  1. thing is we now have to buy three transfer window's worth of players in the summer, if you know what i mean. our summer spending was hampered by the takeover and we failed to adequately replace Solano or Dyer, while the January Transfer window was bolloxed up by the change in manager. if the board think one or two big signings is enough for the summer they're mistaken, we need almost half a team of them. As I said in one of my famous threads £100m over two windows is what is needed. People who still believe we can get by with one or two signnings are underestimating the 'catch up' we are now involved in.
  2. Wonder what the feeling is now. Interested.

    Keegan is

The only thing I think they've done wrong is sacking Allardyce when they did, it was either too soon or too late. To do it bang in the middle of the transfer window was crazy, they should have either done it earlier and given the new manager a full transfer window after looking at the players first, or they should have waited to get the hard games out of the way with Allardyce. Then they could have brought a new manager in for easier games when he would have had a better chance of lifting players. There are, in my eyes, only two parameters in judging the new board. Decision making over the manager and decision making over investment for the playing staff. You then set these off against their objectives (ambitions for the team and financial). Over these areas, they've not impressed me at all. You say they have only got one thing wrong (and thats fair enough) but it was the single most important decision they had to make. Mort said we wouldnt sign anyone but youngsters in January, which is what happened. I'd have been delighted if we had got Benjani instead of Man city. Broadly agree but they are just getting the hang of this football lark innit.
  4. Rob's just woken from a deep sleep.
  5. Similar systems, both boring as fuck managers.
  6. ...he will recover only to trip and fall and let next season roll under him.
  7. Because KK didn't want to buy anyone in Jan.
  8. Tiny deflection really. He slipped like a seal flopping into the pool at the seal house. Harper on the other hand made a fantastic reflex save which was 100 times harder from similar range with a bigger deflection.
  9. Idiot. For me, when Keegan included in our team a Butt and Smith, f**** him. The tactical Zen master has spoken.
  10. Aston Villa: VILLA: Carson; Mellberg, Laursen, Davies, Bouma; Petrov, Reo-Coker, Barry, Young; Maloney, Carew. Subs: Harewood, Osbourne, Gardner, Taylor, Knight. Feels like we're going to be outclassed on every square inch of the pitch. We've improved by a couple of increments already I think we will play well. Not sure if we'll get a result mind.
  11. Happy to see you're still not doling out lectures on why it would have been silly to buy in the Jan window. I didn't lecture anybody, just said that we shouldn't buy unless we can get the right players. No point in buying Robbie Savage to replace Butt is there? Nobody mentioned Savage. FOI it is alaways difficult to get good players, you have to show ambition and make financial commitments. You make it even moredifficult for yourself if you finish 4th bottom of the league or infact get relegated. KK himself said we could have had 4/5 players, clearly it's his call. But IMO we really should have tried for an alterneate central midfielder...Time will tell. I think if Redknapp had taken the job, Diarra would have come here, but even as Keegan was being installed, he was signing for Portsmouth. It's clearly a position that needs to be strengthened but we need real quality in there, if Keegan doesn't try and sign someone in the summer it'll be fair to criticise. For the moment, we will need to get Faye in there against the better teams. I know we could do with him in defence, but we'll get over-run in midfield otherwise. You make a good point with Diarra. We should have nailed him. The most painful thing that we lost out on him. Especially having seen a good bit of him this season. Funny thing is though, there were actually some idiots saying he wouldn't improve us as he couldn't get into the Arsenal team and we ought to stop buying the top 4's cast offs. Unbelievably infuriating. This unit needs massive re-investment which will hopefully happen in the summer, but what it also could have done with was a freshen up/ alternatives from the Jan window. A game like today is a v good example what if we had started with Diarra instead of Butt? And what if there was a choice from the bench other than Milner when the game started going against us...? KK has a point about buying exactly who he wants and I support him on that. But I will say he is completely wrong if he thinks it is hard to find players who can improve/freshen up this lot.

  15. We played quite well in spells, in fact almost as well as we are going to be allowed to play with the fixtures coming up. We could have had 2 or 3 but so could they so fair result and they really came at us for the last 15 and our def panicked with Cacapa again a liability. We are missing penetration/pace and creativity from midfield, something I still say should have been addressed in the Jan window. IMO KK has taken a gamble by not refreshing the side with one or two players he didn't really need to take...It's not like half this side isn't going to get shipped out in the summer. On a more positive note I thought especially in the first half Duff and Owen played very well.
  16. Will be better than that bloke who said, " You got some fucking brains aintcha!"
  17. The more we see of Ramos's organisation, the more we realise where we might have been now if Jol had gone at the start of the season. The best Spurs performance I've seen in years, everyone leaner, fitter, playing with a purpose, extremely optimistic about the future. Unlike most on the Spurs' forums, I thought Clattenburg did well, as you say, it could have got well out of hand with a different ref. I thought Nani was fortunate to stay on the pitch but, apart from that, no real complaints. We got pulverised for 20 minutes by the best attacking team of the big 4 and very nearly held out. A lot to be encouraged by. Agreed - Spurs deserved to win and its interesting to see how Man Ure implode when they are put under REAL pressure at both the back and front ; 6 yellow cards and a fine for them shows the desperation. I was disappointed they managed to sneak an equalizer at the death. Ramos has made his players fitter mentally and physically - Malbranque looks a different player in a few weeks, but they ALL worked so hard which is why they were able to match Man Ure - Fergie has always placed great store on attacking AND defending AS A TEAM, which is where NUFC's Prima Donnas of past years let the club down - the current side are basically either too old to play a high pressure game, or just too lazy.. Well done ! Quite happy to give credit where it is due, esp when Man U have been the ones discomforted!! Spurs were beaten (the draw) by the ref. FACT.
  18. Rushgoalie?!! Liv looked tired and out of ideas for much of the game. The next big side they play will mullah them.
  19. ...followed by Mascherano kicking at head height in the pen area as Miller goes to head. Pen no 2. Styles!!!!
