  1. probably less than than. Heard he started off well at Hoffenheim but wasn't a regular last season hence them allowing him to be loaned out.....not sure if Swansea could afford him still
  2. Andrea Stramaccioni? Is this man fictional? He doesn't even have a wikipedia page
  3. Did he f*** say those things. He did say Jenas has the potential to be anything he wants. Speaking of Sir Bobby, here is an old Four Four Two interview with him.... http://fourfourtwo.com/interviews/one-on-one/224/article.aspx
  4. Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has dodged a driving ban after his lawyer won an extraordinary argument in court. Pulis was clocked doing 96mph in his BMW in a 60mph zone on the M42 after seeing his men thrashed 5-0 at Bolton, an offence that saw him exceed 12 points on his licence - and should therefore have earned him an automatic ban. But according to a report in The Sun, his solicitor Mike Stephenson successfully argued to magistrates that Pulis would be so badly affected by losing his licence that it would put the club in danger of relegation - a punishment which would affect a huge number of people, businesses who have sunk £60 million into the club and several charities that Pulis supports up and down the country. "They would suffer if they were relegated as a result - and the children who he would not be able to assist and the people of Stoke could suffer if Mr Pulis lost his licence," Stephenson told Leamington Spa Magistrates' Court. Stoke are currently 14th in the table, 12 points clear of the relegation places with 10 matches left of the season. Pulis, who is estimated to earn £1m a year, also claimed he could not use a chauffeur in case his driver discovered and then leaked secret details of transfers. The Stoke boss, whose top-of-the-range BMW is provided free by local dealer Knights, was fined £2,500 but allowed to carry on driving despite now having 15 points on his licence.
  5. Just noticed in Belgium their league format is very "MLS" like.....had no idea until now. After 30 games, apparently the top 6 go into a playoff to compete for the title....looks like Anderlecht might take it this time.
  6. Know this is a few days old and perhaps it's already been discussed, but quite interesting comments imo. Can somebody tell me if it's true that the Spanish clubs are exempted from paying their debt, or if Hoeness is just talking out of his arse? Is the Real Madrid+Barcelona domination of European football a result of the irresponsible fiscal behavior we've seen at the national level, or would it be unfair to blame the state for the debt of the Spanish football sides? If Spain turn into the new Greece, will we keep seeing Spanish football clubs that, contrary to the reality, give the impression of Spain as a healthy and blossoming economy? "Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness has slammed the behaviour of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Considering the European debt crisis, Hoeness is furious over the spending of Real and Barca. Ahead of tomorrow's Champions League draw, Hoeness barked: "For me this is ridiculous, it is unthinkable. "We (Germany) paid hundreds of millions of euros (to Spain) to get out of the s*** and then the clubs are exempted from paying their debt to pay for stars like Cristiano (Ronaldo) or Lionel Messi. This cannot be." Hoeness continued: "Only Madrid owe more money than all the Bundesliga."
  7. would be a cracking signing even though our record with Deportivo players is awful Mo Diame too.....
  8. does anyone have the article/link to Solano's comments about Ben Arfa recently?
  9. agreed....seems to have matured alot more than his Lyon and Marseille days when he was pretty famous for a good whinge and falling out with coaches. Hope he starts more.....
  10. SPL - McCulloch: I'll play for free to save Gers The Daily Record reports that the veteran midfielder-turned-striker will pass up around a quarter of a million pounds of salary between now and the end of the season. The 33-year-old has even promised not to claim back his £20,000-a-week salary from the club's new owners when a buyer is finally found. McCulloch, who played for Wigan for six years before moving to Rangers in 2007, is desperate not to be one of the players axed from the squad at Ibrox as administrators try to save £1m a month. The paper reports that he officially made his offer through players' union chief Fraser Wishart - and four other Rangers stars are considering following suit, as is manager Ally McCoist. And the show of loyalty has impressed Paul Murray, a key man in the 'Blue Knights' consortium that is trying to take over the club. "Lee McCulloch epitomises everything that Rangers Football Club is about," said Murray. "It's about people like Lee and Ally McCoist - people who love the club and are prepared to do anything they can to defend the club and to save the club. "It's an incredible gesture."
  11. "Church ruined my career" A retired semi-professional footballer is suing the Baptist church for £10m, claiming the 19 years he spent as a "fervent evangelist" ruined his chances of playing for Manchester United. According to the London Evening Standard, 46-year-old Arquimedes Nganga, who currently lives in Forest Hill, London, but used to play for a third division side in his native Portugal, quit the sport at the age of 25, two years after he converted to the Baptist faith. He believes he could have earned £20,000 a week, despite never making more than £200 a month playing semi-professionally. "I could definitely have had a long career in the Premiership," Nganga said. "I see many players playing today who I am not inferior to – and perhaps even better than. Most midfielders are either defensive or attacking but I was both. I had something new." Nganga has filed papers at the high court, accusing the leaders of the Baptist Union of Great Britain of destroying his social life, causing him "psychological harm" and defrauding him of money through compulsory donations. The church said it will vigorously contest the claim. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/mar/05/footballer-sues-church-manchester-united

anyone see the PSG - Montpellier game? 2-2 and Giroud manage to injure 2 PSG defenders
  13. Heard he didn't really convince in the reserves but best of luck to him and he has time on his side. Will need to bring another keeper in I'd assume......Harper and Forster could well move on...and be left with Eliot who is s*** and Jak Alnwick? Was touted as a 'starlet' by Ryder and Co if I remember right. isn't every young player in the Chron touted as a "starlet"?
  14. the question is which idiot decided to stage the handshake lineups in the first place? QPR-Chelsea 2 weeks ago had the wisdom not to stage one to avoid this circus...

  16. Premier League - Chelsea FC spell own name wrong Fans around the world probably didn't pay much attention at first when an advert for the club shop's website appeared on advertising boards around Stamford Bridge. But then something about those adverts began to jar, and thousands of people started to realise that the club had managed the unenviable feat of spelling its own name wrong in those adverts. http://eur.yimg.com/ng/sp/eurosport/20120206/25/c9ceb3bf6c83eae4f75359f80289cce9.jpg
  17. can't believe clubs still use fax machines for conducting business. Usually always hear of failed late signings in transfer windows because of fax problems
  18. Didn't he mostly play in midfield for Nottingham Forest anyway? Pretty sure he played usually DMC but filled in for defence when needed for them. Anyways, doing a decent job for us in recent games
  19. 20. Milito certainly looks back to his best....the conditions were atrocious in that game though
  21. pretty much the same bar Giroud I think. Clyne..I don't know. He's a London boy and if a southern club comes knocking he might prefer staying down there. Would definitely have Diame here given that he's on a free....not completely sold on Hoillet but another good potential free signing and obvious improvement on Obertan. Douglas from FC Twente? If he gets his Dutch passport (or already has) ....it's a good possibility. Another freebie.
