the only family in the world ........ You couldn't make it up if you tried. Any stick will do. i'm embarrased for you, any defence will do Not defending anything, I'm embarrassed for you lot given the current state of the club since the change of ownership was made, because at the end of the day, this and other comments he has made, and SJH too, are all totally and completely irrelevant to what happens on a football pitch and how the club is run by its owners. i'm ignoring everthing past the first part because its irrelevant to what i posted. explain how you posting 'the only family in the world......' in a response to a post that accused shepherd of nepotism is not you leaping to his defence at the first opportunity. again, its this sort of thing that shows your agenda as the one true voice in defense of shepherd, and it undermines any shred of subjectivity that you might have shown towards him in the past. you just cant help shooting yourself in the foot, hence the embarassment. basically, its as I posted. Any stick whatsover to beat the fat bastard with. I don't expect its escaped your notice the state we are now in, despite having new owners, that the majority of people wanted, on the basis that "anybody but Shepherd would do better", having been told by myself and one or two others that backing managers and showing ambition wasn't an automatic thing, but a matter of choice. We now have an owner who has chosen not to back his managers and show ambition, and the whole point is still lost on you and others. Personalities have nothing to do with this, and I have to feel sorry for people with such mind boggling lack of perception and judgement. Amazing beyond belief. do you want to talk about what i posted? about you defending shepherd on a charge of nepotism? or do you want to talk about mike ashley?

i'm sure he's 'not defending anything'

Yes you daft twat, you couldn't build them for that much, the reason the price was so low is the amount of debt attached to the club. If you only include the assets & don't look at the liabilities when valuing something it's always going to look cheap. It's like talking about how much you could make out of selling your house but ignoring the mortgage you have to pay off with the proceeds. he says this sort of shit because the mongs believe it, a snippet of a conversation i over-heard yesterday.... 'have you seen the papers? they reckon the toon are in hundreds of millions of debt' 'eh? debt, how'd they manage that like?' 'i dunno, they reckon he's gonna run the club into the ground'

How do you get the impression that they've not been honest about this!?! Everything they've said about the financial side of the club has been proved to be honest. They said that the club was in danger of going out of business when they took over. True. They said that the debts had been paid off. True. All that can be true and there can still be money available to the manager for transfers. Ashley can be prepared to provide the money himself if the manager identifies a player that fits with the club's strategy (Young, value for money both in terms of wages and transfer fee, future potential, etc), that player is available (ie his club is willing to sell), and they want to come here and the club can still be financially in the s*** at the moment. Unfortunately, that strategy is going to restrict the number of players available to us, especially within the confines of the ridiculous January transfer window - which surely needs to go, if FIFA/UEFA are serious about encouraging an element of financial realism in football - but that doesn't mean it's wrong. If we're needing to get in a few fire-fighters to see us through until the end of the season, then fine, but we should try and make them loan signings if they don't fit with the sensible, neigh essential, transfer strategy. The anger comes from people's desire for there to be a hero and a villain in all of this and their subsequent inability to see both sides of the story. People have simply refused to accept that Ashley has had legitimate reasons behind doing what he's done - whether you think he's made mistakes or not - preferring to see him as some kind of evil super-villain whose taken us over simply to destroy the club. That's simply f***ing ridiculous and it's about time reality bit for many people, hopefully this is the start of that. The debts haven’t been paid off they’ve been restructured. In fact NUFC owe more money now than they did when Ashley took over. Do you suggest he shouldn't have put the money in to save that being the case then? Idiot. I’m not suggesting anything. NUFC does owe more money now than it did when the new owner took over. I’m sorry if the facts intrude on your childishly naïve Ashley fantasy but it’s important to establish the facts. How do you suggest he paid them off without the company owing him money for doing it? Bump He could have invested £100m in his business, instead of lending it the money with an option to charge interest. If he’s as committed to club as he says why go for the loan option? -
later is now, by the looks of it they got out before they had to balance anything

The offer was take it or leave it. Then he should have left it. Ashley chose to take on this responsibility and has to live with the consequences of buying an institution and a buisness. to be fair he's spoken of being responsible quite a few times. if he was left with such a shambles, forgetting who's fault it was or wasnt, does he have a choice but to try and steady the ship until we're back on a level footing from which he can put money in to push us up the league? -
perhaps you could input some relevant information into ANY thread anywhere, especially the one where I've asked you on numerous occasions what you think of appointing a manager who won 4 titles with 2 different clubs and 3 manager of the year awards, when you criticised the appointments. Would you like me to bump it for you rather than ruin this one ? seriously, piss off with that

if we were 100 million in debt and he bought the club for 100 million, shouldnt he have gotten the club for nothing really? that would seem fair. and didnt the halls and shepherd end up getting millions and millions out of the sale? they should be ashamed of themselves really, if it was their fault that we were in so much debt they should have been man enough to walk away without taking so much money out of the club and leaving us so badly in debt. oops wrong thread -
he's class imo
-
class cheers dave

whats the score? extra time now? what channel's it on?

fucks sakes man

dont give him your money, if everyone does that he'll be forced into either selling or pulling his finger out So what if he is skint? Then how are we going to buy and improve? Also, who would want to buy a club where there are no ticket sales, no merchandise being sold, no quality squad, no quality manager or coaching staff, etc? The most realistic solution is to weather the storm, and instead of pushing parts of the club apart we need to all pull together and gain some stability, financially, in a positional sense in the table and in a moral sense. how are we going to buy and improve with no funds for new players and joe fuckin kinnear managing the shite we already have? if we stayed away and didnt buy merchandise it would be obvious that it was because of the ownership and prospective buyers would know that would soon change once they stepped in. i'm not suggesting we pull anything apart, i'm suggesting that if, come the summer, ashley appoints kinnear (which is bad enough in itself) AND continues with giving players like ameobi new contracts while not spending enough to keep us progressing, then we say right thats enough thanks mike, we've had it with you and we're gonna force you out. banners dont force out owners, losing money does, and fast. (disclaimer - no i dont have a better owner in mind)

its much worse than that if its true
-
i dont believe for a second that if he had an offer in writing he'd be talking about it before signing it, would have been done and dusted immediately imo

Aye can imagine Darius not being happy about it The press are saying it was Robinho and Elano that would seem odd Not really. Supposedly Elano and Jo have had a big fall out with Hughes, and Robinho made it pretty obvious at the time that he didn't really want to join City. I liked the City Chief Exec on TV and radio this morning desperately trying to convince everyone that Kaka couldn't have turned them down because they didn't even speak to him to make him an offer. Then he pops up on SSN and says that they did speak to his father and personal advisor for over 2 hours. So if that wasn't to make Kaka an offer I wonder what they were talking about. Yeah right. i cant really see any reason to advise one of the best players in the world not to join your team?

No but by turning up in our thousands and clapping like seals and singing our hearts out will turn s*** performances and players with zero professional pride into world beaters. This thread is asking fans to basically do what they do anyway, unless those 30,000 plus fans at home to Hull or 6,000 plus at Ewood Park were not actually NUFC supporters or there to cheer on their team. You're right, we do support the players. We also give them a f***ing hard time, too (well, sections of the crowd do). Not saying they don't deserve it. But it's not helpful. Given that the thread was a reaction to the "do we need to start protesting" I believe that this is more what the original poster wanted to get across. The booing and moaning which is a minority anyway is way way down on the list of not helping matters thing, zero professional pride, no leadership at the top, shit tactics, injuries, poor squad depth, lack of commitment and feeling sorry for themselves is way way higher on the list. The fact that so many turn up and do cheer to support these wasters and this fucked up club is more than enough good support to render any booing and moaning insignificant to the proceedings. Like Gemmil said we can't fix this. They got a full house against Liverpool and no booing or moaning, I mean every goal we conceded resulted in fans standing and singing about the team, but did they respond, did they shite, they capitulated because they have hearts the size of atoms and couldn't give a damn and even if they did or there is a still a small flicker locked away, Kinnear and his staff are incapable of igniting it and to be honest as much as I can't stand half the fuckers representing our shirt, I can't really blame them because they've been sold a lie like we all have. The buck stops with those at the top and I'm pretty certain when Feb the 2nd arrives those still defending them and making excuses and blaming everyone and everything except these morons in charge will quickly change their tune, go missing for a few months or hopefully, stop fucking breathing. I jest on the latter of course, I'm just pissed off how its always our fault, how fans want to hold fellow fans accountable and responsible while letting the real culprits off scott free. Fuck off to that. Generally valid points. I agree that most of those contribute. Turning the place into a circus yet again isn't really the answer though, is it? No one is saying that it's all the fan's fault and everyone else is blameless. But you must acknowledge the role of the fans? When Keegan first returned and we all had that lift, the players were different. When Joe first took charge, that gave them a lift and they started to be a bit more promising (albeit temporarily). If we know that they are confidence players then what is the sense in protesting, booing, giving everyone involved a hard time? Surely there are better ways to show your displeasure. Better times to do it, too. its pretty simple really, dont go, dont give them your money, its the only form of protest they care about
