Shay Given signs for Manchester City for £5.9m plus add-ons

whether this deal is good for the club depends solely on how we use the money. if those with the power do whats right then the positives will out weigh the negatives, simple as that. -

thats a disapointment but you never know, lovenkrands and martins hitting them on the break sounds pretty tasty -
Newcastle United 1 - 1 Mackems - 01/02/09 - Post match reaction from page 26

enrique was quality today apart from his usual 3 or 4 passes missed that my gran could've made, aside from that, had an absolute stormer, pleased for the lad, and us. -
Haven't heard otherwise? my brother's been trying to tell me all day that he's out til april, just wanted to check as i hadnt heard anything either
-
can someone just confirm for me if jonas is fit for tomorrow?
-
that concerns me most too, which is why i'm so anxious to find out who's going to be our manager next season, appointing kinnear would be almost souness/roeder levels of stupidity, almost Well mate, if we lose tomorrow (and I normally try to be positive minded on a game by game basis because you can win any game if you play well on the day) we will be 6 points behind even the mackems, with only 14 games left, including home games against ManU, Arsenal and Chelsea. Time and options running out. can you really see us losing tomorrow? i think the most likely result is a draw tbh, hopefully the home advantage will work in our favour, there's a reason why they haven't done the double over us for so long
-
yup, two massive massive games that will have an awful lot of impact on our season as a whole

looks like it Would make your day wouldn't it. As long as all of your doubters are proved wrong. silly boy. I've got 1334 reasons for not wanting to go down and Mike Ashley to succeed, how many do you have ? Unfortunately, not everybody has such blind naive faith as you and others. How have I got blind faith? I've not said we won't go down. saying we are in big danger doesn't mean you want us to go down. Daft lad. A couple of years ago it was almost like loads of people wanted the fat bastard to fail, just so they could be proved right ? What a shame they didn't know a good board when it hit them in the face, even though a few people like me tried to tell them. Anyway - on topic. Our best players are disollusioned, want to go, and we are selling them to raise funds to try and stave off relegation, if that isn't a club designed to compete at lower levels than it has been doing previously, I don't know what is. A bit different to our more recent history when we tried to add good players as often as possible, wouldn't you agree ? regarding the financial situation, i'm honestly interested in your view. do you think that given the recent accounts that the club should still be spending big on players? trying to loan some more money if we aren't making enough ourselves? edit - regarding the season ticket, haven't you already renewed because you've paid upfront? aye, I've just said that in the post above. As for the financial situation, I think they should be trying to avoid relegation whatever it takes although the expense shouldn't be much to ensure it in footballing terms. I am aware of the financial position, but football is all about success. There is no point in being one of the biggest clubs in the country if all you want to do is make a profit playing in the 2nd division or existing in the basement positions in the premiership i agree totally, thats why i'm hoping to god that they ditch kinnear and bring in a solid manager in the summer and give him time, that and some reasonable investement and ditching of the likes of butt, duff, geremi will earn them praise from me
-
and bring in JOOOOOOOOOOE KINEEEEEEEEAR!
-
exactly all for the greater good. not to mention blackburn and boro drawing and pompey losign. damn you stoke! word
-
bolton spurs west brom hull all getting only a point each is fine by me
-
well at least west brom aren't winning, its not great but not a disaster by any stretch
-

fwiw i've heard a few fans of other clubs call this transfer a steal, spurs fans even saying they wish they'd got him, but what do they know
-
i really carnt see spurs going down, id rather they just won today, pull clear now, and leave Bolton nearer to us. This really, same goes for the Stoke/Man City match. Its nice to see them down there but realistically its only a matter of time before they click and storm up the table then things might not be looking so clever for us. Pompey, bolton, smoggies, the scum, stoke and west brom are the teams we need to be losing. yep, was so fucking frustrating watching that man city game

Charles N'Zogbia joins Wigan Athletic for fee believed to be £6.5m
Dr Venkman replied to Nicky's topic in Football
this is the thing, as satisfied as i've been with the deals today, whenever i think about it i always come back to the fact thet we have joe fucking kinnear managing this team and i'm on a downer -
You're not Bob Murray are you, he knew all about accounts. No I'm not. I think even Bob Murray would give up trying to explain the clubs finances to you though. he doesn't have to explain anything other than the success his club had when he ran it. Your talking about accounts, and I'm giving you a very successful accountant. If you think you know better than him how to run a football club........then again, you still back this DOF bollocks don't you , so you're detached from reality in both directions. Yes, that's exactly how it works, he was an accountant and since his club didn't get up to much that explains all you need to know. Just keep on borrowing a spending while avoiding answering all questions about where the moneys coming from is the way eh, Stevie. And I'm the one supposed to be detached from reality. so yo think that because Bob Murray did a good job for his club do you, matthew lad ? I suppose you do have an extra motivation here, other than being unable to admit your DOF bollocks has been shown up for what it is, and this is that your man Mike will be responsible for us playing in your local area of Bristol soon. Care to tell us when Arsenal and Liverpool are going bust, and why their supporters are so unhappy these days Arsenal are in very real danger of struglling financially, I imaigine they're in a posiiton to spend should the worse happen becasue they have been managed financially and not spent huge amounts. Liverpool on the other hand are a team waiting to collapse. so they have been badly run for years, decades even ? Noone is saying we've been run badly for decades, more so the past 5 years, the years that have been most releavnt to our present. They will be is they sack Wenger for failing to qualify, appoint Souness then give him huge amounts to spend allowing him to add to the wage bill, then sacking him and appointing Roder and wasting money on players that arent vital then sacking him and appointing Allardyce....lets see what the fans think of their glorious past if that were to happen. And lets see the financial mess that they get into for failing to qulaify for the CL over and over again. we were a very badly run for decades up tot 1992. We were a well run club during the Halls and Shepherd and have became a shit little 2nd rate club again since Ashley bought it. wow you really dodged that one

how the fuck can he come out and say he'll never play for us again while jfk's manager? the club PAY him to play football for fucks sake. nothing more than a ploy to get away, poisonous little cunt. -
heard from someone who claims to know and has no reason at all to lie, thats all i'm saying
