Didac Vila who they sent back to Spain last season.
  12. Currently abroad but must be blocked by this ISP for some reason.
  13. is nufc.com down? Hasn't been working the last couple days for me.....don't know if it's because of the Papiss excitement
  14. What a name indeed. (Admittedly, I had to google it to make sure ) Maybe try to peel him away from Sochaux in the future?
  15. definitely. Ideal as a backup striker which he will probably be now.
  16. well she is not Japanese to start with despite the thread title. Where did the OP get that from? She is from Nepal but grew up in the U.S but class anyway
  17. wouldn't quite say they are incredible mind.......they do buy an incredible amount of players on the cheap and then just loan them out. Of course eventually some of them will make it as we have seen. Just look at Granada team in La Liga.........half their squad are Udinese players on loan (mainly because of their owner owning both clubs)...... If you look at the wiki page you can see the players they have sent on loan and reserves. 11 co owned players and a further 28 players out on loan ffs
  18. AC MILAN COMUNICATO UFFICIALE: AC Milan comunica che Alexandre Pato resterà in maglia rossonera. Scopri le sue parole su http://bit.ly/n5dVFV AC MILAN OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: AC Milan communicate that Alexandre Pato will remain with the red&black colors. Find out more http://bit.ly/el0zaB
  19. can`t see any clubs willing to fork out 15m on him anyway......Stoke perhaps at 10m (?) Anyways, it`s not just the transfer fee....it`s the salary he`s on too. No one will pay the salary he`s on now at Liverfool.
  20. Jlloyd Samuel has joined Iranian club Esteghlal in Tehran......
  21. The only reason he'd ever say that is because Pardew put him on a f***ing pedestal in the first place, saying he's "only ever a number 10 behind the striker" and all that. Ben Arfa's never had a problem playing on the wings before. Very strange. Again, Pardew never said that. Gutierrez makes some interesting (and positive) points. Pardew told the Sunday Sun: “To me, Hatem Ben Arfa is a number ten. “I won’t play him on the side. I don’t think he wants to play there, I don’t he enjoys playing there and therefore my gut feeling is that footballers won’t play their best if they’re not happy in the position they’re in. “I remember playing Jermain Defoe on the side when I was at West Ham. Within ten minutes I could tell he didn’t want to play there, it was a waste of time so I stuck him through the middle and Jermain was Jermain. “Ben Arfa’s motivation is to play through the middle of the pitch - he needs to earn that right. He accepted that in pre-season, he worked very, very hard and that’s what we’ll be looking for him to do when he comes back in and around the team.” http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2011/09/18/goals-struggle-not-a-long-term-issue-alan-pardew-79310-29442352/
  22. this guy seems to be getting quite famous...doing the rounds it seems! WTF!
  23. Wigan are not cash strapped are they? Dave Whelan has said he doesn't need to sell players in the past and Zoggy only went because of his desire to move on etc. Don't think 8-12m is cheap for Ashley standards.....would be amazed if we spent anything over 5m (let alone anything with the way things usually pan out) Olic on loan sounds more realistic
  24. don`t think he can go anywhere anyway this window. IIRC there is some sort of rule where a player can`t sign for 2 clubs within 1 year (release clause or not?)
