Skysports saying this Puncheon is set to move to the Premiership. Weren't we supposedly interested in him?

Scholes in 2003 (2-6), but that's quite a while ago.

The "We Won't Win Another Game This Season" Fred aka Relegation-o-meter
AlanSkÃrare replied to Stu's topic in Football
Just realised the mackems are 2 points off Chelsea. This season -
Superb display, effortless though. I don't think I've witnessed us playing two teams of this shit calibre in a week's time before. West Ham are in serius trouble. Loved the way Ferguson seemed to wind up Ben Haim from the start. Coloccini, Best, Harper, Tioté and Barton all brilliant. I know it isn't the time but was it only me who got a bit annoyed at Lövenkrands for not setting up Shane Ferguson late on? Ferguson was well ahead of Ben Haim but Lövenkrands still chose to cut inside and shoot. I'm sure he wouldn't have done that if it was a "senior player" bursting forward.

Grant, Hodgson and Ancelotti all for the sack tomorrow? I can see Hodgson taking charge of West Ham immediately.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
AlanSkÃrare replied to Pilko's topic in Football
Can Tottenham ever get better than what they're currently at? I'd say they're at 95% of what they're capable of. Think the best they can ever be is a top 4 side occasionally with the odd Cup win. We're at about 60% of where we could be capable of, which in 4-5 years time could be where Spurs are now. If he's to leave us, it should be for a club like Man Utd, Chelsea, or God forbid, Man City, where he knows he's going to win stuff regularly in the next 10 years. I don't agree that we're currently at 95% of what we're capable of tbh. Providing Levy still backs us financially, we keep all our decent players and invest in a few positions, we can be much bigger then we are now in a few years. It all depends on other teams though. I think you can challenge the very top if you abandon your wage structure in order to keep players like Bale and to attract some really good players in the coming seasons. Also that new stadium would further increase your revenues as it would - according to your financial reports - be full for pretty much every game even if it was in the region of 50-60k. Difference is Newcastle already have many of the pieces in place to make things happen, just need to make sure the financial part gets healthy before anything can materialise. And get rid of the monkeys running the club of course. -
We really don't need any CBs. Surely telling Spuds to bugger off on Carroll means Bentley is long gone? I'd be quite happy about that.

That's absolutely great then. Fantastic if true. -
Super, super signing. Just hope to god there is no plan to sell Carroll just because we've paid some money now.

Signing Ben Arfa to make us all happy just before selling Carroll? -
Just went to have a look in the old Hughton thread. Some of the comments when Golfmag first mentioned the possibility of Pardew http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,67026.msg2582486.html

"We've put in a £5m bid for Mbia and another unnamed player. Reasonable fees, in my opinion".

What? Never thought I'd say this, but actually feel sorry for Blackburn.
-
I remember us winning something like two in 03/04 (Boro and..?), still finishing 5th. Don't think I've seen us play this well on the road since 02/03..
-
Still can't believe this is about to happen.

Blackburn fans seem really worried about what Venky are doing. Sacking Allardyce, publicity stunt with Ronaldinho now and relying on Kean to see them through the season. I think West Ham have more going for them than Blackburn tbh. Wolves, Wigan (by far the worst side we've played this season) and Blackburn for me. I can see Fulham and Birmingham in the mix as well.

Didn't Caulkin say this was going to be confirmed by the club today?

Really impressed by the improvement since he came back from that injury. Remember what the likes of Dave Cotterill did to him last season and now seeing him battle every winger with a good level of success.

This first half of the season is the best I've seen a Newcastle midfielder produce for years. Playing out of position, whole hearted, excellent passer of the ball, superb crossing ability, full of running and that desire to fight for the cause. You can really tell he cares, and this goes for most of our team. Big difference in this side to the one that went down. Barton is turning in to one of my all time favourites tbh.
