his agent confirmed he`s be interested in a move to us but nothing from the club. From the Chron today However, he did admit that something could happen in the free transfer market, he told the Chronicle: “I haven’t even thought about it, if I’m honest, but we will do over the next 48 hours.”

IIRC one of the reasons Zaragoza sold him is that he failed to get one and they needed his non-EU player roster spot for Suazo. that would be surprising considering it`s piss easy to get a Spanish passport for Latin American players (2 years residence IIRC) . He was there for 6 years ....but fair enough if what you say is correct. He went on loan to Stuttgart right after he accrued the mandatory two years, and wasn't able to start the process until he returned to Zaragoza (must reside in Spain, and I suspect that leave might have even "resetted" the clock - I'm not that familiar with the law). Also I suspect he was due a bonus if he achieved it (pretty common in Spain to pay a bonus to a player when he gets an EU passport) and Zaragoza don't have a pot to piss on. Found out he does indeed have a Spanish passport....at least according to his agent. "During his time with Dortmund and Zaragoza, a host of Premier League clubs were very keen to get him, but at that time he could not get a work permit and he did not have European citizenship. "Now that has changed and he is available on free transfer. He has many good options in England. "The player also has offers to return to Germany and Spain, but he didn't want to finish his career having not played in England and sees now as the ideal time to fulfil that. "He is keen to get the deal done, but there is not the urgency like some deals as he can sign outside the window." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6704074,00.html

I read on another Brazilian football forum that the reason Ewerton left was not all down to injury but also due to the fact that he couldn't link up well with their main striker Kleber....but he was decent there...1 goal every 3 games roughly including coming off the bench.
  5. Small interview in French with him (google translate)...mentions Ben Arfa a little etc http://www.footmercato.net/premier-league/yven-moyo-j-aimerais-faire-la-meme-carriere-que-ben-arfa_56289 has a Facebook fan page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Yven-Moyo/103542379685463?v=wall

were they relegated that season? I remember they had a few cracking players in their team the time they went down (like Aimar, Ayala, Oliveira etc....)

I`m assuming he`s got a Spanish passport from his time in Spain to bypass the usual non EU work permit isssue .....(he played 7 times for Brazil but that was a good while back)
  9. Neuer was outstanding for Schalke in the derby yesterday.

he was a very good player at Dortmund and Zaragoza....just hope he`s not lost the pace that made him so effective. Certainly a much better option than Aliadiere.
  11. have the Tiote goal GIF but don`t think I can post it here(?).....was going to use it as my avatar

  15. Newcastle made a stunning bid to sign Thierry Henry on a short-term deal to replace Andy Carroll but the former Arsenal striking is commited to New York Red Bulls' pre-season campaign. Last night a well-placed Newcastle source told the Daily Express: “We had a real attempt to get Henry but the start of the MLS season worked against us. “Carroll’s eleventh-hour departure prevented us getting a regular signing to replace him. But we would like to find a quality replacement, given that we have to look at players outside regular club contracts.” The Daily Express understands that Newcastle were prepared to pay Henry a six-figure weekly wage to accept a short-term contract to sign up. Now, they will back manager Alan Pardew’s attempt to find an alternative solution, having also lost experienced striker Shola Ameobi with a facial injury. It also emerged last night that Newcastle tried to sign Liverpool forward Milan Jovanovic as a makeweight in the Carroll deal. But Jovanovic, 29, remained out of reach after the Magpies played hard-ball over Carroll’s fee. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/227279/Newcastle-s-move-for-Thierry-Henry-to-replace-hero-Andy-Carroll
  16. true but a lot of Argies have Spanish/Italian passports.....there is also the loophole of the "outstanding young talent" (eg: Anderson, Mikel etc) rule which gets around the visa issues too...that rule might only apply to the Man U`s , Arsenal and Chelseas of the world though. There is the South American U-20 tournament (where the likes of Cambiasso, Riquelme, Samuel, Saviola, Tevez were noticed more) going on right now and I`d like to think we have scouts there but 100% sure we don`t.
  17. probably already mentioned but IMO we should be looking at the top players from the Dutch/Belgian leagues. I think most are pretty realistic to get. Dutch leagues: FC Twente- Nacer Chadli Dries Mertens - FC Utrecht Björn Vleminckx - NEC Belgian leagues Legear - Anderlecht Lucas Biglia - Anderlecht Marvin Ogunjimi- RC Genk The likes of Hazard and Lukaku are out of our range though IMO. As I said in previous posts too, the Argentine league also has some top players at good prices.
  18. squad been announced yet? nowt on the bbc site earlier at least
