  1. Nah the Sven is interested, Agent was on SSN. .....and we have spoken to Sven 3/4 weeks ago. He would be excellent as well.
  2. He might, but they do get stuck in their ways and tend to go with what they know and trust. So it's far from certain and a definite gamble. His record isn't that good, imo. As I've said, he's been managing a club with much lower expectations and that makes a difference. Can you tell me who we should appoint? Realisticaly... I just want to know your opinion about this. Joe Harvey. Frank Watt ftw. Bob Paisley. blueyes.gif
  3. is fathead better HOw about Big Sam Justin Fashanu Allardyce? Any good?

  5. As you said yesterday, it will be interesting to see where the new manager, he or whoever, concentrates the bulk of his summer spending. The one thing I am surprised about is that nobody has criticised the "timing".....or rather admitted that - in their view anyway judged by their comments made previously - the "timing" is quite good, as they think it is relevant. Lets hope Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger don't suddenly become available in September Allardyce will need a new striker though as there isn't anyone on the books who can play his long ball football, as we've witnessed this season with the ammount we've played. Loads of Bolton's goals have been poached in a way that Owen could do too. He needs a big striker though to play the long ball game, Darren Bent for me. There are others on here and on TT who insist he doesnt always play this way though. He may sort out emre's injury problems too which would be a bonus. Darren Bent isn't really the sort of big man he'd be looking for as his hold up play is pretty poor, he's more likely to go for Eidur Gudjohnsen or Peter Crouch if the money is available. A N E L K A. Anelka played that role at Man City quite well although big Sam prefers to have him play a deeper role. I also can't see Bolton selling him cheap after Sam walked out on them for us. It isn't beyong the realms of imagination that Gartside will not cause too much trouble if Sam has already agreed to buy Anelka off him. Just guessing like. Would be £10m ish... Nicolas wants away and would imo be ideal for Owen.

  8. This story does the rounds at the end of every season. There is no such clause in his contract nor any kind of buyout value. However I beleive there probably is some kind of gentlemans agreement regarding qualifying for Europe.
  9. Newcastle with a solid manager is a magnet, he's a good enough name to bring in the players we need. Of course he is. If we start challenging in a year or two imo there won't be many players we can't attract.
  10. Not quite sure how you reached that conclusion. Through his powers of making s**** up. You must have taught him well. Nothing to do with me. He makes his own ITK bollocks up, and believes whatever the papers say. Everything i say is my own opinion, i'm quite clear on that. Cheers. Mate, am messin. Can't someone have a bit of banter round here anymore. Not if you accuse innocent passers by of that kind of ITK bollocks, no. That sort of thing scars a man, leavs him a broken shell of a human being, unable to carry on without professional help. Or something. I never take what I write on here too seriously. Those who know me know that.
  11. Come on BIG Sam. No thank you, thats dirty, etc etc. Lighten up NM you're one of the brighter ones on here.

  13. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2074357,00.html "Bolton's reaction to any possible developments remains to be seen. Their chairman, Phil Gartside, was decisive nine days ago in enforcing Allardyce's resignation from the club and said Bolton would pursue compensation if Allardyce was to be appointed elsewhere. But Gartside had Manchester City in mind specifically when he was speaking then and the readiness of Newcastle and Allardyce to wait until after this season ends suggests that contractual clauses surrounding compensation may have elapsed by next week. Bolton were unable to confirm any details yesterday." This could be spot on hence no official confirmation of anything till the season ends. "Sam Allardyce is expected to be confirmed as the new manager of Newcastle United by the end of next week. It is understood the former Bolton Wanderers manager will be offered a three-year contract at St James' Park and, although there was no comment yesterday from either Newcastle or Allardyce, who is on holiday in Spain, the deal is effectively sealed." Would have preferred a 5 year deal. Quite surprised if it only turns out to be 3 years. Maybe it is a signal that Shearer WILL be next.
  14. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/2007/05/08/sfnrob08.xml "To be manager of Newcastle you have to be a big personality, which was something Kevin Keegan brought to the club," Ferdinand said. "Big Sam won't have any problems in that respect, because he's got a lot of stature and will cope with the pressure that comes with one of the biggest jobs in the game. "You've just got to look at what he achieved at Bolton and see what an impressive personality and character he's got to see it would be the right appointment. He plainly wants to be successful, and I know that from being in the changing room with him. He has a burning desire to win things, and will demand the same from his players. If he does take the job, exciting times will be just around the corner." Must say I agree with all of that. blueyes.gif

or 15 months as in the case of Glenn Roeder Give it up Grame.
  16. Percentage football, tedious to watch at times. Regimented. 2 holding players. No risks. Will get tonked in the final proper. Not the Livrpool style of old. Where would they be without Gerrard? Just my opinion. I really don't rate him that highly. Good manager but not great. Went an bought all the wrong strikers. Has bought 3/4 complete muppets on top of that. This was the year they were meant to challenge for the league?
  17. Did I read you correctly when you said that Allardyce is bettered only by Ferguson and Mourinho? Meaning Big Sam is better than Wenger? I genuinely believe that Allardyce is a better manager than Wenger - and the Fat Waiter at Liverpool too. A bunch of us were debating this very issue last year and a pal of mine summed it up very succinctly. "Allardyce could do a great job at Arsenal or Liverpool, whilst neither Wenger nor Benitez could effectively manage Bolton Wanderers." It stacks up for me. Benny Benitez is wildly overrated.
  18. Thanks for the sentiments. Do you think you will sell Anelka? What do you see as Sam's weaknesses and perhaps oppurtunities missed? We will definitely sell Anelka if we fail to qualify for the UEFA Cup on Sunday. I think his sale is probable even if we do qualify. I'm not too bothered to be honest. He's not really set the heather on fire and I suspect he's had his eye on a spell in Italy for a while. We'll make a decent profit on him and hopefully replace him. As to Sam's weaknesses. He has never been convincing in the transfer market when it comes to strikers. At whatever level he was bidding there has never been a great buy, in my view. He has the bung baggage - but I suspect he shares that problem with another 80% of PL managers - past and present. He sometimes sticks too dogmatically to a formation. When the FA sack McLaren he will tell everybody that he still wants the job - even if he's your manager. Minor weaknesses, in the scheme of things. I fail to see how you will do better. How does this work there? Who were the core characters and their roles? I noticed Anelka and Diouf move out to the left buying time for the onrush. You play a lot better with Campo in the side imo as he finds space for the second ball and is very intelligent at spotting runs. Anelka was a masterstroke imo.
