Heh, top of the page says it's happening on the twelfth. Ok so far, nothing very direct regarding his future, etc. He says that he doesn't want to leave the PL for Spain unless it's for a top team, though. He praises the PL a lot and says he wants to keep playing in England (which since he's talking to Spanish readers means something). Also says that it's very hard to make the Spanish squad playing abroad unless you're in a big team, but he hopes to get his reward in time if he keeps doing things well. And this is the problem we can't solve. If he does go, I'm almost certain it will be down to this rather than an unhappiness regarding any wage issues, or our ambitions for next season. even though he keeps mentioning our need to bring in players?

What could they do though? We can't get back in the top 4 overnight. We should aim to be a top seven club next season. If we start spending some of the £30 million Liverpool paid us up front, secure Barton on a new contract, then who knows, he may stay. I personally think he wants to play for a top four club, with European football to get the international recongition he deserves. I agree, but even if we spend a lot of the £30m there's a good chance Jose will still fancy a shot elsewhere. Staff and players from both teams have said this year that they'd like to finish above their rivals, that's not surprising and it should be the case. What is surprising is that it's so important to you lot considering the recent history of both clubs. Why wouldnt we want to finish above you in our first season back in the league? It's a significant achievement to stay up as it is. If you take it as a compliment that we 'now care so much about sunderland' it's a function of how far back we've fallen, not how far forward you lot have come. The fact that your manager was saying you need to make finishing above us your main aim in the post 5-1 interviews says it all about your club. Those were the only words of encouragement he could offer to the fans, he's knows as well as we do that your lot will always define successes or failures against what nufc are doing. Look at that fucking picture man, it tells you everything you need to know.
