    Ronaldo

I hope he continues his career in competitive sports. Hot dog eating contests are a pretty big thing in some places in the USA.
  3. is he that improved at Bolton? I haven't watched them much granted ...but he was a bit of a liabilty in his Fulham days.
  4. apparently he's trying to get Dutch citizenship and wants to play for Netherlands....would avoid work permit issues (not that we're interested in him).

  6. Haven't checked the Argie squads since Maradona left, but I hope to dear god Demichelis isn't getting in front of him. Suits me that he's not getting called up and noticed and potential injury....but he should be getting in the squad based on his performances. I don't think Argentina are that strong in central defence or even right back where Colo usually played before. The last squad against Portugal had Garay (who never gets a game for Real),Burdisso (who I don't rate that highly) and 2 Spartak Moscow players. Demechelis was in the squad prior to that in November along with Heinze. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentina_national_football_team#Current_squad
  7. what did he say? I'm abroad at the moment and it's only accessible to people in the UK
  8. still seething at dropping those 4 extra points in injury time against Sunderland and Spurs

    Ronaldo

loved their team back then when they had Ronaldo, Stoitchkov, Luis Enrique, De La Pena, Guardiola, Sergi, Nadal and of course Luis Figo He did well at Inter mind....why did he leave Barca after only a season that time anyway? the usual culprit money? Wouldn't meet his wage demands, iirc he wanted 500 million pesetas (€3m) net per season which was enormous back then. Still the manner of his sale was strange, and imho it was engineered by his agents. One day our president announces there's a deal agreed and the day later Ronaldo claims he's been misled and puts in a transfer request. I was bummed beyond belief. Fortunately the money was reinvested in Rivaldo who also gave us years of beauty. I'd have been gutted too as a Barca fan after that amazing season by Ronaldo.....would have been great to see Ronaldo and Rivaldo in the same Barca team in their primes.

  12. according to this he said the exact opposite Birmingham newcomer Obafemi Martins is glad to be back in England and is relishing the chance to face his old club Newcastle. The 26-year-old Nigerian left Russian club Rubin Kazan during the January transfer window and though he lacks match practice he feels fit again after facing Stoke City on Saturday. Martins enjoyed a memorable three-year spell at St James’ Park and is raring to get his career back on track in the Premier League. Martins said: “I am happy that I am back in England. My last games were on December 5 and Saturday. My body is aching but I am happy that we have won. “I am very impressed. Coming here and playing for Birmingham. Everyone is very friendly and I am happy that I am here. I have been welcomed.” It looks like Martins will keep his place in the Birmingham attack and he will lead the line against his former club at St Andrews. “It is two years since I saw some of the players – it is going to be fun but it will be difficult.” “I will be glad if I score against Newcastle but there will be no flip celebration because I respect the fans.” “Birmingham fans will love it if I score. My tag is to keep ourselves up. I am glad the manager wanted me to join the team.” http://www.footballfancast.com/2011/02/football-news/martins-relishing-newcastle-reunion

    Ronaldo

officially retired --- SAO PAULO (AFP) – Brazilian football legend Ronaldo, who helped his country to two World Cup trophies and is still the tournament's top scorer, is to retire Monday, Brazilian media reported. "I can't take any more," the 34-year-old star told the Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper. "I wanted to continue, but I can't do it any more. I think of an action, but I can't do it the way I want to. It's time." "It's the body that's hurting me," he told Globo television. "The head wants to go on, but the body can't take any more."

  16. Chris Kamara has defended Newcastle’s signing of Shefki Kuqi. After the last-minute sale of main targetman Andy Carroll during the transfer window Alan Pardew was left short of attacking options with only youngster Nile Ranger, inexperienced Leon Best to choose from. But this week Pardew dipped into the transfer market to sign free agent Kuqi in a bid to strengthen his side’s choice of strikers and Kamara defended the signing, claiming the Newcastle boss was left with little choice. “You have to say needs must,” he told talkSPORT. “[Newcastle] lost their best striker at a minute to 11pm on the transfer deadline. They had no time whatsoever to make contingency plans or Alan Pardew didn’t because he was thinking I want to keep Andy Carroll. “They should have made contingency plans within those 24 hours but they didn’t so they’ve left themselves short. So now you can only sign players who are not at any football club. “Shefki Kuqi is adding to the numbers. If he comes on as a substitute and causes a few problems he’s done alright for Alan Pardew. “If he comes on and scores a goal, he’s done brilliant. If he plays the best football of his career then he’s been a magician and Alan Pardew will be carried round Newcastle on the fans shoulders.”
