  1. Steve Bruce would be a good fit for Newcastle He said it was disrespectful to be touted for the job with Alan Pardew still in the hot seat at St James'. Yet he didn't rule it out in the future. Deep down there will be part of Bruce -- a boyhood Toon fan -- that wants to lead out the black and whites as boss. Bruce will have family at the game and knows he will enjoy his post-match beer back in the North-East if he can pull off another win against the Magpies in their own backyard. Putting aside his Sunderland links, he's scored a few points in recent times with Newcastle fans. Taking Steve Harper and Hatem Ben Arfa to the KC Stadium at Hull shows he appreciates the values of players who still have something to offer, whether on the field or off it. If he gets the best out of Ben Arfa he will certainly tick a box for some Geordie fans. Throw in the fact that he won promotion with Hull, stabilised the Tigers and reached an FA Cup final last term, plus a brief stint in Europe, and he hasn't done a bad job. If anything, it's probably one of the best he's done as manager since hanging up his boots. His stock in management could rise even higher if he gets a famous result at Newcastle on Saturday afternoon. In my opinion, rather than being nervous, he will be rubbing his hands at the idea. Bruce knows St James' Park inside out to start with, but with Harper and Ben Arfa by his side, he can tap even deeper into the knowledge and mastermind another win. http://www.espnfc.co.uk/club/newcastle-united/361/blog/post/2042930/steve-bruce-would-be-a-good-fit-for-newcastlebut-fans-should-be-wary?
  2. I know many of you will have seen this but hope to see Jonas back healthy and happy as he was here
  3. Jonas Gutierrez: Newcastle's genuine, larger than life midfielder who never says no to an autograph http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2760159/Jonas-Gutierrez-Newcastle-s-genuine-larger-life-midfielder.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
  4. Newcastle United FC ‏@NUFC 29m We'll be passing on all of your messages of support to @elgalgojonas. Please email [email protected].
  5. http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20140917/club-statement-jonas-gutierrez_2281670_4151958 Newcastle United can confirm that winger Jonas Gutierrez is continuing to receive treatment in Argentina after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. The Club has been aware of Jonas' condition for some time but has respected his wish for privacy as he undergoes treatment with his friends and family around him. Newcastle United managing director, Lee Charnley, said: "We have and will continue to offer Jonas our full support. "We thank our fans for their kind messages of support for Jonas and the thoughts and best wishes of everyone connected to Newcastle United are with him at this time."
  6. I think he's been quite highly regarded in Argentina - I think you are possibly being a bit harsh there. I remember us being linked with him before he moved to Shakthar so he maybe was `on our radar` so to speak before. As for his record, he`s only 23...and his record is not bad. Would like to see him given a chance.....but I guess we`ll plod on with Riviere Banfield 55 apps 15 goals (bear in mind he was just starting out and he would have been off the bench before establishing himself) Velez 22 apps 16 goals Shakthar 13 apps 6 goals Argentina (U-20) 12 apps 5 goals

    John Carver

this is a post from one of the Newcastle facebook forums John Carver came over to a section of Newcastle fans who were singing anti-Pardew songs and had Pardew Out banners and told them all to "come down to the training ground so he could knock them out", and called them a bunch of "fucking cunts".
  8. can still be signed by Russian, South American clubs since their deadline is not the same as ours.
  9. might not even get a regular game with Roma considering they just signed Manolas for 8m to go along with their other defenders Castan / Balzaretti etc who were pretty solid last season in the centre. Anyway, playing alongside a legend like Totti wont be too bad.
  10. This, every word. It is ridiculous how some people can't see that defending with 11 men simply invites pressure actually makes it harder to defend and clear your lines. 'Attack is the best form of defense', a mantra that did Alex Ferguson no harm not many other managers. Keegan and Robson both created fantastic teams here using the same philosophy and it was always a pleasure to watch them. That pleasure is utterly gone these days. English mentaility though of everyone has to track back/get stuck in, show their passion etc.....even the fans over here.....I remember the fans slating the likes of L.Robert etc for not putting in the effort to help defend.
  11. noticed Tino Asprilla is on twatter and did the oh so fashionable bucket challenge. Nominated Les Ferdinand (2 days ago)
  12. Hope so. would be a cracking signing...linked with the scum down the road too it seems. De jong would be influential in him coming to us (assuming other clubs are interested) if this is any truth to the rumour.
  13. Haidara hopeful of edging out Dummett for Newcastle starting spot MASSADIO Haidara is hopeful he has impressed Alan Pardew enough to earn a start against Crystal Palace this weekend. Haidara played the full 90 minutes at Gillingham on Tuesday as Newcastle won the League Cup tie 1-0. It was the left-back’s first start of the season, with Paul Dummett preferred in the opening two Premier League games in the absence of Davide Santon. Haidara impressed against the League One side, and hit the bar with a long-range thunderbolt, but he now wants more match action. He said: “I felt good and happy because it was my first game of the season. “Hopefully I have impressed the manager and now I have to try and play more games. “I tried to get the ball into the box as much as possible for our strikers, because we hadn’t scored before this game. “We have to deliver good crosses if we want the strikers to score, so that is what I was trying to do. “I also thought I had scored my first goal for Newcastle and it was a shame it hit the bar. But it gave me some confidence and now I will try more shots.” http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/haidara-hopeful-of-edging-out-dummett-for-newcastle-starting-spot-1-6807698
  14. according to Vickery, he`s dependent on the wingers creating chances for him.....not a player who can make something for himself (maybe like an Ayoze?) Hope he does well for us, takes his chances and lives upto his FM legendary status
  15. Yeah believe we were. yup, Mangala and Wanyama when they were both in Belgium http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1389820/Newcastle-want-Eliaquim-Mangala-Victor-Wanyama.html
  16. was gonna suggest Ibrahim Affalay, one of the forgotton Dutch players since he moved to Barca and can`t get a game. Looks like he`s got another loan move through, to Olympiakos.
  17. Looks very similar to Velez Sarsfield`s kit (Jonas`s old team) in terms of design
  18. It`s on the Real Sociedad youtube channel....HD Canal de realsociedadtv
  19. , Ah well if Tim Vickery says he's s**** he must be. Vickery is not always right, he said Rafael Scheidt would be an excellent buy for Celtic and would do well in European football....he hasn't lived that moment down Hope he's wrong about Ferreyra but 10 goals wouldn't be too bad a return at all as a loan player who has to adapt to the Premier league in his first season, and as likely a bit part player off the bench.
  20. we were linked with him before he moved to Shakthar but I don't see this rumour being true....especially as all the reports are coming from the Sunday rags
  21. don't think he's stagnated that much having gotton into the Dutch national team and narrowly missing out on the World Cup but yeah, he has been playing in the Eredivisie mostly the last few years....always wanted us to make a bid for him on the back of his decent performances (ok, limited!) for us. Sunderland might well have made a decent signing but we'll see.
  22. completed his move......odd decision by him if he wants 1st team football..just has to fight Diego Lopez and Casillas for the GK position. Atletico would have been an ideal club but I see they signed some unproven Benfica keeper who just played 16 times last season.
