He’s quite simply my favourite player in world football and I’ve not been this invested in an NUFC player since Hatem. There are other players on our team I am equally fond of but Sandro has it all.

Schar has the cross-field diagonal in his locker but I feel like Thiaw sees the midfield/forward line breaking pass more often, and plays it. So far he’s showed a tendency to play a ‘round the corner’ pass into midfield when the ball is played to him quickly from the right and he’s under close pressure. The reason I came in here, though, was to highlight a pass he played through the forward and midfield line into Elanga on around 75 mins. 9 out of 10 CBs keep the ball moving right to Trippier, and then Trippier plays to Elanga when Forest have had time to move over. Thiaw sees it and plays it really sharply and accurately. It’s passing at least as good as Botman at his best. Absolutely loved to see it.

Deserves huge credit for today. If the refereeing had been fair that would have been an absolute pasting. Clearly the half time team talk had a big impact as well.
